Personalized email offering interviews on January 4th, 7th, and 11th at either 9 AM or 1 PM...first site I have heard back from!!!!
 
I too received an invite to the Puget Sound-American Lake (Tacoma, WA) open house. I am very impressed with their site, but I can't attend the open house. Do any of you have suggestions for how to phrase an e-mail reply declining the open house invitation? They say that attending the open house does not affect rankings, but I just want to reaffirm that I am very interested in the site even though I can't visit so that they don't think I'm dismissing them. Or does it even matter?

I'm also unable to attend their open house, so I'm wondering the same thing! I was thinking I'd email and tell them I was excited to be invited, even though I can't come, and ask if it would be possible for me to email one of the current interns in order to ask some questions about the site. I think (hope?) that would express my interest without being too invasive. Thoughts?

I was considering that too--it sounds like a good idea. Was hoping to get some feedback if anyone had done something similar last year, though.

Glad we both got the invite, even though we can't attend! 🙂 Positive thoughts for everyone else who is frantically checking their e-mail right now.

Phone invite to Yale Child Study Center this morning. My top site. So excited after several rejections last week.
 
Mass email invitation to Hennepin County Medical Center (Adult Track) received 12/6. Interview dates Jan 7th and Jan 11th.
 
Rejection from Connecticut Valley Psychology Internship at River Valley Services - generic email.
 
Just got a call from UC Davis CAARE Center - my top pick!!! I could literally burst into a rainbow!

Phone Call; Dates Jan 22, 23, or 24 - 9 am or 1pm (option for joining them for lunch either way at 12).

This is pretty validating to hear. My eyelid has been twitching intermittently for the last two weeks. Totally stress related, but I don't overtly feel stressed.

What?!?! That is horrible! Someone over there needs to check their list 2-3 times before hitting send on those emails. Sorry about that. I hope you get good news!

I hope that you do awesome at the interview!
 
Personalized rejection email from West LA VA. That makes 4 rejections in a row from yesterday afternoon 'till now. Trying to manage anxiety while waiting on the rest! At least I have 4 interviews? Sigh. 🙁

That, my friend, is awesome!
I like to think that the sites that are impressed with their interviewees enough on paper will fall so madly in love with them in person that they will undoubtedly offer them a wonderful internship experience in which they will grow... and live happily ever after.
Maybe I'm trying too hard to convince myself, but really, you must be pretty doggone awesome on paper to have 4 interviews before December 15th!

Also, it's really wonderful to see how people are supporting each other and cheering others on! I look forward to (fingers crossed) getting to meet some of you on internship next year!
 
Just received a generic attached email invite for the Dallas VA- dates, January, 7, 10, and 14th. I applied for the medical track.

I was about to post the same 🙁 So far 1 interview and 5 rejections. Anyone else feeling terrified?

I have one interview and 3 rejections, and 2 sites that dropped. Feeling a little scared but from what I hear from past cohorts, most of the invitations don't come until closer to the 15th. So I'm trying not to go too crazy.

Question, I saw Tarzana on the invitation list but not on the rejection list? Has anyone gotten a rejection e-mail from them? If I haven't heard from them yet should I still be hopeful? I'm hoping I hear soon, as I think their interviews are in December.

4 rejections, no interviews - but 14 sites left to hear from, so not freaking TOO much... yet!
 
I got a rejection from CRH today by email and a personalized email invitation for an interview at the St. Louis Consortium yesterday. The interview didn't provide options so the date the gave me was Jan 11th.

Aww, thank you! This was so helpful to read! I guess I needed a little perspective. 🙂 Every time I get a rejection, I start thinking that this is it, I won't get any more invites. I know this is irrational, but I guess I need a reminder sometimes. So glad to have a supportive community going through the same thing!
 
Just got a personalized email invite to interview at Children's Hospital of Orange County. Interview dates are 1/4, 1/8, 1/11, 1/14, 1/17, and 1/18. Interviews are from 8:15-3.
 
4 rejections 1 invite, 10 sites still to hear from. I'm anticipating rejections from 5 more that have already sent out invites, but not rejections. Hope I'm wrong on that.. Still holding out hope for the 5 sites no one has heard from yet.

Thanks socialchick01! Good luck with your work! I just try to tell myself that refreshing the e-mail and constantly checking the SDN doesn't actually change anything...

I am with you, my friend, and waiting for the next notification which will hopefully be more positive. I knew this site was a long-shot for me, but still disappointed. Thankfully, though, it's not as bad as my first rejection, which I'm fairly certain prompted an adjustment disorder w/ depression. Ah, well. We'll all get through this, right?

I also want to chime in and say how beneficial it's been to read everyone else's process, invitations/rejections, somatic symptoms, and general experience with this whole internship process. It's validating and normalizing, with the added benefit of viewing other students as real people and colleagues rather than "the competition." I wish you all the best!!
