Withdrew my acceptance today, good luck to everyone still waiting!

Hi guys, I was hoping someone could clarify this for me.
If I get accepted off the waitlist for a school and accept the offer, does that mean I can't get accepted by any of the other schools I got waitlisted at?

If you accept an offer, you can still get accepted off the waitlist from another school up through June 1st. After that, schools in Texas aren't allowed to offer an acceptance to someone that is already holding acceptance to a Texas school.

Thats what i thought. But I heard that there were people who got off the waitlist at one school, while attending the first week at another school, that decided to switch. Is this June 1st rule new?

Hmm, sounds strange to me that any school would allow someone to switch after classes had already started. I think the rule has been around for at least a few years, although it may not have always been on June 1st (I think it a few years ago it was June 15th). Maybe the stories that you've heard came from someone that had an acceptance outside of Texas, so the rule didn't apply to them. There's also an 'extraordinary circumstances' clause on the rule, so maybe it had something to do with that.

Does anyone know what the wilderness medicine society is like at UTMB?

Can anyone suggest to me some good places to live (1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, washer or dryer or connections for them included) I'm currently interested in village by the seas and park at cedar lawn, but I heard that there's water damage if you live on the first floor of park at cedar lawn. If it's a 1 bedroom, you have to live on the first floor there, so there's my dilemma :/ Can anyone please offer me some insights into those 2 places or other good places that you know of? Thanks!

There's been a few great discussions on the FB group about where to live 🙂 Your best bet if you want to live near the school is finding a privately owned condo at Marina Pointe or Port Aux Prince (I have the number for a realtor who was super helpful if you want it), but apt-wise, I heard a lot of students live at Villa Marina, Chateau Lafitte, Ebbtide, and Carleton Courtyards. There's also the Ferry Road apts owned by UTMB. I have a friend who lives in Village by the Seas and she said it's a 15-20 min drive but she likes living there.

Thanks for your reply. I will look into those ^^

Accepted 6/4. OOS!! Whoo, great school but will likely withdraw due to previous acceptance. Good luck to everyone still waiting

Interviewed 11/9

Just withdrew my IS acceptance. Wish everyone the best!

Congrats to the recent acceptances for both IS and OOS in the past month. I take it this may be all the movement we will see for a while (OOSer here)? I have a few more days before I sign a lease elsewhere and withdraw permanently. Good luck to those still waiting to get into this awesome school!
