^ congrats, i hope i can hear some good news as well, nearly identical stats.....would be so happy with a utmb acceptance.....

Congrats! Does anyone know if they typically let in all the waitlisters they are going to at the same time, or if their acceptances are spread out?

Well, they can only offer spots as positions open so I'm guessing it's going to be spread out. Still hoping for news from here too!

It was an email.

Congrats! It's nearing that time though. It's amazing how the time passes. Good luck to all those still waiting! I have found a place to live for my other acceptance but won't sign a lease until July. I'm hoping for a response before July 1st; otherwise, I will withdraw from the waitlist.

Congrats! I have yet to hear back from Baylor, UTSW, UTH, and UTMB. Still waiting for my first acceptance so hopefully they'll send something soon!

Congrats!! Did you guys do anything to affect your acceptance? Like sending letters of interest or something?

I was actually planning on sending them a letter since I wasn't expecting any movement until May...never really got around to writing it up and mailing it though

Congrats! At least there is some movement for you instate applicants.

Agreed! Congrats on the acceptance!

Gah, I really don't want to have to reapply. Hoping UTMB sends some love my way!!!!! Praying for something.

Well I hope you get a spot. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Send in a letter of intent if you haven't. It doesn't hurt your chances. Let me qualify this last statement. It doesn't hurt your chances if it isn't written poorly and you put a little thought into it. Ms. Silva will add it to your file at least. Email her.

Thanks a lot man! I'm actually going to do just that tonight.

Got accepted off the wait list this morning!! 29 mcat and 3.73 GPA. Tons of extracurricular activities though... worked in the ER for three years, vice president of my fraternity, service committee for AMSA, tons of shadowing (over 200 hours) and tons of volunteer work! Good luck to the rest of y'all! I could not be any happier right now 🙂

Congratulations! I have very similar stats. Did you send in a letter after you were waitlisted?

Yes i sent in two letters actually. One at the end of February giving them an update and telling them how much i like UTMB. Tthen a second one at the beginning of May stating how UTMB is my number one choice, what i can contribute there as a student, how being an EKG tech has helped me so much, and how the west Tx explosion and working at the hospital in waco that night transformed my life. I also sent that last letter in by snail mail and i signed the bottom.

Dang About the west, Texas thing. I would've been impressed too and accepted you haha!

There should be more movement from the wait list soon as I will be pulling my name from the accepted pool. I received an acceptance from my #1 school recently. UTMB offers an awesome program but other reasons have drawn me to USUHS. Good luck to you all and keep smiling!

Congrats and good luck with your future endeavors. Thanks for letting us know!

If we took classes, don't we just send the transcript to TMDSAS or do we update the individual schools at this stage? I took 4 classes over the last 2 trimesters as part of my job perks. Thanks.

I believe that I sent my transcripts to both TMDSAS and UTMB

They've opened the new application, so do we still send the transcripts to them? At this point, I'm still WL at UTMB, so...

If you are still on the waitlist I would definitely send transcripts. That would also be a good segue for you to send a letter to utmb stating your continued interest along with the update.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I sent them a letter of intent a couple of weeks ago, so I didn't want to come off as too desperate and send in too many letters too quickly. I planned to wait to update them with my transcript and grades since, I don't have grades posted for this term yet. I guess I should send it as soon as my grades are available.

Accepted!!! Just got my email! I'm so excited I'm shaking! 😀

Thanks! 😀 3.84 cGPA, 3.79 sGPA, 30 MCAT, in-state

Is there a fb group that I can join for the class of 2017?

I am so surprised at how late people are hearing about getting in. Does this occur when people back out last minute? lol.. Btw, I'm applying for this season.. I wouldn't mind any school in Texas.. but seriously though.. UTMB ALL THE WAY!! I graduated from here last year through School of Health Professions doing all kinds of volunteering, research, shadowing and leadership activities. Hoping they will take me back for Medicine *fingers crossed*

After match on February 1, if you've already been accepted to another school, you have until June 1 to get off the waitlist at any schools that you ranked higher than your match. Most waitlist movement happens in May since May 15 is the deadline where you have to drop all acceptances except at one school.

So if we haven't gotten off the waitlist in May, then it is less likely that we will get in bc the class has filled up again?

Has anyone here gotten in with a 27 MCAT? Anyone?

I'm sure people have. UTMB puts more emphasis on GPA than MCAT. I think the MCAT average I heard at my interview here was a 29. I had a 27 and interviewed after the prematch date. I ranked Uthscsa number 1 though so never found out of I got into UTMB since UTMB sends all their prematches Nov 15 and everyone else has to wait till the match. I did prematch to Uthscsa though.

I've heard stories from people I know though of a few kids getting in with as low as 23s, so a 27 isn't that bad. I would probably retake if you had time though the latest end of this month or early June if you think you can improve. I'd still try to submit your app now with the 27 though, since you want to be complete as early as possible (at least before July).

I haven't taken my MCAT yet (taking it in a week) but that's what it's looking like from my practice tests.. that's why I'm freaking out. I've worked really hard all these four years and I hope the MCAT doesn't ruin my efforts.

So here are my stats:
I have a ~3.8 GPA majoring in CLS (Clinical Laboratory Science). I was an officer of 6 different organizations along with being senator for SGA for two years working with medical school students, tutored subjects like Hematology, Microbiology/Parasitology and Immunology, was part of the Global Health program at UTMB, winner of Honor Pledge Professionalism award (which is pretty big at UTMB), have 1000+ hours of clinical lab work in a Blood Bank, shadowed in the departments of pediatrics, surgery, infectious diseases, hematology, ER, and pathology. Volunteered at UTMB John Sealy's Pediatrics, St. Vincent's clinic, 3 health fairs, and another hospital's ER. Won 1st place at a state-wide research poster on MRSA and presented at various conferences. ..leaded a carnival fundraiser raising ~$1,200 for the school of health professions' programs..

OH yes.. I'm an ORM.. if that helps.. lol
So if I make a low MCAT score, should I retake or just go for it and apply? Sorry for the long post. Any feedback will be appreciated . 🙂

I think with your gpa and a 27 or higher balanced score, you'd have a great shot at utmb( especially with your involvement and investment in the utmb/galveston community) and a decent shot at all the other schools except Baylor, utsw, and maybe uth.

Thank-you @bollywoodlover for giving me hope. UTMB is my dream school 🙂

Let's hope I do well next week. (praying) I will update you on how it goes!

I got accepted off the waitlist this morning. I'm IS, but I've already gotten accepted to a higher choice school so I'm going to decline. I hope the spot goes to one of you fellow SDNer!

I have to admit, I'm really surprised there's been this much waitlist movement. It was my belief that UTMB see's little to no waitlist movement. Hopefully they show some love!

I just withdrew my acceptance. Good luck guys, UTMB is an awesome school!

Hey guys, I was accepted today off the wait list (OOS), but I did not accept the offer, since I got in elsewhere. Good luck to those still waiting to hear! I got my fingers crossed for you all.
