Can anyone who interviewed here say how it was?
How should you prepare for it?

Thanks for the reply. Do you know where the SDN interview page is? If you could possibly link me, I'd really appreciate it.There is a list of questions that they ask everyone (eg. how did you study in college, for the MCAT, etc.) If you go to the SDN interview feedback page and practice answers for those, you should be prepared!

Thanks for the help!
yes, I got the hold through emailIf you get hold is it via email?
Does anyone know if interviews in March will be for the waitlist?
I would say that March interviews are likely for waitlist spots, but the waitlist moves, even for March interviewees (like me).
How about a middle February interview? 🙁I would say that March interviews are likely for waitlist spots, but the waitlist moves, even for March interviewees (like me).
Does anyone know any stats regarding how many are interviewed and how many are accepted/waitlisted? Can't seem to find anything online and would be super helpful to know.
Also, if anyone can comment on the interview day/vibe that would also be super helpful. Thanks!
Does anyone know when to send in a letter of interest as well as what to include in the letter? I'm currently on the waitlist. Thanks!
I don't think they're necessarily anti-LOI; I think this is more of a heads-up. For me, they asked me to explain something on my transcript after I sent it to them (my college reported lab grades really weirdly), so I think this is to let people know that they might ask for things like that. I don't have any insight from the admissions POV, though."If you are currently enrolled at a university/college, please send us a copy of your Spring semester grade report when it becomes available. We will notify you if there is a need for additional materials"
I interpreted this as don't send us stuff unless asked, but it prob won't hurt you even if they just toss it.
How fast did you guys hear back after interviewing? I interviewed a few days ago. Do you think it's faster this late in the season?
My personal feeling is to send it when you know it's your first choice. I am not an AdCom or advisor, but I honestly can't see how waiting is any better than just sending it when you know! If they're your top choice their decision won't change your opinion...but your opinion could change their decision! It seems this has been asked time and time again but I have yet to find any sort of consensus, so...
I only interviewed about 2 weeks ago, but Downstate is my absolute top choice - would sending a letter of intent before receiving any sort of decision (hold for spring, waitlist, anything) be effective at all? I know people send them after being WL or hold for spring, but if I wait for a decision and it turns out to be a rejection, I won't even get the chance to send anything. This late in the cycle, as far as Downstate is concerned I could have other acceptances already, so I'm thinking it could be more effective than sending an LOI in November or December?
Not a student but I'm using the Research Day on Apr 1st to talk to and see everything I want to see. I figured it would be better than to trouble other students..If any first years are on here, please respond to admissions' emails about shadow-a-student days! I know you have exams coming up, I would really like to schedule a visit soon.
Exams are next week, so I don't think it's gonna happen til after then. At least that's what I told admissions - I'm happy to have as many students shadow me in April as possible, but exams are next week, and those need to be our priority. We then have a weeklong break, so there's nothing to shadow then, which is why April is probably the earliest it can be.If any first years are on here, please respond to admissions' emails about shadow-a-student days! Did anyone here interview mid-February and have an idea of when we'd hear back especially in light of the March 15th deadline? Thanks!

What does the March 15th deadline entail? Do you have to decide something by then?

When did you apply for aid?
I just went ahead and filled out the FAFSA independently. I received nothing from them telling me to do so..lol, but I assume that was the next logical step. How do you apply for aid? I've been accepted, and they've confirmed that they received my acceptance reply form, but that's it. Will they be sending more information my way?

Mm no I don't think so. All I got offered were Plus loans and Unsubsidized med loans. They did mention something about having to submit the form first (that's included with the package) to be eligible for other loans/scholarships.Did Downstate offer you any school (non-government) loans as part of that package? Do you know if that's even an option? Thanks.

Weird thing was, in regards to scholarships, they say the earlier the better..and gives a priority deadline of March 1st?? I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that's for current students...but idk..I haven't looked at the package carefully enough to really understand the jargon...
Oh, fyi they expect you to either fax the forms back, or bring them back in person.
Yeah I remember reading somewhere on their website that to be considered for institutional financial aid you have to file the fafsa by March 1st….Mm no I don't think so. AFAIK most if not all schools require your parents info whether on Fafsa or by other means...I see from googling stuff that if you want school-based aid, you need to put your parents' information. Is this the case with downstate? And if the deadline has already passed, do I still need to?
These are probably questions for the financial aid department, just curious.
