I'm still waiting to hear from NJMS. I completed my application in early November (all was complete in September except LoRs). What is the best way to check the status of my application? Call admissions?

75-80% of first years live in 180. It is a rip off but has some pluses.can anyone fill me in on housing first year? i got the housing application for 180 west market on campus housing at the accepted student luncheon. is this a popular choice for first years? it seems expensive but i guess the convenience and safety is huge in newark

Other popular choices include Society Hill, The Colonnades, Hoboken, JC, and then Bloomfield/Montclair etc. (the last 4 tend to be more of a 3rd and 4th year thing)
great thanks a lot for the info.
I have been complete since August and no word as of yet. Anyone in the same boat?
Possible reasons why they have kept me waiting?
Whats the deadline to do reserve a spot in 180 by?
I wouldn't hold your breath - its not updated very often; and is generally pretty uselessAnyone else wondering what the story is with the 'admitted students' section on the NJMS web site? (Just excited to see info new info posted on it. Basically checking it every day...)
IHas anyone who interviewed in November not heard back? It's taking much longer than the 6-8 weeks that they told us!
I called them today and was told that the interview season is over and that final decisions will be going out in the next couple of weeks. Pretty soon the rejection will no longer be silent.I've been waiting since July. I am guessing I have been silently rejected
Got what appears to be preliminary financial aid information in the mail today. Just basically says how much money I am able to take out in direct loans to pay for cost of attendance next year. However I think tuition for next year isnt available yet, so Im not exactly sure what to think of this. Anyone else get this letter?
Also my parents got an invite to parents day in april. This might be a silly question but are accepted students invited to this?? The reply form online makes it seem like only parents are invited.
So they only mentioned loans in your aid letter, nothing about scholarships/grants?Got what appears to be preliminary financial aid information in the mail today. Correct - Tuition hasn't been decided yet; expect single digit % over last years valuesHowever I think tuition for next year isnt available yet, so Im not exactly sure what to think of this.
Anyone know how match day went today?
Anyone know how match day went today?
Very much interested in this as well!
Im actually curious to see how the first pass/fail class does in the match, although we will be in medical school already when it happens (I believe they are second years now).
Although it has been said a thousand times before... matching depends less on the school than it does the individuals in the class. The students' interests, geographical preference, site prestige preference, etc. are all variables. One class may hunker down a lot harder for the step 1 than the last. One class may have a lot more people apply to plastics than the last. It's a crapshoot and it is rarely an accurate representation of the institution itself. Just a word to the wise.
Yeah I definitely agree with you. Match lists give very little information. For example peds isnt very competitive to get into, but peds at CHOP or Boston Children's IS competitive. One could argue that if a person is competitive enough to get into CHOP for pediatrics, that same person could have matched into ortho or plastics if they had that inclination. Also, looking at a state school match list can be even more difficult, because what may be percieved as a poor match (not very prestigious programs), can just be a reflection of the applicants desires to stay close to home.
So yeah, match lists are useless. But they are fun to look at nonetheless![]()

From what I remember, the highlights include:
6 neurosurg
1 rad onc
3 derm
1 cardiothoracic surgery/research position - from what I hear there are only 12 seats in the country for that
5 ortho
Handful into Uro (not sure the number)
1 going to CHOP for peds
Very nice! I heard about the guy that was applying to CTS, glad to hear that he got it!
6 NS 😱
Depends on the effort you make.Do you know how living in 180 compares to off-campus with respect to social life/participation in the community/etc?

We always do well for neurosurg cos the the NJMS program itself is really good. The NS programs are great too. Case western, Cincinnati, Cornell, Methodist, Jefferson and Albany.

We had 6 or so go into it last year as well.
There are only 204 seats in the country for neurosurg, so when we send 6 - thats 3% of neurosurgeons coming from NJMS. Doesn't sound huge but when you consider there are like 150 med schools (+ DO + IMG)... 3% is pretty damn impressive
Its an option.... do not know a single medical student that lives there thoJust chiming in about housing (though I want to know if rejection comes snail mail too!):

I found this place to be walking distance from the school, cheaper, and better when I was getting my Master's. If you're more minimalist, the housing size will do. If you need large, expansive space, 180 is better.
