^ for UTSW (my home school) I have 12/15 and not 12/16 (a minor precision)

Now, if you will quick tally so that we know where we are in the process? How many invites do you have so far? Rads:6 (including home school) , prelim-IM: 2 (home school + 1 de facto with radiology program, so no real invite). Please do share.

One advanced(UI-peoria), one prelim. Wonder how much not getting app in on 15th for some extra programs will hurt me at those

I guess it would be more useful to say how many invites you have out of the programs you applied to that has offered invites. Or even out the total number applied to. I think that would help form a frame of reference. Also, specifying USMD, USDO, or IMG would be helpful to people as well.

0 invites so far out of 15 rads programs, 7 prelim med programs, and 6 TY programs. And I submitted on the 15th.

If you look at last year's thread, tons of programs waited until Oct 1st to send out invites. So I'm not freaking out, and I will think asking programs about a second wave of invites would be premature at this point. Why would a program send out all of their invites before they even saw Dean's letters?

Man, UTSW was one of the schools I was really interested in, so far it has been radio silence from them. That is incredibly disappointing

Perhaps an excel spreadsheet? This way it is there to modify and improve...
For now US MD - I applied on 9/14 to 47 Rads programs, 10 TYs and 42 IM prelims
Received 6 DR invites out of 14 schools sending invites (Texas A&M and UT Houston didn't invite me, so big bummer). 2 IM-prelims interviews schedule but no real invites.

0 invites so far out of 15 rads programs, 7 prelim med programs, and 6 TY programs.
Dude really? like 15 rad programs? I wish I was in a position to do that.

I know from the program's director that the Dean's letter is very important at UTSW, and while scores get in you the door, the clinical performance (no necessarily grades, but more comments etc...) are look at closely. I know I have an invite because it is my home school (it would have been unlikely otherwise). So all is not lost.

6 invites of 28 rads programs (1 is home), 4 prelim med invites of 30 programs (2 are coupled with rads and 1 is home), and 1 TY invite of 19 programs.

Hey clut
6 invites of 28 rads programs (1 is home), 4 prelim med invites of 30 programs (2 are coupled with rads and 1 is home), and 1 TY invite of 19 programs.

Hey clutch who is the TY program?

Thanks, that's good information to know. I'm only sitting on one interview from my home institution so I'm a little bit more on edge than I would be otherwise.

USMD, applied 9/15

Rads: 3/30 (so far none of the others have sent out invites per this forum)
IM: 4/25 (one was home institution)
TY: 1/29

And yeah, I wouldn't start freaking out until mid October. Many top tier/north east/west coast programs send out their first round of invites pretty late in the game. 🙂

Right now I have 5 DR invites, 2 Prelim-IM invites, and 0 TY invites. I applied to 41, 10, and 32 respectively. DR invites are scattered all over, prelims are both 1 state away.

Man that is frustrating; I totally get it from their perspective (why wouldn't you wait until you had all information available), but I'm reconsidering my decision to only send out 27~ apps.

I don't think it will be an issue. If you look at the program director's survey on page 141, it shows only 11% of radiology program invites are sent out before 10/1. I think as long as the 27 were reasonably selected, you should be fine.

As I said before, it would be foolish no to apply for the sake of saving a few bucks. Yes it may cost a few hundred bucks more. But at this point, is it really worth counting? Just add a few more. You have plenty of time. Even if you don't need that, it is one of these losses that you will be able to live with. At UTSW for a competitive applicant, they still would say 30 to 35 programs just to be safe.

I completely understand and yeah it is nerve-wracking (I check this forum so many times a day I'm pretty sure it's pathologic). The downfall of the medical student is comparing ourselves to each other. All we have to go off of is some (self reported) stats and a list of interviews at places maybe we didn't even apply for. If you were advised to apply to 27 programs and people from your home institution have done well with that, then you do you!! I know this probably won't stop you from freaking out but just know I (and probably others) are in the same freak out boat. 🙂

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone! I did take a gander at the director's survey (which for some reason I hadn't seen until now) and it's interesting to see that so few programs send out invites before October. It's only been a week though, so I'm not really too worried; it's going to be a long grind for a few months that's for sure. Really I won't start getting too antsy until mid-october haha

Also as a note of encouragement, I have just received an invite to Mayo Clinic Arizona. The first wave was on 9/21 as per this forum. So indeed, not receiving during the first wave doesn't preclude receiving later. So good luck every one.

Not encouraging, now I know I didn't catch 2 waves haha jk but that is helpful for future reference

Just wondering if any IMG got an interview so far ?! Or is it still too early.

Still waiting on my first one. From the latest list, 0/7 right now, which is very depressing. Unsure how much regional stuff plays into this but definitely on edge waiting for the first one to come in.

I am Couples Matching and we applied all over the country

Invites so far:
2/43 Radiology (6 programs that I applied to have sent out offers so far)
1/23 Prelim Surgery
1/15 Prelim Medicine
0/20 Transitional Years

I received a strange invitation to interview for a research track / Diagnostic Rad program at UT San Antonio to which I didn't apply. It says that after 6 years you basically get a PhD in radiological science and are board eligible in Diagnostic Rad. It also mentions that the position is funded via the Hofman pathway. Anyone knows anything about that????

Yes. In fact I doubled check and this program is not available in ERAS. So I definitely didn't apply. Not sure how it happened but it did. I did apply to the regular program at San Antonio, but not that one.

I guess it would be more useful to say how many invites you have out of the programs you applied to that has offered invites. Or even out the total number applied to. I think that would help form a frame of reference. Also, specifying USMD, USDO, or IMG would be helpful to people as well.

I think this is the right idea. I would say mine is .08 right now, invites/total applied. Also, I applied the whole spectrum, so that needs to be factored in if one is heavy in the programs that haven't started sending out invites. I am a USMD. I hope this helps ease some anxiety on the SDN interwebz, a tall order. DrMeows can we be friends? My vote for best avatar of SDN.

Haha of course we can be friends thank you. I haven't posted on SDN since looking into medical schools so I chose that baby over 5 years ago I'm currently a 4th year DO student with 2 radiology interviews. Applied to over 70 though all across the board, 13 of which are on this list of already sending out invites. Trying to stay patient and positive like everybody else!!

Shoot another big bummer for me !
So you guys are getting invites on the WE as well? I didn't think this would happen.

I was pretty surprised by it, didn't know that was a thing. Guess that means I need to guard my phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week now

Yes I was hoping for the WE to be less nerve wracking...

WE = weekend?

Yes WE = week-end.
Inthepocket, my comment really was directed to DrMeows. I am assuming (s)he is not the only one who got an invite today.

Never mind, the day is almost over. Time to go study for step 2.

Just fyi, I am hearing that applications are marginally up in number this year over last but quality is definitely up. Could be a harder year for DO/IMG applicants than the past few. Could be just my program. Maybe others can weigh in.

Also, those of you who don't get interviews at places you wanted, you might have been screened out due to geography or medical school. Don't be afraid to email a program and ask for an interview while giving a good reason you want to go there. People do get interviews that way every year.

Inthepocket, my comment really was directed to DrMeows. I am assuming (s)he is not the only one who got an invite today.

Never mind, the day is almost over. Time to go study for step 2.
My apologies, I didn't catch the date on DrMeows offer, I was the one who should have read more closely!
