This program participates in ERAS but doesn't participate in the match. All offers are made outside of the NRMP.

Oh I see. Never paid any attention to that in ERAS. There must be a mention in ERAS somewhere for these programs. So you have to interview very early I suppose or do you even pre-match without an interview? That's something...

This is an option that is typically granted to IMGs. This is the only program that I know of that offers radiology spots outside of the match. A few IM programs in NY do this as well.

Did a rotation there 2 weeks ago and at its completion they interviewed and offered me a pre-match Diagnostic/Radiology. There Radiology Dept had 3 positions and decided not to enter the match this year

That's awesome. Congrats. This is very interesting. Did you know about this possibility prior to rotating there? Or did you just discover this as you were rotating. Man, that's cool.

IMO more programs should do this. It's like a job offer in any other field, instead of being victim to the match algorithm. I believe most/many radiology fellowships offer spots outside the match.

Didn't know until I got there. It was a great environment and loved going there everyday, First time I felt that way....

Just fyi, I am hearing that applications are marginally up in number this year over last but quality is definitely up. Could be a harder year for DO/IMG applicants than the past few. Could be just my program. Maybe others can weigh in.

Also, those of you who don't get interviews at places you wanted, you might have been screened out due to geography or medical school. Don't be afraid to email a program and ask for an interview while giving a good reason you want to go there. People do get interviews that way every year.

Thanks for the info. When do you recommend we contact programs that may have screened us out due to geography? I was thinking of either after mid-October or if you have an interview in the state from another institution. Any thoughts on this approach?

I was going to do the same thing. I'll probably wait until at least Oct 15th until I start e-mailing programs as well.

If you know they've already sent out invites and you didn't get one then you can contact them. Or even if you really want to go to a place you can send them a "love letter" even before they give out interviews (though that probably doesn't do any good, haha).

What's the consensus on e-mailing a program listed above that we'd love to get an interview at? Looks like some people say it's okay/might work, but part of me thinks it just looks bad.

I had the same problem too! I ended up googling her name along with the program and came up with this email: [email protected]
She responded back to me quickly so I guess she just forgot to include it!

If you look on the message, particularly the "From: XyZ" row, there is a green box with a down arrow all the way too the right. If you right click it, a drop-down menu will appear with an option to reply. If they didn't include an email, has happened to me, I believe it's pretty safe to assume they mean reply to their ERAS message. Admittedly it took me awhile to figure out how to reply on the ERAS system.

Has anyone had issues with programs confirming interview dates? The programs I've received interview invitations from gave me date options, and I gave them responses back, but they have yet to be confirmed by the program. Granted I made the interviews for early November, so should I assume I have those dates and they're messaging back closer to interview time? Or....should I assume I'm forgotten about and should follow up? I try to not be annoying in situations like this [emoji15]

I called a couple of programs just to be safe so that I could get my flight and hotel accommodations sorted out. Some of them forget to send out confirmation emails along with the itinerary details and such. It wouldn't hurt.

With scores like that, I'm sure you will. But as an IMG, you will still have to apply broadly. How many programs did you apply to? And did you apply to a healthy mix of upper-tier, middle-tier, and lower-tier programs?

Well then, if you take a look at charting outcomes for 2016, your chances of matching are pretty solid. I'm sure after the 1st, interviews will start pouring in for everyone. We've done all we can at this point --- now we just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Feeling the same way as you. im also an carib-IMG with 260+ and 270+ on step 1 and CK and things have been super quiet on my end as well 🙁. Guess we just gotta wait until MSPEs are released like laricb said.
 
Fellow IMG here, with slightly lower scores. It's been radio silence, besides two rejections.
