I got the 3rd week of June email also. I wouldnt worry though, supposedly were still SUPER early for osteopathic.

Yes you guys are still super early. I'm likely done with my app by this time next month and most of my friends who have applied to DO did it post September and still had some success with GPAs such as 3.4cgpa/3.4sgpa with a 26-27 MCAT.

I finally got a copy of my GPA and pdf file that was sent to all schools. I can see the total GPA, but there is not total science GPA, the science GPA's are separated by subject. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?

I would say that it depends on the school. I would imagine that they would look at your UG science courses more heavily since it is part of their requirements. But, some schools may also look at your grad courses as well. In general, I say "if it's in the application, they'll look at it".

Speaking of I noticed my second bachelors was listed as graduate work instead of a post bach. I kinda have mixed feelings about this but it didn't effect my GPA much so ig it doesn't really matter. I emailed AACOMAS about it but they said that's how it's listed on my transcript.

Is applying mid July and be completed by early August still considered early? I will most likely have my letters done by mid July or a little after. I haven't started the application itself but I do have a drafted personal statement that is almost done. Also have to request my transcripts, how long does this all usually take? I'm going to start all the application process this week I hope.

As an underdawg, you are not completely eliminated yet. However, some DO schools will screen you out from interview invites if you don't have at least a 3.25 cGPA and sGPA, it happened to me as I know. My stats were: 3.45 cGPA, 3.12 sGPA, 28 MCAT, research, shadowing, volunteering, 5LOR. Yet, some schools have special admission requirements where if you have below a 3.25 GPA they will consider you on a case by case basis, in which case if you are a good person in real life and ace the interview they are more likely to see your true colors and make a possible exception for you. Otherwise, I am very proud that most of the underdawgs this year have very high MCAT's. If you don't get in, don't worry. The MCAT is the hardest piece of the puzzle. AACOMAS has grade replacement, so keep up retaking classes if you haven't graduated or try to get into a good post-bacc program. Medicine is a long road, and only those who pace themselves with hardwork, discipline, and enthusiasm will make it through healthy and great physicians for society. So I have a question.. My undergrad reported my second Bach as graduate work. I took 3 science classes, Biochem (3hours) Biochem lab (2 hours) and Advanced Physiology (3 hours). I got a C, an A and a B respectfully, so now my graduate science GPA is a 2.9! My "undergrad" is still a 3.31 but will this look bad?? I know some schools just look at undergrad work but it shows a 2.9 for graduate. Is this something I should be calling my university about? I already asked AACOMAS about it and they said that's how my university reported it. I mean if they strictly look at undergrad my science is just a touch higher without my last year, but if not am I going to get screened for having a sub 3.0 on my application?? I just need to know if I need to fix it or if it's a blessing. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Is applying mid July and be completed by early August still considered early? I will most likely have my letters done by mid July or a little after. I haven't started the application itself but I do have a drafted personal statement that is almost done. Also have to request my transcripts, how long does this all usually take? I'm going to start all the application process this week I hope.

So surprising that I scheduled a retake late July, but with the application process going on I am so caught up with that, and haven't been studying as much as I should. Thinking of early August. From what I understand, I can submit my 26 now, and start the app process (receiving secondaries), and if I choose to take an August exam I can submit that MCAT score as well, perhaps gaining more secondaries.

You have to add yourself to the list (read the instructions). I think your MCAT is fine. Take it again only if you think you have a good chance of increasing your score. Also, there is no real good "safety list." A lot of schools are erratic in the type of individual the accept. I would look at every school and see the stats of the average student

Hoping to get some comfort through this thread. Reapplicant for TX MDs, first time applicant for DO schools. TMDSAS GPA not very good (cGPA: 2.87, sGPA: 3.15), AACOMAS better (cGPA: 3.13, sGPA: 3.35), MCAT 32(P14/V8/B10). Have huge upward trend. Returned to college after 10 years (first time around, probably had about 2.6 GPA), did about 40 hours including upper division portion of biochem degree, with probably over 3.9 GPA since returning. Worked in homeless services for over 5 years, tutored math, chem, physics. Have pretty strong ECs, with a fair amount of clinical exposure. Applying broadly to DO programs (15 schools). Crossing my fingers that the Caribbean won't be necessary.

Not off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure there are multiple that have a cut off of 24-25. You would have to look into them, sorry.

Where are you getting that? A 24 is generally considered lower end. KCUMB's cut off is a 25 or 24. You could easily find all this by going to the schools' respective web pages

That's what I've done for a few of the schools I'm interested in, and some have said a 24 is "competitive" which I assume not competitive in the sense that it's fantastic score, but more so that they will actually give your application a look. I know a 24 is low and I know a 23 is too.Honestly I haven't really looked at KCUMB because it's not high on my list, just because I hope to stay close to the east coast. I looked at LMU, PCOM (which says they want an 8 or higher per section), VCOM, etc. Thanks for your input, though! I'm leaning toward waiting until next year even though it really breaks my heart to do so, but what can you do but keep trying. Studying for the MCAT will be much smoother without the demands of a full-time job.

I don't think they say 24 is competitive but they say a 24 is where you start getting into the competitive range.
