SAME HERE!!!! I am starting to think there is some glaring typo on my AAPI or I wrote something really ridiculous and just didn't realize it! The first thing people ask when they see me is "Do you have any interviews yet?" and I can't stand the looks of pity when I say no. At any rate, I am still hopeful, I remember not getting any invites in November but wound up with 7 interviews by Dec. 15 of last year.

I really think that we should get all of our rejections and invites consolidated in one email that we know is going to come at a certain time. That way we can get over the rejections and be excited for the interviews instead of this prolonged, agonizing period of obsessively checking our emails and phones, being disappointed, and wondering (fearing) whats coming next.

I've actually applied to all the branches, which has been the paperwork nightmare from hades. It is quite the involved process but it'll be worth it in the end if I get a placement with one of the branches. Crossing my fingers. You interested as well?
 
I'm also curious to hear about the UCSD/VA... I haven't heard anything since Tuesday. Did anyone get an additional invite Wed. or yesterday?

Four interviews, one rejection, and waiting on 7. Part of me hopes, for financial reasons, that I am only offered invites from my top sites at this point. This feels like too much traveling already!

Yes sir, only Army sites though. I went in through HPSP this past year. I will be traveling with another HPSP student next week to a few interviews (Walter Reed Dec 4th and Brooke December 7th). Very exciting! I will keep my fingers crossed for you as well as it seems you are really interested in serving 🙂
 
Just one rejection. Waiting on 20 more notifications. Feels like the waiting never ends...

Two interview invitations.
Two rejections.
22 more sites to go.....

Just out of curiosity.....is anyone else just a little concerned that we have to book flights, interview, and rank sites by February 6th?? Considering that it's practically already December...I'm worried I wont be able to afford to do much more....flights are creeping up there.

What are your thoughts on phone interviews? I foresee a couple in my near future if I dont get more notifications soon.....😕

Ha, I hear that. I got a rejection this morning and was relieved... between the flight, hotel, and rental car, it saved me $500+! For a site that I'm not super into, I don't want to spend that much.

2 interviews, 2 rejections, 9 to go.

4 interviews, 2 rejections, still waiting to hear from 11 sites. The reality of this process is really starting to set in!

Wow. Yeaaaaa...I'm definitely not feeling a $500 travel expense if I dont have butterflies about the site.
 
Generic email invite to Western Psych Institute & Clinic for 1/11 or 1/18! 😀 Thought this one would be a long shot for sure.
 
I have a question: for the rejection emails- courtesy speaking, should we reply to that and say ty for the consideration even if I was not the right fit? Or just ignore and move on? Never hurts to be polite, just don't know if it's called for in cases of mass emails.

I haven't replied to them. I figure no one wants to get 200 "thanks for the rejection" emails... I'd assume they'll be more annoying than appreciated.

I agree that is probably not necessary, but I did respond to a generic rejection email and received a lovely, and humorous, personalized response.

Slow day... thought we'd get a surge today, but no dice.

(Btw, my friend just texted me that she just got offered an interview at the Loma Linda VA (aka Jerry Pettis VA) -- I don't have any more info about email/phone or dates, but thought I'd post the info anyways!)
 
Interview at Arkansas BHS. Mass email 12/14 1/4 1/11 1/25.Rejection James Haley. Nothing from Bay Pines. 6 interviews 2 rejection 10 left
 
Hey, just got an invite for an interview at Loma Linda VA. It was a generic email "good morning!" My name wasn't even on it, so I'm hoping they meant to send it to me! 🙂 The interview dates they sent me to choose from were 12/18 from 8-1 and 1/8 from 8-1. Hopefully they get back to me soon b/c flights from Fort Lauderdale to LAX esp right before Xmas are super $!

Phone call invite for an interview!! Also got a "personalized" rejection email from WJCS earlier today.
 
Caught another one!

Personalized invite from the DCT for Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. She let me pick my own date....so you knoooow I picked the end of January. I need time to sell an organ and have a bake sell to afford the travel! But never the less....I got another one. That's 3!

Received a mass email rejection notice from Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. I did not have my heart set on this internship by any means but rejection hurts! Kinda! Even though I know that I will probably get many of these.
 
Has anyone heard from NYU: Langone Medical Center or North Bronx Healthcare?

I have not heard anything from NYU Langone, but I know they were hit hard from Hurricane Sandy and I'm guessing that internship applications are not their #1 priority (and rightly so!). So I'm not banking on hearing anything from much of the NY/NJ sites before the deadline.

I agree. I saw that on the news.
I know this comment is gonna annoy everyone...but wouldn't it be nice if APPIC pushed back ranking like....maybe one or 2 weeks? That would give us more time to interview. Although...we'd have to wait another 2 more weeks to find out. =/ ....just feeling the pressure.

I'm right there with you -- and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to schedule interviews when so many programs want the first two weeks in January. Much less how I'm ever going to pay for all this last-minute travel! I feel like they have to change this system somehow, if even just to structure interview dates by region (i.e., all sites west of the Mississippi River the first half of Jan, all the sites east the second half of Jan, or something like that).
 
Four invites to interview at: (1) FCI Tallahassee (2) Wisconsin Department of Corrections (3) State Operated Forensic Services Hospital (4) Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

My good luck ran out today with: 2 rejections, one personalized email from (1) Atascadero State Hospital and (2) generic email from FCI Fort Worth.

One other rejection last week from FMC Rochestor.

Waiting on 20 sites 😱
 
Has anyone not heard from them? I feel like I am the only one waiting on them? My friends have all heard back.

Meh, I don't really agree. I mean... some people here applied to like 30 sites! Honestly, if you're applying to that many, you're going to have a hard time booking interviews.

Yes, it's frustrating that we have to manage booking interviews and flights and everything at the last minute, but some people put themselves in that situation by applying to so many sites. Changing the ranking deadline would just exacerbate the problem and quite frankly I don't think I could take more time off work/externship.

I did that last year, it certainly WASa lot of work! I'd love to hear your impressions after you go to all the branches, feel free to PM me!
 
Three rejections and one wait list notification so far. I am waiting on 17 sites.

One of those sites is Bay Pines VA - is anyone else still waiting?

WHY does it take from Feb 6 to Feb 22 for a computer to run its program? When MD students do their residencies, the turnaround time is just a few days. I cannot imagine why the ranking --> matching process takes SO long!

I have absolutely nooo idea! Makes no sense. Put the rank numbers in the system....press submit...and viola! Or...at least that's how it works out in my head. I'm sure there's more to it than that.

Also, in response to LETSGONYR's comment ....i think it was more of a generic silly request. I doubt any one person can email APPIC and make this frivolous request and it be granted. Also--lots of people apply to more than 15 sites because students at their school in prior years who applied to less, did not match. Every school's "magic number" is different. Even so, if you apply to 12 sites and get 8-10 interviews....that is still challenging to book. So.....

Anyone who got an invite from Bay Pines hear back from them yet confirming their date? I emailed them right after the invite with my preference and still haven't heard about the date. Just wanted to see if everyone was waiting or if I should try calling. Thanks!
