Hey everyone,

I'm a dentist interested in post-matching to GPR/AEGD programs. As Match results come out tomorrow, I thought I would make this thread to see if anyone had any info about open positions. Hopefully if we hear anything from programs that haven't filled spots, we can post here and alert others like me who are interested in post-matching.

Good luck to everyone else tmrw! Everything will be fine.

Does anyone know when the unfilled list comes out?

thanks

NYU/LMC - Family HealthCare Network, Visalia, CA – AEGD Post Match Positions Available

Family HealthCare Network in Visalia, CA has Post Match AEGD positions available! The AEGD is facilitated through NYU/Lutheran Medical Center and is at one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Centers in California and the US.

The goal of our program is to further develop your clinical abilities, patient management skills, and confidence so that you can be fully prepared for working in either a Public Health or Private Practice Setting. By the end of the program, our residents are able to handle schedules of 10-15 patients a day, no problem.

Our program strengths are Endo (residents had at least 30-50 molar endo cases last year), Prostho (More Removable, but also a good amount of fixed, minimum 2 Bridges), and Oral Surgery (lots of routine and more complex extractions). You’ll do plenty of restorations, and learn how to triage and manage dental emergencies effectively. We also have many pediatric patients, if you want to focus there as well.

Residents have their own chairs, schedules and assistants. Once established, you will become a fully functioning part of the health center, with advice and guidance available whenever needed. Our clinics are less than 5 years old, and you will have modern equipment, materials, and instruments.

I completed this residency myself, and it was an amazing experience that helped me become the much more confident dentist I am today. The last 3 residents have enjoyed working at Family HealthCare Network so much, they have stayed on after their residency to start their careers with us as well.

As a resident, you will receive the NYU/Lutheran Medical Center benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, $40,000 Salary, and 4 Weeks of paid vacation time – go travel! Our AEGD Residents do NOT have weekend call. Two Tuesdays a month instead of clinic you will have a half day of Didactic Lectures online through NYU/LMC, and Regional group meetings to discuss case presentations.

Never heard of Visalia? Where the heck is that? Visalia is one of the largest cities in the California Central Valley, just south of Fresno, and about 2.5-3 hours from both LA and San Francisco areas, with a low cost of living, no traffic, and plenty to do, especially if you enjoy the outdoors – near Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. Visalia has nearly all the amenities of a larger city, while still having a friendly small town feel. Weekend drives to Disneyland, Las Vegas, Snowboarding, Yosemite, San Francisco, and Los Angeles – totally doable. I really didn’t know anything about Visalia before I moved here, but I've really come to love it here.

Would someone be kind enough to post the unmatched list for AEGD/GPR?

Thank you.

Question: During post-match interviews, if we are offered a position, how long do we have to decide whether we will sign the contract or not? I have several post-match interviews scheduled this week and am wondering if I should be prepared to accept the first offer I get and not go to the other interviews. How does this work?

From my previous experience, usually they'll give you a few days at least, but most residencies try to fill their openings in the first two weeks.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely be ready to make a decision as soon as I have interviewed everywhere and know which places are willing to take me. Of the ones I have interviews set up in, I have them ranked in my head already on which I would prefer most. Just happens that my most preferred is actually scheduled right in the middle of the few interviews I secured.

Here you go! Good luck! I just post-matched at NYU Lutheran Maui; I didn't do PASS or anything, totally decided to do AEGD/GPR only after New Year's =D

Do you accept international Dentists?

Hello,

I graduated last year and am 6 months through my GPR in Maine. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience so far, and when my GPR director asked me to reach out to find some prospective residents, I jumped at the chance.

There are still open positions available.

In my honest opinion, this GPR is a hidden gem in Maine. You will learn more more than you would at a typical GPR, you will get paid more than at a typical GPR, and you won't be on call.

Please see attached file for more information about the GPR positions available at Penobscot Community Health Center (PCHC) in Bangor, ME

Respectfully,
Michael Cabral DMD
