Alternate list also 🙁 Really confused/frustrated, because I was interviewed relatively early when I applied two years ago and sat on the alternate list until the end of the cycle. Interviewed this year even earlier, had the best interview of my life (or so I thought), and alternate list again. Dear Wayne, if you don't want me, stop repeatedly getting my hopes up haha.
alternate list OOS
interviewed a month ago..

Just got an interview here!! Sooo excited 😀 😀
Let's see....>3.6 sGPA and cumGPA, > 30 MCAT. Canadian.
App was complete a couple days -- but marked complete as Sept. 26. There was a slight mishap with the money order.

Received interview invitation here after acceptance at University of Cincinnati. I am leaning towards declining the interview. Anyone have any reasons I should consider for not declining the interview? Just want to get other opinions. Thanks.
If you want to go elsewhere give up your spot for someone that probably really wants it... like me. Share the wealth!
Wow I just got home and found out I had an interview invitation...my application was complete 10/5, I did not anticipate hearing this early
OOS, MCAT = 34, GPA = 3.8
My brother interviewed here last year and he loved it, I can't wait to see it! Congrats on all the other interviews and acceptances!

Anyone know how to set up a tour if you are in the area?
Just email or call the admissions office? They'll be able to set something up
So Wayne is one of those schools where even if you apply late you still got a good chance? I'm sending my money order in tonight.
They theoretically reserve 1/7th or so of the class spots for each decision date.

Yep, they offer 1/7 of the total class seats each decision date, which means there is usually a lot of wait list movement come May 15th when people drop their multiple acceptances. People keep getting accepted off the wait list right up to orientation, and some people are taken off at each decision date as well.

Have there been any rejections post-secondary? I have been completed for a while and they still haven't made a decision on my application. Just curious to see if this is a silent rejection or if I'm still in the running.
when were you complete? I was complete early September, but haven't heard back either
I was complete August 20th. I know people completed after me have interviewed and already gotten post-interview decisions. I just wanted to know what this means.when were you complete? I was complete early September, but haven't heard back either

Yeah I don't know either... maybe theseeker4 can help us lol
Just officially withdrew my application here. Good luck to all else applying!
Does anyone know how much Wayne likes Wayne students?
Does anyone know how much Wayne likes Wayne students?
From what I understand, they 'like' WSU students in the sense that they believe that WSU students are already inclined to stay in michigan and practice in detroit because they already live there, or live nearby. I've heard they grill you more harshly if you're OOS because they want practicing doctors in detroit because there is a need here.
Also, complete email recieved today, II nov 5th, its a long story and most of it wasn't my fault... lol. Short story is that I was complete over a month ago and they missed my email somehow.
Does anyone know how much Wayne likes Wayne students?
Something like 30% of applicants who went to wayne undergrad matriculate at WSU SOM. How much is selection bias on the part of the students I don't know, but that is pretty good indication to me that they like students from Wayne. How much is it that the students from Wayne already have ties to Detroit, I don't know, but it is a very encouraging number IMO.

Sorry, I have no special insight into the workings of admissions. Just remember that they have non rolling admissions, so hearing from them later is not a huge deal.

Congrats to everyone that has interviewed/gotten accepted. Im a current MSIV here and can answer any questions about the school if you have any. Just shoot me a PM. For those that were waitlisted, don't fret yet, many of us were originally on the wait list and got accepted later on!
The waitlist is definitely a cold, desolate place to be in. Oh well. In other news, Henry Ford is going to merge with Beaumont. I wonder what this will mean for Wayne's affiliation with Henry Ford many years from now.

Many years from now, it might make a difference, but in the short term, it will probably mean little. WSU and Henry Ford have been getting closer and closer for years, and have invested a ton of time and money into the relationship (that was one of the issues a few years ago when WSU and the DMC were talking about splitting) which is not something that is in danger of being reversed any time soon. Only time will tell, but I don't think there is any real risk of Wayne losing Henry Ford as a rotation site. Whether the merger changes Wayne's relationship with Beaumont is an interesting question, as I could see the merged hospital system opening Henry Ford hospitals to Oakland students, and at the same time reopening Beaumont hospitals to Wayne students. No one has said that will happen, but I think it is possible, and more likely than Wayne being dropped completely by the merged system, IMO.

I really hope that's the case. I'm worried about this issue because I've heard Wayne's contract with HF ends in 2015, the year this entering class will start rotations. I hope these things are clarified after this 90 day due-diligence period :/
Three weeks to go for the next round! What a horribly long wait

Do you mean 3 weeks until they send out more interview invites?
Or 3 weeks until those who have interviewed hear a decision?

He means post-interview decisions. November 28th is the next day for them to be sent
Yup for post interview..sorry for not being clear. As for interview invites they send them out pretty randomly. A friend of mine was complete mid October and received and invite for late November.

Does everyone interviewed before Nov 28 get a decision that day or is there some delay between interviewing and which day you'e told? i.e. my interview day is Nov 20th and just wondering if that's too close to the Nov 28 date to get a decision and I'll have to wait extra long or if that will just mean a super quick turn around
