2015-2016 Temple University Application Thread

+2! At 1:40 AM...
I might look at the first essay as "Why Philadelphia" and the third essay as "Why this program specifically (whatever campus you choose)".
Same.... Does anyone know if there's any other information about these 3 programs besides the websites they gave us?

I wrote mine in the opposite manner. First essay seems more specific to Temple University and it's mission, and the third essay is more a regional question for me since they want you to pick between 3 different regions. You may have a different approach if you selected one of the other two campuses though.
Woot! A nice surprise to wake up to!
Yay! I too, was ready to submit with all the old questions but guess I will be writing 3 now..
Secondary received!
Edit: oops.. didn't see all those people before me lol

Is someone able to give insight into the 3 different campuses? I'm having a hard time finding specific info on the website.
I wouldn't think too much into it.. 1 and 3 are almost the exact same question worded differently. I just wrote about how I want to stay in phillyIs someone able to give insight into the 3 different campuses? I'm having a hard time finding specific info on the website.

@Geekchick921 ?Can any current students comment upon what characteristics set Temple apart?
@Master3930 fair enough! I wanted to submit today, so I found something to write about 🙂

Good point actually, I think I'll approach it this way too.
Where is that? I must be crazy, I don't see them asking for that anywhere!anyone else finding it a pain to get SAT/ACT score screenshots? any way to go about getting access to age-old reports? call them?

Sodo you guys think it's okay to approach the question with location specific reasons versus program reasons?
Alright stupid question time! On the Institutional Action, the statement says something like "you confirm that you were NEVER the recipient of any action ... "
I pick Yes right? The Yes will confirm that I have never had any action.

Haha I was a little thrown off as well but yes that is what I picked.

I took that approach, but I think you have to have good reasons why you would think Philly or any other location would offer more opportunities to you.

So if you took the 2015 MCAT you need SAT/ACT scores? Tracking these down may take some time...
Can anyone explain to me the main differences between the three campuses? Their website is a little hard to understand. Is the "main" campus the one called "Temple University Health System and Affiliates" ?
Info is easier to find if you do t use the link inside the secondary - go to the main website>admission> campuses
Yeah I've been spending all morning on that.so it says! it's gonna unnecessarily delay things..
Yes the official name of the new version of the MCAT is MCAT2015, so your January 2015 MCAT does NOT count. You luck out and avoid the SAT questions.Maybe I'm just burned out from these secondaries haha so maybe this is a stupid question, but when they ask about MCAT2015, they're asking if we took the new version right? I took a January MCAT this year but it was the old version....
What length are you all aiming for when you write the essays? My diversity essay (which I was planning to use for the second question) is a lot longer than I think the others will be...I don't know if this is normal, if I should trim it down, or if I should try to write more for the others
And SATs are archived the same way unfortunately. If your ACT scores are older than 2012 (like mine), they have to do a search of their archives. It costs extra and takes extra time. I'm wondering if this is even worthwhile for someone in my situation who took the ACT a very long time ago.

Mine are from 2009 and I didn't need that at all. There was even a link for if you forgot what email you used!
Edit: SATs only
You guys are crazy, can you even read lol?
"If you are applying with MCAT2015scores, the following optional information may be helpful in our comprehensive review of your application. If you choose to do so, in addition to providing the scores below, please upload a screen shot of your SAT/ACT scores in TMO."
I just called to confirm. ACT/SAT SCORES ARE NOT REQUIRED

Welcome to SDN, where the stats are made up and the instructions don't matter.

Yes, I read the ACT/SAT scores as optional as well. But since they are asking for them and they went to the trouble to build the form into their application website, I'm assuming they would like to see them.
I did well on the ACT, but I don't know if it's worth spending the time and money having them do the archive search. I just called the ACT organization and the representative told me that they are very busy with this type of request right now, so it would likely take several weeks to get the report. He suggested I try contacting my university or high school to get an unofficial report if that would be acceptable. I wonder if Temple would accept that.
In true SDN spirit, I probably shouldn't have told these fools lolWelcome to SDN, where the stats are made up and the instructions don't matter.

They are not going to make a decision based on whether or not you can present your scores/screenshots.

Lizzy M 85 here. I don't know what you're talking about. This is a very trustworthy and thorough group. I submitted my secondary app here 2 weeks ago...

Submitted!

Not at all. I've heard from an admission director at a school in my state that they actually pool people into groups based on if they submitted within a certain time frame. Usually within 2-4 weeks of sending out the secondaries. Obviously each school may be different, but if you get your application in within a couple weeks you will probably be considered for the first set of interviews either way. Those of us who are too impatient to wait 30 minutes before submitting make this process more stressful for everyone else out there 🙂.
If we're pretty much only interested in the main campus, do we just select the main campus three times?
Another q: do you guys think that 3500 characters (w/ spaces) is too much for the why temple essay?
There's no fluff - it's all specific info. But idk... Other schools had much shorter limits :/

I figured no essay should be over 4000characters and the why TUSOM should be that length, imho obvsAnother q: do you guys think that 3500 characters (w/ spaces) is too much for the why temple essay?

It'll definitely be under 4000, that's for sure... So u think that'd be ok?I figured no essay should be over 4000characters and the why TUSOM should be that length, imho obvs
Personally, I think so. Any longer and people will most likely lose interest.

So will your campus choice actually effect your admission? I guess so since they even have an essay question about it.. What if I would be happy to do clinical in any one of those places? Just accept me! Put me wherever you want! Please!
