I just received a rejection from the Winnipeg Residency.
Has anyone heard from NY locations in the last few days?
This is the first I've heard of someone receiving an offer to interview at Children's Boston - is this a friend/colleague, or did I just miss it on the forum somehow? Did you get a response to your e-mail inquiry? Good luck 🙂I haven't heard anything either! I emailed yesterday as they say to contact them this week. It seems others have heard both ways but for me not yet, and not sure what to make of it either!
Myself and two others in my cohort got the mass email rejection from MGH CBT track tonight. We are all Ph.D. students with extremely strong research backgrounds and excellent training. Yikes. We were all thrown off a bit by the summary rejection. 😛
Brooklyn VAMC interviews. FINALLY good news!
When you say NYU do you mean Bellevue? They don't have a neuro track I don't believe. My friend got an invite to nyu this morning. Neuro, I think.

Same boat here - got rejected from the MGH neuro track today and this was my first rejection.I hear ya on this! There must be some extra stellar candidates out there in this year's extra large pool? No one from my program, which is also very strong in research and clinical training, got an interview at Mass General. It was a bit of a shock.
Has anyone else NOT heard from Texas Children's Hospital? Yesterday a lot of people posted that they received invitations to interview, and today I saw that someone received a rejection. I still haven't heard anything though. Anyone else?
I'm still waiting too and I applied through both Baylor Menninger and directly through TCH. I think it means we're still being considered?
Just rode on Spirit this weekend - horrible experience! And, my husband can tell you I'm cheap, but I would definitely pay the cheap $15 to ride in their "first class" section - that is, if I every use them again. I was literally breathing down the neck of the person in front me of me for the 3 hours of flight. Thanks for the responses....still debating about whether to book a flight through them, press has been bad though so far on them.
Like your name dream chaser 🙂
Here here!Hi All!
Have been stalking, but not posting much. I applied to all counseling centers, and am still waiting to hear anything from all 17.... Just wanted to share, in case there are others who are freaked out reading about the interviews/rejections rolling in, and feeling like their time may never come. I just keep going back to the fact that we are IN THIS right up until the end, and there are many types of sites (counseling centers and community settings, from what I gather), that are notoriously later in their notifications. So, if you are in a similar boat, hang in there! We got this! 🙂

^^^I am having moderate/decent success with getting interviews, but as you said, it's a little better for those of us who are willing and able to be geographically unrestricted. But regardless, I absolutely agree that something is deeply wrong with this system. I cannot find a rhyme or reason to the evaluative process... I have received interviews that some of my colleagues have not and in some of those cases they were better fits. My colleagues have received interviews that I have not for which my skill set is a better fit. It's really hard to comprehend the process when 'fit' doesn't seem to be upheld in a lot of cases. It's difficult to make sense of this whole process... it's sort of Alice-in-Wonderland-ish... like we followed a rabbit hole into some strange universe where reason isn't much favored. It's exciting and terrifying and beyond ridiculous and absurd on many many levels.

So, my practicum placement is at an APA accredited site with a Dec 1st deadline (I'd rather not say which site). My supervisor shared that they have not reviewed one application yet. Usually they start by now but are running way late due to the large number of applicants this year. I imagine that the same delay is going on across the country.
Anyway, as much as it sucks to wait, I don't think there is reason for outright panic yet. Save the panic for the 16th- at least that is what I keep telling myself!
Unfortunately, this is where I see this process going... Each year # of applicants grow, # of internships grow (grossly minute in comparison), unmatched students apply again the following year, disporportionality grows... 🙁This repeated mention of large numbers of applicants actually makes me feel more anxious about the whole process . . .There was already a very large discrepancy between number of applicants and number of spots in previous years.
Just got a mass email rejection for Children's Hospital LA. 🙁.
.
Congratulations on your interviews! 😀
Seriously, if I were willing to apply cross-country, I'd do a lot better, I'm sure. (I'm also not a narcissist, haha) But that's not something I'm willing to do and I don't think that people who are unable to relocate should be barred from being psychologists (I'm able but not willing). It's just stupid!
What Erg mentioned earlier on in this thread, about the inability of those over a certain age to understand the unfairness/imbalance/etc. (sorry for my paraphrasing 😛) is completely true. After reading this thread for years (I lurked since 2006) and seeing/reading numerous qualified candidates not match, I still had the "well, there must be something that they did wrong," thought. Then I went through the process and saw the randomness of it (what really hit home for me was, like what you're saying, when overqualified peers didn't match and/or get interviews when they absolutely should have, if this were a "just world"... I was already sick of my program and contemplating alternatives so this 2nd match attempt is more to prove that I've really done all that I can do inside the system, and it's still ridiculous, than to further my "career").
But I'm still certain that there are people reading this who think that the match system actually works for "qualified applicants" and that the people who don't match had some flaw that caught up with them. That's really not true. It's also not true when sites say that "it's sheer numbers" or anything in that vein because that's not true either. Sites are mostly looking for the same things: hours in a relevant area/setting (including intervention and assessment) and general people and literacy skills. Some sites add publications or research to their requirements. Other than that, it's a crap shoot, and that's not how it should be, in my opinion.
Good luck, though, everyone!![]()
Hi all,
Got a call yesterday from NU and an email invite today from Martinez.
I'm really, really holding out for Jesse Brown General track - anyone think there is still hope? Sounds like one person on the forum has reported an individual email invite to general track? Anyone know anything else?
SO sorry! I really thought I saw it on the forum somewhere...but in looking back I don't see it listed! Also in talking with peers no one has heard of any Boston Children's invites going out yet. Sorry for the confusion...too much to keep track of! I did not get a reply yet to my e-mail. However to quell my anxieties I looked at last year's forum around this time...it seems they similarly sent rejections out early in the week followed by invites starting on that Thursday. Good luck to you too!! 🙂This is the first I've heard of someone receiving an offer to interview at Children's Boston - is this a friend/colleague, or did I just miss it on the forum somehow? Has anyone heard from Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY? I haven't heard anything, and I don't recall anyone mentioning it on the forum.
So I have a scheduling question for anyone who might have insight into the interviewing process...
I am noticing that it is almost inevitable (if I have a good interview turnout at the end of this madness) that I'm going to have to schedule back to back days of interviewing. I am wondering if it is even realistically feasible to interview from 8-4:30 one day in one state, then take an evening 4-5 hour flight to get to the next city by 10 or 11pm before having to interview the next morning. If there were no other options... would you do this or would you just do a phone interview knowing that people almost never match at sites they didn't do a face to face interview at?
Has anyone ever done this or know of anyone who has and could offer any advice/insight/warnings?
I would try to get there by all means possible. But, you have to realize that to get across country, sometimes the latest flight is 6-7pm from smaller airports. Add snow into this mix and sometimes it's just not possible to do back-to-back interviews.
And people DO match to sites where they don't do an inperson interview! Last year my good friend got her #1 site it was the only one she did a phone interview with. She had 13 interviews overall; imagine how much $ she would have saved if she didn't fly to those other interviews 😱

Hi everyone. I received an email invitation today to interview at the Ohio Psychology Internship Forensic track.
