Going to repeat my question from yesterday (sorry everyone 😉): Anyone know if UCSD/VA is still notifying people today? Their notification date on the directory is today.

Rejection from Southern Illinois University. Very polite email. The training director indicated that they accidentally sent offers to some people they intended to reject. I did not receive an offer, thankfully--I had that happen last year that a site offered me an interview and then took it back because they realized they had offered too many interviews and it felt HORRIBLE.

Good luck today everyone!! Here is hoping for great news for all of us!

I got the same rejection email EXCEPT I got an invite last night. So they revoked my invitation and I definitely had a WTF moment!

There was one post yesterday or the day before (can't remember) about a friend getting rejected from MGH.. so now I am even more confused
Yes I saw that too....that post made me think they must have a "maybe" pile

ugh! that is horrible. they should just suck it up and interview everyone they offered to, maybe they would have to stay late, but taking it back is so much worse. Glad that you weren't played like that again!

Isn't that the worst feeling in the world? Having the interview and then having it taken away. I think they should honor all the invites they sent, it's not YOUR fault they made the error!

It was extra-horrible last year because I got the invitation on a Saturday afternoon, and the email revoking the interview said something along the lines of "Oops, that's what I get for doing this on a Saturday, haha"--SUPER professional!

Didn't sound like a site you'd want to be at anyway with the way they handle things. Just utterly appalled with the lack of professionalism.

Although I sympathize with this sentiment, I think that a quick correction and not offering an interview is in the best interest of the applicant (who likely would have a very long shot at getting matched there). It's certainly a crappy situation all around. At any rate, even if the site does offer an interview, they should be clear about what happened so the applicant has transparency about where they stand (i.e., the very bottom) going in.

I am so sorry. That is really horrible. I mean come on folks get it together. You had ONE job. I'd call them and say "Nope, sorry. No take backs! I'm coming" just for fun.

🙂good luck everyone today!!! More interview invites for all of us today!
So far I have three interviews, 6 (official) rejections, and still waiting to hear from 13 sites.

Rejection via brief email (personalized with name but not much else) to UC-Davis CAARE 12/5

Today invite via phone call to Advocate Family Care Network (IL) 1/6

First rejection. Mass email from University of Houston CAPS. This was a stretch for me.....but 5 interviews and 1 rejection so far is great! It hurts but I am ok!

Just now: General invite from Oregon Health & Science University. Two dates offered 1/14 and 1/17.

Thanks everyone! I got my rejection (I remember reading the email and being like, if this is a joke it is not funny. You emailed me less than 12 hours ago inviting me for an interview 😵) moments before doing my first interview (phone) and had to quickly compartmentalize! I just still don't understand how someone could send invites out by mistake. Anyways, I (think) I had a good phone interview so I am going to try and concentrate on that.

In other news, also received the rejection from Uni of Houston CAPS.

I hope the day the day improves! It's been an anxiety-ridden day!

Mass email rejection this morning from St. Joseph's Healthcare, Hamilton. What a way to start a Friday!

Mass generic rejection from Beth Israel Medical Center via email yesterday.

After making myself crazy yesterday (because I did not hear from Franciscan's, but others had), I received an invite about an hour ago!

If anyone is feeling bad, at least you're not me! 😉
1 interview, 7 rejections, 13 left to hear from but 4 are probable rejections because others have heard back.

This whole process is terrible for self esteem!

University of Houston UCC Rejection 12/6 - generic email
MEDVAMC Houston VA Invitation 12/5 via personal email - 1/6, 1/10, 1/13, 1/17 morning and afternoon slots

I'm not sure if this will make you feel better or worse, but I'm at...3 rejections, NO interviews, 10 left to hear from and 2 are probable rejections based on other's invitation posts. God speed on an invitation, please!

I guess it really depends on the nature of the mistake, and how many people were affected. If they accidentally sent invitations to people who were definitely going to be rejected, it seems unfair to have them put time and energy into an interview when they're not going to match there. Someone mentioned that they might have invited too many people, though. In my opinion, if they narrowed down the pool to the strongest applicants, and then realized that they were slightly over their target (so maybe they wanted to interview 30, had 35 in the running, and accidentally invited those 5 extra), then the site should deal with the inconvenience of interviewing a few more people than intended.

ETA: I went back and saw that it was another site that invited too many people, not this one.

I just got my official rejection email from MGH.......not that surprised (given that they already sent out invites) but it still sucks

Ugh, I'm sorry. I'll cross my fingers for you!

I'm a third timer... and all I can say to everyone is keep the faith! I'm blessed to have 4 interviews so far and 12 left to hear from. Somehow, those before me have survived, I have survived, and until this process is "fixed" others after me will survive! Whatever will be, will be! 🙂

Sure, I agree with this. Too many invites, the site should just take it. Mistaken emails to individual applicants, though, should simply be corrected.
