Still nothing from University of Minnesota Counseling Center?
If it were me, I'd be excited to get the email and then disappointed when I remembered it was a test email. 😉
Radio silence.
Any day now... If it helps, my best friend called me last night to tell me she had a feeling I'd hear from them today. She's been right before, but that could be confirmation bias.
Has anyone received a response from Boston Children's Hospital after emailing the program coordinator? (the app. instructions told applicants to email about the status of their app this week). Has anyone independently received news about an invite for this site?
aw boo! hope you hear some good news today!Woke up to a rejection from Devereux. Felt this was probably coming. I saw that they raised their assessment hours by a lot this year, which likely made me less competitive, and it wasn't the best fit. Actually perhaps relieved to get this rejection, but hoping the rest of the day goes better. Still waiting on 10 more sites!
Hoping for good news for everyone!
Thanks! Hope you do too!aw boo! hope you hear some good news today!
Also haven't heard anything from Boston Children's--the whole "e-mail us during this week" thing seemed kind of weird to me... In another spot on their website it sounded more like they followed the usual procedures (we invite strong candidates yadda yadda...) so we'll see!Emailed and haven't heard anything yet.

Everyone seems to have different thoughts on this. Some people might find it annoying to get another email, and if you interviewed with more than one person, I have heard that it can be hard to know who to send it to. One of my professors suggested possibly sending a brief hand written thank you so that it can more globally reach the site than an email would. How do people feel about thank-you notes (I was thinking mostly email)? I keep hearing varied opinions about it "not being required" or you're "not supposed to" or "it's good to mention the fit AGAIN". Thoughts?
What have people done so far?

I don't know generally but I know NY sites have all agreed NOT to accept thank yous, so if you're applying in that area, it's a definite no.

Yeah, how do you not accept a thank you?
Personalized rejection from UNC Chapel Hill.
Same here 🙁Mass rejection from Hefner VA
This made me giggle.
Yeah, how do you not accept a thank you?
Glad I could add some comic relief to this stressful situation. 🙂 I just have this picture in my head of thank you notes being thrown into the fire and not being ranked high because we did the polite and etiquette-appropriate thing by thanking someone. Maybe it's because I was raised in the South but it just doesn't seem right, y'all! 😉
I think it more meant that it will not be seen as a positive, and might be perceived as a negative. But this made me smile, too.
LOL!! I know!! I was totally planning on writing thank you cards, I wasn't going to get all crazy and write one to every single person I interview with, but just one thank you card to the site. However, it may be ripped to shreds upon arrival. 😉
I'm so confused. Is the thinking behind this that by thanking someone you are telling them you are not as interested in their site? Or maybe it's like interviewing for a job. I can't think of anytime when I've interviewed for a job and then sent the interviewer/company a thank you. I'm a fan of common courtesy so this perplexes me.
It came in around 945am I think. Hope you hear something good!Sorry to hear! I applied there also and I know they sent offers a few weeks ago but I still haven't heard either way. What time did it come through? Maybe I'll be hearing from them later today.
You think? I can absolutely see how a thank you card will not influence your ratings positively, but negatively? Wow.
During one of my internship interviews, the TD and I discussed this and she said this is not like grad school interviews (i.e. Follow-up w/ a thank you). She said your opportunity to interact with the site is during interviews only. So we chuckled when I said "Okay, then I'm sincerely thanking you now and you will not receive a note from me in the mail." 🙂
I sent thank you emails to each person who spent time with me one on one after one interview and received positive responses from all.Thank you for sharing this CheetahGirl! So do NOT send thank you cards to any site, correct?

has anyone applied to/heard from AHRC- New York City or the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center?
I was raised to send thank you notes for just about everything, particularly job interviews. So last year I was prepared to send out thank you notes for interviews until I read on this forum that it really isn't done nor necessary. Sites just assume if you're going to bother going to the interview that you appreciate the interview, no thanks needed. When they rank you, they're not going to check off a check mark for having received a thank you. However, the site I'm currently at is a consortium with 4 sites. I interviewed at all 4 sites and one interviewer in particular made a point of giving me her business card and telling me that should I have any questions, please feel free to contact her. So in light of her going the extra mile to make me feel "wanted" I felt I should send her a thank you. I did and she actually responded back to my thank you telling me how much she enjoyed meeting me etc. I did not send thank you notes for the other interviews at that site or anywhere else I interviewed. So in my opinion, if someone shows particular interest in you, then I would send a personal thank you, otherwise I do not think that sites expect thank you's.How do people feel about thank-you notes (I was thinking mostly email)? Same!I applied to Mount Sinai and haven't heard a dang thing either!
