2016-2017 APPIC Internship Interview Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They may want to know who can absolutely not be moved onto certain dates and may schedule the most restrictive folks first. I would mention it in you response when you're ranking the dates. I've written something like this for previous emails:

I appreciate your flexibility in including many interview date options. I am unable to meet on _ and _. My available dates in preferential order are: _, _, _, _, and _.
Thank you! I probably overdid it in my response - wish I'd seen this, but got nervous about responding quickly since I am (a little) limited. Basically said, "I could do these five, really hopeful that means I won't require alternative arrangements..." but better (I think).

Full of gratitude for scheduling issues at this point, since there was certainly a time when I thought I'd be able to rank all of these dates and more... and I know a lot of incredible colleagues are still in that space!

I am having the exact same experience! So grateful for the interview opportunities, crunched with scheduling, and hoping my colleagues successfully match to sites that they're excited about. Not too long ago I was worried about NOT having enough interviews!

Anyone have an interview at AHRC- NYC on 1/17 and would like to switch to 1/10 ? It would be greatly appreciated !

Something I've learned in this process: I do the best "editing" and "proofreading" of my application the night BEFORE an interview. So many mistakes in reports, conceptualizations, and cover letters! Yet, here I am going to the interview. Yeesh! My biggest nightmare is a site pulling out my appi and pointing to a mistake! Haha

I am waiting on that is as well! I am prepared for rejection as that is crazy late notice

I had my first interview yesterday(!!!) and met someone who was invited a few weeks ago for an interview at Mt. Washington (Neuropsych track) and will be interviewing there on 12/22. Oh well, time to keep waiting for my rejection...

I thought I was the only one! I still have 7 sites to hear from.

I just checked the APPIC website, and while it says that all sites are required to notify applicants of their status by the notification date listed on their APPIC site, December 15th is only a recommended notification date. So sites can choose to notify us after December 15th, so long as they made their notification date public.

I still have 11 sites to hear from. Remember there is an interview notification date listed for every site on their APPIC page. Some of my sites have notification dates as late as December 22.

And my worry is that rejections come on the last day. Why would sites wait until the last day to send invites to interview? Idk if I am correct. Can anyone weigh in?

Last year, a bunch of sites sent out invites on and around the 15th, so you never know.

I know it's not on the list here, but I wonder if anybody has any info on Denver Health? Last year they sent invites mid-November, but I haven't heard one way or another.

Has anyone heard from the VA Hudson Valley healthcare system?

I'm expecting to hear from them tomorrow, at the earliest. The changes to this year's available tracks likely shifted more people to the general track; more applicants=more time to review applications? Just a guess, though. Good luck!

Is it just me or is it a entirely different kind of suffering when you are preparing for interviews, waiting to hear on other interviews, while continuing to be a full time student with clinical practica and trying to get work done on your dissertation and other projects

It's not just you.

Anyone interested in switching dates for Western Kentucky Psychology Internship? I am supposed to be interviewing the 20th but I need to interview the 13th and unfortunately that day is full.

You forgot to mention questioning your life choices. I've thought, on more than one occasion, maybe I should have been a realtor.
