All I know is that it's time to work on my app and school list for next year. Best bElieve there's gon be some DO's and bottom 10 MD's in this list. I am now more than willing to spend four years of my life in places like Georgia or Alabama.
But I realized that this whole experience really is what you make it out to be. I really enjoyed my year off just working and having fun. and I will probably enjoy another one. Happiness is a state of mind. That's why there are happy homeless people and suicidal millionaires. It's all in your head.
Anyway, I only see like maybe 10% of us getting off this alternate list. Is what it is. To my fellow applicants without an acceptance, let's just enjoy another year off. Cheers

Requested to be taken off the Alternate list today, got into my state school! Hope it benefits one of you. I really appreciate fellow applicants who have posted and spread helpful information. To the person above who made up the 10% number lol, I admire the positive outlook. Those are the kind of people I want as my doctor! Good luck everyone!
Please forgive me if I misunderstood this, you dropped your acceptance from a Top 30 school because you were put on the alternative list at SUNY Downstate? Why?
No they withdrew the alternate list spot since they were already accepted in a top 30

Nope just their acceptance reply form acknowledgment email (aka their "acceptance acceptance acceptance" email)
So they already got our "acceptance acceptance ", but their actual "acceptance " haven't been sent out yet. lol

Have people who got the "your deposit is due soon" email also received their usernames and passwords for the link they sent? Or is that being sent later on?

I believe it will be sent later on
I haven't gotten my username/pass yet either so I think its coming soon
They usually process and add them to your file. Whether they make a difference I'm not sure.

I sent an update 2 months after being placed on hold and was accepted a month later FYI!
What sort of thing do you include in an update?
New job, new (substantial) activities or awards, new grades, accepted publication...

Since I had a substantial update I included it, but in the context of how it fit into Downstate's mission if that makes sense. I knew I would go here if accepted, so I said that and mentioned another acceptance, then listed some specifics I had learned about the through my interview and such that affirmed my commitment to go there. I didn't reiterate anything from my app, but I was sincere and specific in the letter
