Just research first which of your school(s) will accept them.
 
So I've gone to some interviews and I just heard back from the first one - deferral until March. And I thought that, out of that one and the ones before it, I did the best on the one that gave me a deferral. So now I'm worried the others are rejections or wait-lists. Which is making me worry that I'm going to be in that 7% on that GPA/MCAT grid that doesn't get in anywhere this year. Oh God no.

Definitely not. Different schools look for different things, there will be a lot of acceptances coming your way!!! Also, finally googled your SDN handle and realized its from Rome. I loved that show, can't believe I didn't remember the main character's name!

You're sitting pretty right now, and lots of people would kill to be in your position. Tons of people every year have to reapply with crazy stats, so be happy with what you've been dealt (which is extremely good). People on this thread are struggling to get their first interviews or reapplying

sigh most of my secondaries complete around mid to end of october. Applied to 30 schools, rejected from 6, 3 on hold, and silence from 20...it's almost been 2 months and any longer I'm starting to think they're all silent rejections 🙁 PLEASE JUST ONE INTERVIEW!

Jeez we were complete about the same time and I've still heard nothing. Good luck, there's a chance at least a few in those 20 will bite!

Yep, for better or for worse, being URM makes a big difference in acceptances. Notice, for example, 75% acceptance for 3.0/30 Black applicants versus 30% for White applicants with the same numbers. I won't get into my personal opinions, but there are situations where this is both great and, arguably, unfair.
 
Waitlisted at 1 school and now waiting to hear back from another that I interviewed about 3 weeks ago. This second school might be my last chance due to the silence I've gotten from the 10 other schools I've applied to. It's killing me that this second school is also behind on its decisions due to the AMCAS delay. So it could be another 3 weeks before I find out....

Waitlists suck, but they're not rejections. I'm on the EVMS waitlist, as well. Just remember that they accept nearly 70% of OOS applicants. You're still in a great spot.

Haha yeah, but the fact that we probably won't hear anything until May doesn't make it any less of a panic

On the list at UCF. Said they can "basically guarantee" an acceptance but until I get it I don't feel any better.

In need of some good news.

It seems that schools are just getting around to October applications, so don't give up hope yet!
 
36 mcat, 3.4 gpa (nontrad, last several years 4.0)
~30 applications, complete early-mid august
~10 pre-interview rejections
3 II (oddly from my last 3 completed secondaries and some of the higher ranked schools i applied to)
2 "decision deferred" and 1 WL
been silent for months

Solely based on that (well above average MCAT, a bit below average GPA, lots of schools applied to, 3 interviews, and still potentially being open at 15+ schools), I would say your chances look pretty good.

Rejection from Mich U and Cornell yesterday, 2 ii and no acceptances. Haaaaate

I can speak with reasonable certainty that interviews are being extended very slowly right now. I still haven't heard back from 10 schools, though half of them are upper-tier and will probably reject me sometime next year. Having looked at most of the school-specific threads, it seems like late applicants are bearing the brunt of the processing delay this summer. Some schools just have an embarrassingly disorganized review process.

This application cycle is far from over, guys. Your interviews are right around the corner.

Thanks! Don't entirely agree with the bolded, though. Have seen many late applicants receive II's ahead of people who submitted much earlier (myself included). If anything I think it's the non-stellar stat folks who are bearing the most delays.

Hey guys, I don't know if this is a big "no-no" or not regarding interviewing etiquette, but at one of my interviews, I brought in with me a Starbuck coffee I just bought. I didn't think much of it since I didn't want to throw it away right after I have just bought it. Is this as bad as chewing gum during an interview?
 
Is this week or next week the last week adcoms work before they go on vacation? I can't believe I wish there to be more working days instead of holidays😎

I would suspect a lot of ADCOMs will want to have things off their desk prior to leaving for the break- but who knows?

You need to burn off some of that stress. Hit the gym or go for a run. It'll clear your mind and tire you out physically. You might even get some good endorphin release!
