Per the Wayne Medicine Twitter chat, sounds as though the early December date will be the next release of acceptances...sigh

I think the opposite may be true. Adcoms can see that you have no acceptances, therefore likely to attend if offered acceptance. My n=1; Interview Nov. WL in Dec. Pulled off WL on Traffic Day (May 2nd last year). Only II and Acceptance.
That's what I'm saying!

Thank you. Praying to every god that will listen haha. Really really want this to go well.
No worries, you got this! You're invited so they already saw something in your application that they really liked. I know it's cliché, but the best thing to do now is get a good night's sleep, relax*, have fun, and be yourself 🙂

*Granted, as much as one can for an interview...

I got an email today from an admissions recruiter that stated that they are offering "just over 1000" interviews. I really wish we could get a clear answer on this.
lmao all these interviews and they still wanna give me radio silence. so much for hometown love, right?

So question, does Wayne wait list everyone who interviews but doesn't get accepted right away? Or can you receive a rejection say a month after your interview? Say your interview is in November for example.

Just got an II! OOS, complete late September.
II this morning! Complete end of August.
All sorted. Interviewing Jan 13! Any idea if this date means interviewing for the waitlist? Very excited about this opportunity!

For those who just got II's recently within the past week, would you mind sharing your LizzyM's and if you're IS/OOS or URM?

Also over 1000 interviews will be sent out? I thought the previous quoted was 700 😳

Hi all,
I'm a Canadian Applicant looking to apply to Wayne State. I haven't filled out the secondary application yet, I understand the deadline has still not passed yet. However, do you think I could still stand a chance at this point? I was looking for some feedback prior to completing the application. I would love to attend, I live two hours from the University. 🙂

It's really late to apply to any school at this point. I'd save the money if I were you

I just wanted to clarify the format of the MMI from someone who has already interviewed - do we get 2 minutes to read a prompt outside the door and then 8 minutes to explain our position/rationale?

Thanks in advance!! 🙂

okay, thank you! Also, just generally - were the scenarios healthcare specific or just everyday situations? thanks again!

Not sure if this is a dumb question but is it possible to establish residency after the first year?

Just finished with the interview. We were told Dec 9th as well and they confirmed that this year 900-1000 students will be interviewing for 500-600 admission offers.
are they extending interview season? they're pretty deep in with only around half that number of II's sent out

Hold up. If this is true I'm a little salty that some of us had to wait a month more than others to hear back from admissions. This wait has been agonizing.

If they do 1000 interviews, you still have plenty of time.

There is never a date where you're just "interviewing for the waitlist"; one of the reasons the waitlist exists is so schools can have admissions spots available for every interview date. If not, imagine what would happen when "Billy House-Cox" shows up for an interview day in March but you've filled all your spots. You're forced to expand your class, rescind a current offer, or turn down a future Vicodin addicted name calling genius.

Waitlisting is typically "we believe you're qualified and would like to admit you, but there are others <within some review period> that we would like to admit some degree more". The waitlist means they can hold those people to the next interview/admissions review, when they have a new batch of spots under consideration. There are admissions spots available for individuals following every single interview day, I assure you 🙂 .

Congratulations on your interview!
This explanation really helped me nerves .

It's late in the cycle, but I would go for it if finances are not a big issue. The worst that will happen is a rejection letter. If it's a school you want to go to then it's worth a shot.

Just submitted my secondary.
Not holding my breath, but the recruiter reached out to me and I figured "sure, why not?"

Either they really want me to go here or I just got scammed out of $100. [emoji23]

Well dang...
I was already iffy about applying to a school in Detroit, but I'm not trying to put myself at risk for the next four years of medical school.

Dont read too much into it. This could have happened anywhere. There's always disturbed individuals out there. WSU is still one of the safer campuses in the country. They have their own police department who patrol the campuses constantly.

don't worry. Be confident in your performance. I heard back two weeks later but that may have just been because the month rolled over at that time.
