I have an interview coming up on the 14th. Any tips for the interview? Or how to dress in Hershey during the middle of winter?

Generally, it's not that cold here. I'm from colorado though so I come from cold. That said, all of your interview stuff is inside so maybe just an over jacket that you can store in the admissions office. As far as your interview, just try not to stress too much. The only way you can really prepare is to know why you want to go to PSU and read through your amcas so you remember what you said. Remember, ask questions! Your interviewing us too to see if this is where you want to spend the next 4 years of your life . Other than that, you'll be fine!

Great, thanks for the tips!

i recently received a letter in the mail that says my application is still under consideration/will be rereview in the future. did any else receive a similar letter and receive an interview invite later on in the process? thanks

Well, my application is finally "complete". That means I still have more than a month left until a decision for interview, right?

I just called today, the committee hasn't yet looked at my application. Interviewed Nov 5.

Probably a continue to review letter  . Penn State sure knows how to make a painful waiting process more painful

It was good to see anyone who interviewed today! I heard someone scheduling an interview when I was in the office so ii are still rolling out! 🙂 anyone interviewing on Friday? Its a big group so there will be lots of us students there to give y'all an idea of what we are like!

How long after complete can we expect to hear about an interview? Marked complete yesterday lol, submitted early oct.

Just got invited for interview today!😀
Planning on calling tomorrow to schedule.

Does anyone have any idea what dates would be available for interview by this time?

They usually have a quick turnaround once you're complete. I suspect that they mark you complete after they've made a decision about you so you should probably hear something within a week or two.

Am I just missing something or has there basically been no post interview news (at least on sdn)...?

I'm 10+ weeks post interview and nothing. I think Penn State is being extra cautious with applicants this cycle because of what happened last year. Can't fault them for that but I hope it doesn't put me at a disadvantage...

What happened last year? Did they over-accept? thanks,

So I should expect something soon? rejection included?

Hahaha it has been one terrible journey so far! Hard to stay optimistic! WOrst part is that I'm craving to be in medical school already! I don't want to apply again:/

got the "continue to review" letter in the mail today 🙁; does anyone know if people are actually offered interviews off this list?

(applied 8/17, complete 12/19, letter today)

From last year's thread, people have gotten off the list. It doesn't seem like it's very often, but they do.

Hold list... better than rejection I guess. Really hoping for an acceptance

For everyone on the hold list: I feel like this year they're being more frugal with acceptances due to the over enrollment last year. As such, I'd expect to see much more movement. Dont give up hope!!

Hi guys,

Just got an interview invite a couple of days ago. A few questions:

-Which time is better? 8:30 or 10:30?
-Would you recommend staying with a student?
-Any other tips?

I'm also on the post interview hold list... It says I will remain on this list until May 🙁

Sorry to hear that 🙁 When did you interview? Good luck on other interviews!

I didn't stay with a student, but it's personal preference. As for timing, I opted for 8:30. That way, you are done your interviews early and you can enjoy the lunch with students and the tour. Those that picked 10:30 toured, ate, and then interviewed. Again, it's personal preference. My only other tip is be relaxed and enjoy yourself!

still sitting tight without a decision about 15 weeks post interview. ridiculous. this is about as good of a visual approximation of how i feel right now: :bang:

Looks like the committee is up to Nov. 5 interviews? Anyone who interviewed after Nov. 5 hear anything? I interviewed Nov. 28th so it's only been 7 weeks but just want to get an idea if they are on the "8 week" schedule still or should I just hold off getting anxious for a few weeks?

Did you call and ask what's up? They told us to call after 8 weeks.

i've called them multiple times, they usually can't tell you much. I think I've heard "wait one or two more weeks" 4-5 times. I understand why they can't tell you anything, but it's still very frustrating. it seems like this is happening with a lot of people so if i were you i wouldn't be holding my breath for the "8 week" timeline. obviously, i could be wrong and you might be accepted today, but it just seems from what i'm seeing on this thread, it's not looking that way. either way, good luck! you can always try calling but just be prepared to not get any useful information.

AH! So frustrating, I am sorry! And I think based on what you are saying I am going to stop thinking about hearing back. Haha it is easier to pretend I didn't even interview and hope I will be pleasantly surprised! Good luck! I hope it works out for the best, waiting and all!

I think earlier someone said they had heard from the 5th. I also interviewed on Nov 28! I'm guessing 3 more weeks of waiting ughhh. So anxious!

I interviewed Nov. 28th too! All this waiting makes 6-8 weeks feel like an eternity.

14+ weeks and... drumroll please....

hold list. mother f#$)!@

I know! I'm guessing we'll hear in the beginning of Feb, more than 6-8 weeks judging by other people on here. The mailman makes me anxious haha

Awesome! Ended up getting the 10:30 since the other option was two wks after that. Thanks for you feedback.

I got an AAMC criminal background check e-mail today. Previous years say getting this means good news coming in snail mail. Has this happened to anyone else??? I interviewed Nov 28

I think you get the background check email if you've been accepted or wait listed at at least one of the schools that participates in it. I don't think you can deduce that you've been accepted by receiving the background check email... although I'm not sure (I'm just going off of what was included in the email). Good luck though!

That's what the e-mail said but then the AAMC website says: "Certiphi Screening, Inc. will procure a background report on early decision program applicants at the point of acceptance and all other applicants at the point of acceptance after January 1st"

https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/how_to_apply/134176/background_check_details.html

???

I'm not sure either way but it's like a glimmer of hope! haha
