2014-15 PM&R Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the same email but I cancelled my interview after originally accepting their invite. They seemed so on top of their ish prior to this. Funny how much weight I'm putting into the program coordinators' communications and general "withitness"

So you didn't have the interview with them at all and still got the ranking email ?

Ok, so it's been quiet here for a bit. Everyone ready for ROL next week? Are people getting contacted by programs about ranking - does that happen? Are we supposed to be contacting our number ones to let them know? I just don't know exactly the game plan at this point. Or just keep quiet and pray?

I think most people do send an email to their #1 program. Does it actually help? Who knows.

I've gotten generic post-interview emails from programs, non-generic post-interview emails, and one phone call FWIW.

Do not rank Metropolitan Hospital! It is a dangerous program for residents. I heard that all the residents hate it there. They kick out residents when they feel like it. The program director and chairman are very malignant, and talk sweet to people's faces when they need to, but try to destroy residents careers as they feel like it. The faculty are lazy, don't teach anything and expect residents to do all their work without lifting a finger! You don't even learn anything and you get kicked out at the drop of a hat! Stay away from this malignant program!
It's better to not match or go into a different specialty than go here!

2 weeks.

I'm so excited for next week! No matter where we end up we will be entering into one of the greatest specialties. Best of luck to everyone! Can't wait to hear where we all end up

Since I am out of med school...this forum will serve as my match party. 😉

I just read this on NRMP's website regarding unmatched programs:

"Reproduction is prohibited without the written consent of the NRMP."

but where did you guys match!?!?

welcome to the field!

Matched.

Also, there were unfilled programs? I'm surprised.

Wasn't due to lack of applicants...a few programs apparently didn't rank enough applicants. This was by far the most competitive year for PM&R. PCs told me they had about a 25% increase in applications this year. We'll have to wait for NRMP charting outcomes to see if that was true.

I matched....but have to SOAP for PGY1 position. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom to share about scrambling/soaping?

Dude I'm Really sorry. This is exactly where my sister was at last year, she got a spot. I'm pm'ing you.

I am not 100%. I did this myself and am matched into an advanced position. I may be a special case though, because I graduated last year and am doing my DO internship this year.

Yes it can be done. One of my colleagues did it. Good luck.

I matched as well. Best of luck to everyone on Friday. I hope you all get your top picks!

The programs I interviewed and asked all said it was okay and provided literature from the national pmr board staying it would be okay as well

LOL. I tried yesterday and they told me "No way, Jose!" I am tempted to try again today.

Addendum: I'm going to Medical Disneyworld!
