THANK YOU! Same. I am getting really anxious and just losing hope.

I haven't heard back yet either. But Oshione and the others received interview invites last Tuesday [correct me if I'm wrong] so maybe we have to wait until tomorrow to hear back? :depressed:
That sounds right! I hope so! It is my last hope and I am so scared! Did you guys hear from Baylor anyways or not? I got rejected and don't know if that would make a difference in the decision.

Apparently only 30 interviews are sent out in total which makes me even MORE scared. i wonder how many have been sent out...

Good luck to all those waiting to hear back! For those that received interviews, Ms. Sneed mentioned she would send an email with specific details regarding the interview. Has anyone received that yet?

She said she'll send the email confirmation some time this week.

Ms. Sneed emailed back with:

"The selection committee is still in the process of reviewing files and some applicants have been invited for interviews. At this point, we do not know if more interviews will be given, and we’re not at liberty to provide interview invite numbers."
Yikes that's not a very good sign. I just joined and I am still waiting to hear back as well.

has anyone looked into other masters/post-bac programs if this doesn't work out???
I have found 5 post Bacc programs. Only 2 guarantee a spot in the next dental class and those schools are Baylor and Creighton. I have an interview at Creighton thankfully so I'm hoping all that goes well. Both Baylor and Creighton are competitive and tough to get into with small classes and really small interview pools. The cost for each is roughly $30k for tuition only but I know that Creighton will give you a scholarship in dental school that pays more than that so it ends up being free.

The other post baccs are in California: UCLA, USFC, and UCSF. All these programs are good to improve stats for dental school but they don't guarantee a seat in dental school.
I've heard the there is a post Bacc at Boston but haven't found it.

I think from this point, maybe retaking the DAT to counterbalance the GPA is the way to go. I've heard a bunch of people get in with 3.1 and 3.2 GPAs that scored like a 23 on the DAT

I agree with you, I spoke to someone in admissions last year for UTHSCSA on how to strengthen my application and she suggested I started a masters or post bacc and retook DAT, scoring at least 21 in each section!

So frustrating....feels like we're taking the long way around the short side

Even though it may be taking longer than we want I think it's important that we gain as much "life" experience as possible.
I have talked to admissions people for both medical and dental schools and they are very hesitant to give spots to students that are young (less than 22) mostly because they want to produce practitioners that have experience outside of school and can relate to patients.
From what I have seen though we need to prove to admissions that we can handle a heavy load of graduate level courses and also have a high DAT (20+).

There are a lot of masters programs but the ones we should be looking at are those that have a focus on the human body or those that the knowledge we gain is of value to the dental field. I've been suggested to look into MS in oral biology, head and neck physiology, anything to do with materials like polymer synthesis, anything that will increase our impact on our patients.

This is very true! I applied to this program last year and didn't get an interview, but this time around I did. In my time off I've gotten a job at a dental office and have taken a full load of upper level science courses at my local university. I also retook my DAT. They want to see you improve your stats from your first application. Don't give up. It's a long process, but it pays off!

I agree with you! However, I took my DAT twice already and the second time I improved. I can't take it for a third time because the program says maximum of 2 times. I also took so many courses to improve my GPA and I got better LORs. At this point, I don't know what to do more. I am very limited with 3.2 GPA and 19 AA. I am so sad!

Those are my stats exactly as well...makes it a little hard to stand out. I feel your pain

Is your GPA undergrad or graduate?

They only accept like 5 students I heard this year, so that is a little bit of a long shot. So what's the game plan for you guys if this post bacc doesn't work out? I'm still trying to figure something out.

That's what I am thinking about. I think If I don't get accepted to this program, I will not apply again next year and will take the DAT again. Also, I will be looking for a master's program that is online since I have to work full time to support my family. Do you guys know about any program that is online and is accepted by most dental schools?
