I'm sort of scared to click on that link with as much as I here folks talk about angry birds.

I FINALLY GOT AN INTERVIEW!!!

Phone call from CSU Northridge this evening. Offered various interview days throughout the first three weeks of January, can be either in person or on the phone.

Finally get to see my score improve!

22 apps, 1 interview, 13 rejections

Every one counts! I feel so much relief, even if it is just one.

Congrats! :highfive: It makes the 1 oh, so much sweeter! 😀

Congrats! As our DCT says, "You only need one internship" 🙂

Not sure why this makes me chuckle and want to strangle someone at the same time.

I got my first interview today! It's at the Associates in Behavioral Science through the Illinois Psychological Associate Pre-Doctoral Internship Consortium. 1 interview, 3 rejections and 11 to hear back from!

YAY! I am celebrating with you!

Hi aPsyDstudent, I am also waiting on them....Tired of waiting!!! Best of luck to you!

eudaimonPsyD-CONGRATS!!

good morning - only 2 days left... :xf:
here's to lots of good news & invitations these next 2 days!!! :luck:

Good luck everyone. It should be an interesting couple of days. Currently I have 4 interviews, 10 rejections, I am waiting on 4. I am waiting for Geisinger, Primary Children's, Children's Hospital of Orange County, UMass Medical Center/Worcester State Hospital. All 4 of them have already sent out invites so it seems unlikely at this point. My original goal was to get 5 interviews, with a little luck maybe that will happen.

I know that people have heard from the adult/child track at CHA (congrats to those who have interviews!), but has anyone heard from Track I: adult outpatient/acute services? Thank you!

Has anyone heard from Miami Children's? Interviews or rejections?

I know someone who is there, and they said their goal is to get them done by today (the 14th). So no, they haven't notified yet.

Rejection by email, no bcc so saw the others in the boat with me.

Hi all,

This may sound like a dumb question, but what are your thoughts on wearing a suit during a Skype interview? Necessary or not? Thanks for any input!

I dont think its a dumb question at all. It's still an interview, they're most likely just trying to save you money. The least you can do at that point is look professional. I vote for suit. As a man, I'd still go tie + jacket, since I imagine I'll be sitting at my desk while on Skype. I may forgo pants though, just because I like to live dangerously

I hope you get 1 more! I currently have 3 that I'm very very happy with and thankful for. Waiting on 6 sites that haven't sent out responses as far as I know:

UNC Chapel Hilll CC
Clemson CC
Metro State of Denver CC
UC Boulder
Catholic University CC
Friends Hospital

I'm hoping to get 5 total too! But trying to focus on the fact that 3 is great. Good luck! :luck:

Sorry for the rejection 🙁 Do you mind sharing what your last name begins with and were there a lot of people on the email? I am waiting for that site because it is local for me and would be an easy transition, so trying to judge what my chances are still! Thanks...and good luck!

Also, what track did you apply for?

This is exactly what I was thinking! No pants interview! I actually would probably go for professional top and pajama pants, but I like the idea of tie & jacket and skivvies even better! Just make sure you have all your materials gathered right where you are so you don't have to get up during the interview!

Sorry 🙁

I keep refreshing my email and checking my spam but I haven't gotten this email yet. IMy email inbox seems to be a "Rejection Processing Center" however, so I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later!

Hang in there! I am watching Morning Glory on Netflix. It's dumb and predictable. Misery is also an option on netflix, but I can't handle that movie 😀

That movie was dumb, predictable, and awesome all at the same time 🙂 I watched "Beginners" which is really good but has a strong theme of dying lol.

good point. That could lead to an awkward moment

You guys are brave! Thanks for the responses. I will go with some form of pants to play it on the safe side

Rejection from Ohio Psychology Internship...
I think there should be a rule that rejection and invites be sent within a certain # of hours/days of each other so I don't hold on to hope that they somehow forgot me or I'm on their alternate list.

Anyway, here's a question I haven't seen discussed - if it has been, please let me know where..

What do you wear to open houses? I have two VA open houses and one CC open house who all say that the open house has nothing to do with making ranking decisions. Suit? Business Casual? What are peoples thoughts/experiences??

Heads up Metro State of Denver sent out invites on Friday, two of people I know received invites. GOOD LUCK, these counseling centers are killing me with their delay. 😱

I've been told to wear my suit and that even if they say it is more casual, it is better to be overdressed than under.

Thank u for the heads up so I can prepare myself!

Did anyone who got an invite to University of Louisville SOM receive an interview schedule emailed or mailed to them? The invite said we'd get it in a few days but nothing yet here! Just wanted to check in and see if anyone else got it. Thanks!

When I hear this, I think both "how is that possible?" and "why?"

People form certain opinions about others seconds after meeting them. Unless, you go and dont talk to a sole (whixh in itself would look pretty odd), I really dont think its possible to NOT influence people. Might be much easier to move yourself down on the rankings than up, but still...

I think psychologists generally put way to put predictive validity into interviews, but I wonder why they do not want to interview anyone? What advantage does this method have for the site other than saving some time? Or is that it?

I just got this weird email from Emory that said: ".We have decided to hold your application in a group that we will continue to consider, but will not be able to offer an interview. This “hold” group represents applications that we consider viable (as opposed to those we have already sent “no longer considering” letters), but due to issues of “fit” or experience level or other issues, are not considered as part of our top interview group. We will rank order this group and include this rank order in our submission to the computer match program."

Anyone else get this email? Any thoughts?

Its a way of trying to make sure they dont go to the second round match process, which, (because of it increased length and demands compared to the "clearinghouse") is a huge demand of time and resources on the site/faculty. They have already done that in round one (and most are not compensated for the loss in productivity/revenue that results) and most don't want to do it again.

Hi all,

This may sound like a dumb question, but what are your thoughts on wearing a suit during a Skype interview? Necessary or not? Thanks for any input!

YES! In fact, you should even wear a nice shirt and pants on a telephone interview (I probably wouldn't break out the suit for a phone interview, but nice clothes). Putting on professional clothes puts you in a professional state of mind. Sitting on your bed in your PJs during a phone interview might be comfy, but it's not professional and you will probably sound less-than-professional.

Still waiting on 7 sites, most of which have already sent out invites. I guess I will be getting 7 rejections in the next 2 days. That's just mean!:meanie:

Yes! I received this message too! I feel like the back-up plan/rebound intern! Bizarre! Also thought it was interesting how they were basically like we'll still rank you and hope you'll rank us too!

Nope, I didn't get the 'follow up itinerary' that was supposed to come out in a few days. The initial interview email did say that the interview day starts promptly at 8am and then the last activity is a meet and greet at 3pm...but that's all I have so far.

Not necessarily! A member of my cohort and myself both received invitations to interview yesterday from sites that sent out invitations weeks ago. There is still hope! Good luck!

received a phone call to interview at the florida department of corrections!

Pretty much this. It's basically a way of saying (apologies for bluntness), "while you aren't in our group of top applicants, your application is still strong enough that we would feel comfortable having you as an intern. Thus, even though we can't interview you, we'll rank you just in case none of the interviewed applicants match and/or we really don't like any of them after interviewing."

Got interview offers at:

WestCoast Children's
The Help Group
Minneapolis Internship Consortium (University of St. Thomas Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services)

Good luck everyone!

I agree, this is what we were told by our TD. Dress as if you are at an actual interview, sitting as if you were sitting with them, to put yourself in the professional, interview mindset, as if you were there in person.

Interview from Southern Illinois University CC. It's a Skype interview. . . I don't know how I feel about Skype. But hey, its an interview so I shouldn't complain.

Both rejected me...ahg...so depressing..🙁...good luck to the others..

This site's notification date was yesterday and I've heard nothing either way. So per APPIC's instructions, I emailed the DOT to inquire about my status. Here is her reply:

"My administrative assistant is still scheduling interviews. She tells me she should be completed with this process within the next day or so. She will contact you regarding the status of your application shortly."

Just thought some of you in the same boat might want to know.
