1/15, second date available to me. Have you already been? details!

Dang! @timsk and I are both 11/16. May or may not go depending how October rolls, honestly. Travel funds are getting stretched, yow.

I know nothing about it except it's MMI. If I do go to this one I'll give the deetz after.

I feel you on October. But I've never been to Chicago! Then again, January doesn't seem like the ideal introduction.

Mine is on 1/8. I just came back from Chicago after CCOM! Haha. At least it's a few months after so I don't feel completely like I wasted money...

Hmmm. Question for everyone: would moving my interview date at RFUMS from 1/8 to 1/27 drastically reduce my chances there? Most in-state applicants at my state school (UNSOM) hear back around 1/15. I could save myself some dough by waiting until at least then to find out.

I think by that point it won't make much of a difference.

If I was in your shoes, I would wait for Nevada to save some money.

About to drive a couple hours to the airport to fly out for my first interview tomorrow morning! The odyssey of the journey is keeping my mind off of my interview jitters, but I'm sure once I'm safely aboard the plane things are gonna go to hell in a handbasket in terms of butterflies in my stomach. Oof. Hope everyone's cycles are continuing with positive results!

GO DO THE THING!

Good luck!

Did anyone notice that I posted this like 9 days ago? Glad I have a fan!

In other news, had a dream that I'd slept clear through to October 23rd (what a random post-10/15 date), and in my dream I woke up and frantically refreshed my email. Seeing nothing there, I then actually woke up and...frantically refreshed my email. Nothing there, natch.

My mind has reached Inception-level trolling.

Oh well, off to class.

Congrats to everyone with interviews! It's really great to see so many non-traditional invitations.

I figure there are a lot of people following this thread who, like me, are still anxiously waiting for their first interview invitation. Just wanted to say you're not alone! Sometimes as awesome as it is to read about everyone's successes so far, it's a touch discouraging to feel left out with no interviews yet. The season is young - hang in there! There is still plenty of time for us all to have a chance at our dream.

We support everyone! Fingers crossed for everybody, I know we're all in different stages of FUD right now!

Definitely not me, haha

After a lull in motivation for a few weeks (darn it, life!), I completed my final DO secondaries this week. All done! (Well, hopefully not ALL done... need those interviews and acceptances first.)

In review:
23 schools (19 MD, 4 DO)
1 hold/1 rejection (GW / GT)
21 silence (ranging from 0 to 6 weeks since complete)

At this point, I wonder what I can do to be like the History channel guy. I've seen him for years! I think once you have a meme, you've made it, right? History should do a "Where are they now?"...

Hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer!

Thirty-five secondaries, six states, four interviews, and three countries later, and I finally said eff it and moved my DO interview that was supposed to be next week to November. I'm so freaking tired.

But, I kinda regret it... Because now all I have to do for the next month is like, real life stuff. And waiting. Whoops.

Holy Moly -- good luck. I hope you hear something soon 🙂

Do you recommend interviewing early in the interview process or later towards the end?

Thank you. You are correct. I mean in terms of the rolling admission time frame -- earlier in December versus Late January.

Earlier is better due to rolling admissions - go with December.

Both of those dates are considered later in the admissions cycle though.

I had a successful journey across the country earlier this week, and I felt like my interview went as well as it could have given my particular application and the school's particular emphases. Yesterday morning my faculty interviewer emailed me and said that she hopes to see me at School X in the fall! I don't want to read too much into that, but I am hoping it's a good sign. 🙂

That sounds very positive 🙂 Good luck.

Update: 4IIs 3Rs 1 Hold. Currently delayed en-route out East; I blame the Pope @ MSG 😉

About 2 and a half weeks until I hear back from one school; over two months for another. Rough wait period!

How is everyone else faring?

Heard back from three more schools this week. 2 rejections and one II from my state school and alma matter. I'm at 3 II and 4 rejections. I know i applied to a lot of reaches, so i'm really hoping that i get a break with at least one of them. This experience is incredibly humbling. I don't have the best gpa but i'm still above average on all of my stats and i'd like to think my ECs and research (7 years full time clinical research) gave me an advantage...and yet not much success. I do have one blemish on my application in the form of an arrest (charge, no conviction) from when i was 17 (am 28 now). Would love to know if that's what is behind the silence i'm getting from a lot of schools. As i was complete around end of july I am thinking i'm on hold at most of the schools that i applied to and have yet to hear from. At least i feel pretty confident about the one interview i've had thus far. Is good to hear about others' successes throughout this process, even if some of you are kicking so much ass that i wish you shared your successes 🙂 Keep it up everyone!
