I haven't heard anything about a second look day so I'm guessing they don't have one. Kind of disappointing. Has anyone heard differently?

what UB forum?

This one. Another member posted this back in mid march:

I sent Mr. Rosso an email inquiring about whether or not that April 1st deadline was true and this is the response:

Hi Michael,

The Screening Committee must be completed by April 1st so we can invite those candidates that the Committee wants to invite for the month of April. Our last interview session is at the end of April.

Our Freshman Medical Class is not completely filled. We currently have 119 candidates in the class of 140, and it does change due to turnover. Candidates who are interviewed in April have as good a chance of being accepted as a candidate interviewed last October. I hope this clarifies things a little. Best regards.

Any guesses on how many students may have been accepted so far?
From the email AMCAS sent this morning:

"4. By March 30 of the matriculation year, March 15 for M.D.-Ph.D. programs, each school or program have issued a number of offers of acceptance at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and have reported those acceptance actions to the AAMC Section for Medical School Application Services"

TL;DR They have accepted at least 140+, or the number they are aiming at for the final number of matriculants

Interviewing in a few weeks. Just wondering if anyone who has already interviewed could share their experience. Not necessarily looking for exact questions, but just for a feel of the conversation and of the day as a whole.

I found the conversations with interviewers were pretty straightforward. They are required (or at least that's what they said) to ask a few pre-scripted "what would you do in this situation" type questions but nothing hard.

The rest of the day was pretty disappointing. You have to dig for any real information about the school (I asked a lot of questions of the students at lunch) and the exceedingly long tour tells you almost nothing. I found the lab tech and IT guy they introduce to you highly unimpressive. The tour guide is entertaining, but often talks about completely random stuff (i.e. 45 minutes in the brain museum talking about Alzheimer's research not even happening at UB). They also spend a lot of time talking about the new school, which won't open until our third year when we won't being using the new facilities often anyways. I'm attending despite all of this, but it definitely wasn't the interview day that sold me.

I went back a few pages on this thread and read somewhere that update letters/LOIs don't really make a difference in our standing on the wait list. Is that true? Because I am thinking of writing one, but don't want to send one in if it won't really make a difference

If it's a really important update then send it; it won't hurt you. Note however, that if you have yet to interview they won't use it. As far as a LOI, they are normally good ideas if this is your Number 1 school and you ALREADY hold an acceptance at another school. Otherwise LOI's look like your desperate which can sometimes rub the ADCOM the wrong way. -Advice from Pre-Med advisers.

I heard LOI/updates don't matter AFTER the interview is over because you have a final score already. But if you feel that you really have something important to add, and that you will feel better after sending it.. then why not?

If you have been invited to an interview (not yet attended), you can bring the updates to the interview and they will add it to your file BEFORE your final score is given. So updates can make a difference before they decide on your final score (before the committee meeting on the decision.)

Thanks for the responses everyone! I was also wondering if anyone knows if they've released the ranking for the wait list yet? I checked my status on the website, and it doesn't give a specific rank, so I'm not sure if I'm looking at the wrong place or if they just haven't released the ranks yet

Wait list rankings have not been released. At my interview last week, they said that they may not be dividing the waitlist into thirds as they have done in previous years. If they decide to divide up the waitlist, it will show up in your online status.

They said on my interview day that they will not be breaking up the waitlist unless the dean of admissions changes his mind. Only way of knowing if they plan to do so is by calling but they may not release such info

I interviewed on 3.26. Does anyone else who interviewed around then recall Mr. Rosso saying decisions would be out tomorrow?

Mr. Rosso said that the committee was going to meet two weeks after the interview date on a Wednesday and then decisions/status updates would be posted the Thursday after, by around lunch time.

hey guys. first time poster here. Just wanted to share my bad news. Checked the status today and said Non-Accept 🙁 Supper bummed. Good luck to others!

Has anyone heard anything about this alleged student housing weekend? I couldn't find anything about it in last year's thread but I was just wondering generally when/if it is held.

I actually already have an apartment lined up but it would be a good opportunity to meet people!

As above, does anyone know when we receive our financial aid/ scholarship package? Also when do we coordinated our student housing and register for classes? Is the acceptance package sent via email all the iinformation we will receive?

I have sent all forms (fafsa, CPR certificate, tution deposit, health form). I feel lost.

I got my financial aid after being accepted late February. Scholarships are distributed sometime in may I heard, got one couple weeks back. So I think some ppl have received something . Housing info was in that acceptance email, housing weekend is in June

Did they email you with the financial aid info or did you just find it on your MyUB acct?

Is there a place to check online if they have received your transcripts?

Found it on the account. They probably waiting to get everything finalized before sending that email.

Idk probably have to call to check

Well they said that they interview about 600 applicants. Probably accept 150-200 outright. Reject like 50-100. Rest go on waitlist. Something like that. 1/3-1/2 of those on waitlist are accepted I belive

I would recommend checking your UBMail account! I checked mine today for the first time and saw my financial aid award letter and other important info was sent there.

How did you log into your UBmail? Did you just use your UBITName and the password you created?

I called the financial aid office a few days after the my initial post and was informed that graduate students do not receive written notification. All financial aid information can be found in the student web portal

I have been very fortunate to have been accepted this cycle.. very, very sad to say that I will be withdrawing from this amazing school. Does anyone know how I can go about doing this? Email?

I emailed Mr. Rosso when I withdrew and got a confirmation email back from him. I think that's probably the best way to go about it.

Have you guy or are you guys getting your meningitis vaccine? I don't know if I've gotten it- probably not- and wondering if I should since I'm unsure...I don't want to have to go get a titer and all that jazz to figure it out :/

Also, how long after the FAFSA did you guys receive financial aid/scholarship info?

My FAFSA was processed last week, and I just got my financial aid package today. Email Mr. Ryan if you're curious; he told me when I could expect to get it.

You are supposed to get a meningitis vaccine every ten years, although some people (including my doctor in Buffalo) recommend a booster every four years. Most colleges require you have one before you matriculate so you probably had one before undergrad - I'd check your records. There actually has been some documented cases of meningitis around the country recently and it's one of those diseases you don't want to mess with so I'd just go for it.
