wtf? I want to see this july 1 phone acceptance email

and so concludes this cycle
When i last spoke to Mr. Rosso, he said they would begin calling acceptances around July 1st. I feel that it is weird that person got a call because usually Mr. Rosson will send an email out asking for daytime phone numbers, etc or where you can be reached and no one I know has received an email asking for those numbers yet. Maybe this person got an email and just mistyped?
Yeah I'm surprised too. I agree with your thinking. They definitely do send an email regarding it.
It doesn't make sense that one person would get the email and the rest wouldn't. Every year they send the email regarding phone calls to everyone still on the wait list...I'm not completely buying drrx's story. He/she very well may have gotten an email, but since the rest of us haven't, and because the email above is literally the same wording as in previous years, it could have been easy to cut and paste it and create an easy panic. Lol.
If drrx did get an email, good for him/her, but since drrx is outnumbered like 1 to 7 so far, I really doubt it. This is a crazy time for everyone, and IF this is a joke, playing on everyone's emotions in this thread who are waiting isn't right.

I truly hope you're joking
It makes sense, it's just an odd coincidence that there are so many of what would have been bottom thirds in this thread
Everyone, I am sorry that this is causing so much frustration. I am not trying to create panic. It's certainly possible that there was a human error or technical glitch that could've led to some people not receiving this email. I am in the same boat as you guys and I know better to not play with people's emotions at a time like this.

First time poster here. There may very well have been an error on UBs part, but does anyone else find it weird that this supposed email says they will start calling on July 1st, but someone received an acceptance call today?

I was baffled by that too!
The timing to get that email is right, honestly. I remain pessimistic

Didn't expect my update would start such a panic/worrisome mess; sorry I didn't provide enough details.
I got a call from Mr. Rosso at approximately 12pm 6/25. I got the "we will start making calls on 7/1 and what's your #" email several days earlier. It is earlier than expected but it's only few days from 7/1 and maybe a couple of people withdrew, so it's nice that they bring the good news earlier rather than following the waitlist process blindly.
I am Asian male, OOS, with 32 MCAT and GPA of 3.8. Thought I had a pretty good interview and provided several updates after I interviewed. Not saying the latter helped but I am into this school so maybe they saw it.
GL to y'all, just know that the waitlist monster has awaken!

I'm starting to believe it was the bottom half that was excluded from this email, rather than the bottom third. Or something like that
Let's just say even if the bottom half was excluded, this still makes a lot of sense because they start making calls from the top. Thus, there is no need to have the latter half start preping their minds/time/energy/expectation too early. I know that this sounds a bit condescending, but chances are you would most likely get these email when their call list approaches the bottom half.
I just got the direct phone call email from Mr. Rosso just now. I'll bet enough people contacted him yesterday that he decided to send it out to everyone else today.
drrx, what did the email that you got say? One of your posts says that it was "Removed for privacy reasons"...which I'm assuming was about the email? I'm very confused
It was just an email saying that they are going to be starting phone calls July 1, and to list all the numbers, etc. They do it every year.

This seems plausible because I received one as well.

I agree. Plus, they probably emailed more than just a few people but they just aren't active on sdn to post about it.

Well, I guess whatever happens is for the best. If anything, we learned a little bit more about the process today. The people who received the email (prior to today) are more likely to be called earlier than people who didn't. But now it seems more people are receiving the phone call email, and I'm not quite sure whether that is because of people emailing/calling (regarding the telephone email and why not everybody received one) or because they were going to do it anyway.
Got the phone acceptance email today too.

Here's the thing:
-The direct phone call email thing was outed on SDN yesterday in the evening, past the point of anyone being able to make contact with Rosso. I got the email at 8:52am. Maybe I'm delusional, but I suspect either he's reading this thread, or they were going to send it out anyway. I'm not sure what to think. As goes without needing to be said, I'm not holding my breath for an acceptance.
So comming to UB and want to know where to live...here are the best options:
1) If you want to enjoy buffalo's younger culture in a safe area downtown many students live around Elmwood. The are is full of young professionals, buffalo's hipsters, grad students, musicians, artists etc. There are bars, restaurants etc. The downside is you are 15-20 minutes from south campus but come 3rd year you are closer to the hospitals. Also when you shop for Elmwood you want to make sure you choose the right section the road is long but the village makes up a specific part. You really can't go wrong safety wise in that area but you might pay a bit more. A large portion of our class is here.
2. Delaware park/ north buffalo
There are 2 parts to this area, large expensive homes that don't rent and are extremely residential and an up and comming part full of students and young professionals near Hertel and Delaware park. Hertel has more and more to do every day, the metro nearby, closer to south campus while still being near the hospitals. It also gives you access to Delaware park which is awesome. This are should be shopped carefully as it is a transition area and there are pockets of great neighborhoods but also pockets of bad ones. I would say if you stay close to the park section of Hertel cross streets your pretty safe.
3. Near south campus
There is Amherst/Snyder area. More residential but right near the highway so you can get everywhere. Campus is 5-10 minutes from this and this will be cheaper than N. Buffalo and Elmwood. (Roommates I know split a 3 bedroom for 200 a piece).
4. Kenilworth
Nobody knows it exists, but it's a small pocket of neighborhoods directly north of south campus. There are tons of students and a few frat houses mixed in but as you go north it becomes quieter and more residential. Just avoid Kenmore and the block or 2 north, everything after that is good and really cheap...best part is its 5 mins or less to campus.
5 Chippewa
Buffalo's true downtown district. As a typical downtown bar club district safety is variable but we'll patrolled by police, but if you want the full downtown buffalo experience this is it. There are apartments being added every day with the school's move downtown and the new Catholic health system building. You can prob find your self a deal and it will be re ally convenient for the school bar nights.
What's the reason why you say to avoid Kenmore and a block or 2 north of it? Thanks for posting this by the way!

Location isn't so safe as compared to other areas near the school.

Honestly, I think what happened was that the email WAS sent to a select number of individuals last Friday. Yesterday night we learned about this, which sent people panicking and emailing Mr. Rosso, etc. When he walked into the office this morning, I'm sure he had 10 emails all asking the same thing (why some got the email, others didn't, etc) so he just went ahead and sent the email to everyone (even though I'm not sure it was meant to be this way) to reduce stress.
Unfortunately for the majority of us, it does look like UB tipped its hand in this one. If you got the email last week, congrats, you are in good shape. This does not mean the rest of us are out of it though...as the wait list moves we might still get lucky. It's not probable, but just understand if we get calls it will be at the very very very end on July or beginning of August and it will be due to sheer luck.

This sounds sort of ridiculous, but what time did everyone get that phone email on the 26th?

Same time as you. 8:52.
Yep it was a stupid question
Nope not at all. We are all under stress and curiosity to see where you stand is not considered stupid. At least not in my book anyway.Yep it was a stupid question
Good luck to everyone here on the waitlist/ alternate list today. I'm currently alternate listed at SUNY Downstate and have been rejected everywhere else =\
Hold on to hope and keep trying and praying. Good luck again to everyone today.

Hi all! Did anyone get the acceptance call on 7/1?? (if you don't mind me asking 🙂)

What makes you think they called people on 7/1?

Oh, my bad. "since 7/1"* or "7/1 or after" is what I should have typed. Sorry for the confusion! =)
never has the silent treatment been so profound in its effects
Anyone taken off the waitlist yet???
