Anyone hear or know of someone who has heard about an interview invitation this year to 1. Rush 2. Wright State 3. UPMC ?

University of Louisville vs Roger williams medical centre for interview. Which one would you guys pick since none can adjust their dates?
Also after how many interviews are people looking at cancelling interviews?

Choose based on location. Neither are stellar, both are fine.

Cant say about Louisville but interviewed at Roger Williams in the past, nice program, very clinical with some opportunity for research if thats ur thing. Fellows get good jobs specially in MA. Close proximity to Boston, they allow outside BMT rotations as well. Overall i thought was a good program. Academically overshadowed by Browns University but u get to see cool cases.

Hello all!
I am on the waiting list for U of Buffalo/Roswell Park anyone canceling their interview? Thanks!

Sorry, just on my phone so unsure how to add this program to the list:
Invite at Levine Cancer Institute Carolinas Health System: 9/11 ***

Anyone familiar with the program? I'm thinking about going into academics and solids possibly lung. Wasn't sure how strong the program was clinically and in terms of research. Thanks for the help!

What is the chance of matching with seven interviews? IMG on visa, particularly if people with experience can highlight? Is there a hope for more interviews?

Hi! Would anyone be interested in switching the date of interview for Allegheny from 9/29 to something else? Would really appreciate it - have another interview for the same day which I am trying to schedule. Please PM me.

How do you guys think about thank you note reply from program directors? What does it mean phrases like " best of luck for the match" ? Does it mean the program director want me to match at another program? How about u guys? When you send thank you letter, how did they reply to you?

It means they don't want you and are telling the other PDs not to match you. If you really want to know, why don't you e-mail the PD back asking what they meant specifically and what spot they are going to rank you?

Another interview switch request - Would anyone be interested in switching the interview days for University of Cincinnati. I am scheduled for October 6th and would rather interview on October 20th. Thanks.
just to let you know I went there and had a horrible experience. They won't let you talk to any interviewer for more than 5-10 minutes and after that somebody will knock the door telling you to go out even if you are still talking. Feel like disrespected and I think they know who is coming and interviewing for fun only. Best of luck

Would it be better for us to say J1 or H1 or no visa as IMG status so we have a better idea for number of invites based on visa status of IMGs.

Exactly! Whoever is planning to cancel or not show up for their interviews pls cancel them now so others have still opportunity to get some more invites! Thank you all!

Soon people are going to start posting and asking for help with their rank list. Just a little piece of advice if you don't want your post to be ignored by most of us:

1- list the programs in the order you're planning to rank them. Don't post a random list of programs and expect people to rank them for you. This's the easiest way to get your post ignored.
2- Mention your priorities/goals so the list makes sense to strangers looking at it. that can be a geographic location or a specific tumor or lab research or BMT or private practice or undecided...etc
3- It's wise to wait until after you interview to make up your list and not use reputation alone or, even worse, use US news rankings or NCI designation.

Good luck and enjoy your interviews. Just show up on time, smile and don't be a jerk. It's that easy.

Cosigned.

Guys make sure you make it to pre-interview dinners. I know these can be tiring after a long flight/drive but they're an amazing opportunity to meet people outside work and to possibly ask a few questions that you won't feel comfortable asking during the interview.

If you're in an extremely bad mood however, it might be best to skip those. Over the years I was surprised how many candidates can be awkward/jerks during those dinners. While most fellows don't sit on selection committees, it has been my experience that it doesn't usually take more than a couple of senior fellows telling the PD/APD that an applicant was inappropriate/doesn't fit well in the program to have them completely taken off the rank list.

American grad.
Academic top 30 program.
Meh research resume, but there.

...Not a single interview outside home program and med school program.

At what point do I need to freak out about a bad letter, or other red flag? How does one go about figuring out why they're untouchable?

is your scores bad or any major issues during residency that might have resulted in poor PD LOR

Didn't apply to enough programs?

At least MDACC rejected you...I'm still awaiting a response from the 2014 application cycle
