Found out I don't qualify for private loans...Northstate does not yet have federal loan standing (needs to graduate a first class.) I guess I declare myself "un-accepted".

Yeah even with. I committed the original sin before I knew it. Had I made it clear I consolidated...it wouldn't have gone to default.

Accepted to Case Western Reserve 😀 Which was one of my stranger interviews so frankly a little bit surprised, but woo!

First acceptance!!! After such a long journey, so much effort and so much work, I am one step closer to being a physician. I don't think it's hit me quite yet.

How strange would an interview have to be to count as strange?
Case in point: I interviewed at GU and GWU on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. At GU they ask all the applicants the same questions - you're even told what the questions are in the morning before you interview. Well, my interviewer only asked me 2/7, said he already knew my answers from my statement/essays, and proceeded to give me the skinny on the last few curriculum committee meetings, haha. He did ask a few other things, though, and I think it went well overall.
GWU, on the other hand... the first interviewer interrupted me about 5 times. It was difficult to determine if he was just pressed for time or was uninterested in my answers - yet he ended the interview saying I was great and the interview went really well??? After that I had a student interview. Very excited about speaking with a student - we were told it would likely be with an MS4, great opportunity to ask about rotations... Cut to my interviewer going "Hi! Im X,I'm an MS2" and stressing out about the exam they have the next day 🙁 It was really hard to keep a straight face when that happened.

UVM was wonderful! I think it would be a wonderful place to be a non-trad student!

Why do you think you bombed it? Also, what did you think of Downstate? I felt I didn't get enough time to ask questions and learn about the program as much as I wanted. I was there for only 3 hours (interview included).
Yes! I came up with it during a really stress-inducing, I'm becoming a huge cynic day (Spanish is my first language).
I had a psychiatrist interviewer who asked me alllllllll the tough questions about my app, explanations for evvvvvverything, which was interesting and normally I think I could have handled it. Buuut I walked in fresh from a terrible argument and was exhausted and defensive and way off balance. I also think, post-acceptances, and given all of the above, I fell into a real dump truck of the f^kits. I dunno. Maybe I was also thoughtful and self-aware and engaging? WHO KNOWS (she said, awake at 4:45am)...
But it's unfortunate because I liked Downstate. The students seemed happy, the facility smelled nice, lots of light, more amenities than I would have thought, and the curriculum seems to make a lot of room for having a life.
Also I'm really gonna miss my New York community, and I don't want to leave. 🙁
I'm sorry to hear that you weren't at your best during the interview. But like you said, your f*ck it attitude may have translated much better than you think it did!
If its any consolation your interview sounds EXACTLY like mine. My interviewer was involved in academic development and is a psychologist there. They asked me about my withdrawls (for one I said I just didnt like the class and it wasnt worth my time - serious face at that, ugh), how I studied, why I did one thing and not another, my MCAT prep (?), etc. Part of it was also conversational, though - we even talked about Back to the Future (I interviewed on 10/21 and they said they were raised in Chicago and were a Cubs fan).
The f*ck it attitude seemed to get to me too at my GWU interview. Its especially hard when schools start blending in together ("scholarly project! we get you in the clinic earlier than any other school! great clinical rotations!") and you don't have enough time to delve into the gritty details that ease the decision-making process. Second-look days are nice but its an added expense... not so nice for us RAs with crappy salaries.
That actually does make me feel a bit better @entresuspiros, thanks. I've heard a fair bit from various people about unusually stressful interviews at Downstate. Maybe it's just part of their plan. IF YOU CAN MAKE IT HERE...

ETA: omg, I just remembered the parts where she asked me to describe my meditation style to her and explain how it's done and then describe how it feels and so I RAISED MY HAND and explained the illusion of separation and our capacity to release our mind's adherence to the binary of I/other via anapanasati and shikantaza and then *went into a mild trance state*--with commentary.
So basically I just dissociated like a total schizoid and described the fundamentals of my future cult.
