So did we come to a consensus about thank you letters?
I posted about that originally and I decided to NOT send one. I hope it was the right decision; I think there was no consensus on it really.
I emailed on Monday too and just heard back with a personalized email. I think they're going through them slowly. Was the Boston children's notice individualized or generic? I emailed the administrative contact on Monday but have not heard anything back yet.
A personalized rejection e-mail where the subject line was just "Interview."
Seriously?
My first rejection had the subject like "internship interview." Hope skyrocketed and crashed and burned in a sec. Le sigh.

I'm doing it. I figure if someone doesn't want one they'll toss it. But if it is important to someone then not recieving one may count against me. Unless I am explicitly told not to do one I figure why not? And anyways, if I don't I'll be hearing my mama's lectures about proper manners and my mama was so much more scarier than any training director! 😉
Jewish Child Care Association interview invite! 3 dates available: January 9, 15, 21, 2 in Pleasantville and 1 in the Bronx. Appeared to be mass email for all 3 locations.
Mailman sent out invites on Tuesday for their open house which is either the 7th or 15th.anyone hear anything from Phoenix Children's Hospital lately? I know both invites and rejections have gone out but still nothing here.
And Mailman Center for Child Development also seems to still be silent?

This waiting is torture
this seems like a strange and inefficient method of doing things... was yours a rejection or an invite?I emailed on Monday too and just heard back with a personalized email. I think they're going through them slowly.
I got my invite there on the 4th and received a confirmation email on the 5thHas anyone heard back to confirm an interview date from Gainesville VA?
If it helps I can give you the name and email address of the administrative assistant who sent it out (since that wasn't in the email from the training director)I got my invite there on the 4th and received a confirmation email on the 5th

last year mailman sent out invitations on two separate dates... so maybe not all hope is lost?
is it just me, or does this week feel like an eternity?? about to lose it

If you have the email address that would be fabulous! I've left her another voice message but it would be great to follow up with an email.
Thanks!
So did we come to a consensus about thank you letters?
I went to the APA workshop this year in Hawaii on applying to internship from the writers of the Internships in Psychology APAGS workbook. An audience member asked this very question of to send a thank you note or not? One of the authors who is a director of training for an internship site (pretty competitive one from what I gathered) said he recommends people do NOT send invites. However, the other authors disagreed with this recommendation and said if it feels right and is in your personality to do things like that, do it. The consensus at this workshop on the matter was send it or not, just know that the decision will not come down to whether or not you sent one. I wouldn't stress over it, but if you feel like you had a great interview and just want to touch base one more time with folks, go with your gut...

It would really behoove sites to more transparent about this type of stuff, IMO.
On an unrelated note, I won't get my comp results back for about six weeks (part 2 is in early January, and they're grading them together)--I figured you all could empathize with the anxiety of waiting. 😉
Denver VA personal phone invite 12/12
Community Reach email invite 12/12 interview dates 1/9, 1/16 and 1/23,

mass rejection email from Pace UCC today (12/12) at 3:54pm EST.
On another note, if the interview notification date for a site was 12/11, do you all think it makes sense to assume that a lack of response = rejection? Is it even worth emailing the site at this point? Unlike some other sites, this site did not state clearly that applicants would hear back if the applications are rejected...

Oy, so I just had to confirm an interview with Site A, which conflicts with the interview I already had scheduled with Site B. Site A was understanding of my situation, but needed a response ASAP or I would get stuck with another date that would absolutely not work. Site B originally had other dates available that may work, but I am still waiting to hear back from them to see if they are still open. I would rank Site A over Site B, so I will cancel my interview with Site B if necessary, but its not like I'm swimming in interviews to begin with. I guess what I am trying to say is.... This process stinks.

ALWAYS.
I had two friends last year who didn't hear from sites and found out that they had actually received interviews when they contacted the sites. Both sites said they had e-mailed these individuals twice, but the e-mails must have gotten lost in cyberspace!

Dr. Greg Keilin, one of the people in charge of the APPIC listserv, said this in a recent email: "If you haven’t heard from a site by the interview notification date, contact the site via e-mail or phone the next morning to inquire about your status. I recommend waiting until the next morning since a site could notify you late in the evening on the notification date." So DEFINITELY contact that site with the 12/11 deadline!! Good luck! 🙂

Totally agree, just want to know the deal at this point, good or bad.last year mailman sent out invitations on two separate dates... so maybe not all hope is lost?
is it just me, or does this week feel like an eternity?? about to lose it!!!! haha jk... kinda
Re Mailman, the invites that went out- what track? Those dates aren't what I have written in my excel doc from the brochure re open houses... of course they could have changed but I'm wondering if they do different tracks on different days, which might be associated with who was or wasn't contacted yet.... and that's my very stretched logic for remaining hopeful... wow writing/language is very difficult right now.

Haha thanks! i"m not sure how many alternates one would possibly have… maybe 10? who knows! That does seem ridiculous. I can see why you designated them as a "safety site," it sounds like your instincts were correct! "I guess 3.5 now?!" made me giggle. Sending you positive vibes that you will get interviews from the sites you are waiting on, so that you don't feel as much pressure to drop everything and go to an interview there at the last minute!
I did get another interview today, at University of TN for both the General and St. Jude's tracks, but even though I called back right away, the date I could come on was already booked! They were like sorry you have to come on the 7th, and I'm already supposed to be in Long Beach, CA the next day… there is no possible way for me to get there in time! So I am kind of freaking out because I don't know what to do now! I feel like it will look bad if I request to change my Guidance Center interview on the 8th, and that might not even really be possible anyway… Any suggestions??
