when did you get a letter? i interviewed 9/10 and received no communication yet whatsoever.
I was out of town for all of last week so I am not sure when it was delivered but the letter was dated 10/18 and the envelope was postmarked on 10/20. I also live in NY state so it probably arrived fairly quickly. It sounds like other applicants received either the letter or a status update e-mail. I do not think that they will be around this week due to Sandy but you could check-in with them next week...
Accepted!!!! Interviewed 9/25. Definitely freaked out for a sec when I just saw the tiny letter.
I'm thinking of waiting a week to send in the purple form, seeing as Sandy is wreaking havoc over there. Agree/disagree?

I put it in the mail Saturday and sent an email saying I accept the offer so it's on record if the hurricane messes with the mail
I sent it in last week and they should have received it on Friday (unless USPS tracking system is lying to me). Looks like I will send them an email as well.

Current ms1. The school is currently closed because of the hurricane today and tomorrow. I'm guessing most folks aren't online right now because we have an exam coming up.

Can anyone who's interviewed here tell me what time the day should be over? I have a 4:30 flight to catch at JFK the day of my interview. The email said it should end around 1:30. Is this about right?
Any idea what Wednesday is looking like? The announcements page on the school site isn't working for me and I have a 9 am interview tomorrow

😕 I don't think that Brooklyn is doing well right now and I do not think that the subway is going to be working for 4-5 more days (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...rktransportbre89t150-20121030,0,6287923.story). They were probably not expecting for it to get this bad. If you are traveling from outsie of NY and don't hear anything from the school I would e-mail a reschedule request note and stay put until further notice.
I don't know? They didn't give me a time in my email. They just said plan on staying till 1:30

In terms of the end time, 1:30pm sounds about right if you interview in the morning. The interview day is pretty no-frills. You wait for your interview time (if it's in the morning), and you'll have a faculty interview for about an hour. After which, there's a tour/lunch with med students around 12pm, lasting about an hour total. I know during my interview day some ppl had later (1pm) interviews so they had to stay later. But since I was done in the morning, my day was done.

Yup, so you'll interview 11-12, tour and lunch is approx 12-1pm. Annnnd then thats it! As long as your interview isn't in the afternoon you should be done pretty early.

That's really quick! Usually schools give you orientation on what makes them special
haha yeahhhh, there's not really any of that. The dean stopped by to talk about their curriculum renewal, but that's it. Most of your info about the school comes from the student tour guides and student hosts if you stay with them. I also asked my faculty interview about some of the opportunities at DS. It's a no-frills interview day for sure.
College closed tomorrow. This was in a recent email:
"Due to Hurricane Sandy, all classes for all colleges are cancelled for Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Classes will remain cancelled until mass transit is restored and students can safely commute to class."
MTA says they're at least 3 or 4 days away from restoring subway service. :-\

How are people going about rescheduling interviews that were originally scheduled for this week?

I sent an email to them last night and they responded to it this morning. The office may be closed, but they are checking/responding to emails.
Have anyone asking for reschedule due to hurricane received a new interview date ? I emailed them a few days ago but haven't received a new interview date yet...
I was able to reach them by phone this morning. I was asked to give a few dates I would be available in November, and if those don't end up working we will be scheduled for December and January. I wasn't told when a new date would be confirmed though.

does Downstate give silent rejections? I haven't heard a peep and i sent secondaries in mid august (no interview invite)
Calling is the way to go. Ms. Levine was very helpful and offered me an II for next week.
Interviewed here last week (10/25) and have to say that this was my most difficult interview. My interviewer found every single red flag slash potential inconsistency in my application, challenged me with them, and then followed up with my responses rapid fire. I've never been with an interviewer who talked that fast before. Actually, I've never been in a conversation with someone who talked that fast before.
Anyways, that probably means my interview was a joke to him. Worst part is that he made me paranoid about my application, even though no one mentioned anything he mentioned in my previous four interviews...

Interview tomorrow afternoon and there are piles and piles of snow everywhere. No way in heck am I wearing my heels. Hope my leather boots go well with my skirt suit. 😎

I really hope that "hold" means waitlist. I didn't see any recent posts about someone being "waitlisted," so hopefully we still have a chance.

Reading last year's thread, I think it's different than a waitlist. They didn't get to reviewing the people on the hold list until May
