2018-2019 University of South Dakota (Sanford)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That’s what it looked like to me too, I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard otherwise. Do you happen to know when we’re notified of any aid?

Hey, I'm only waitlisted but have already filled out the scholarship stuff. I think Carol (this is the lady who runs scholarship stuff for the school) had told me some scholarships are handed out as early as next week. Otherwise, I think people have to accept them by early May. Hope this helps! Carol is very nice, feel free to email her with more questions. She is quick to respond, too!

Currently on the waitlist. Have a single digit number but the waitlist is nooooot really moving, so that is scary! any other waitlist peeps on here?
I’m in the same boat, I was pretty confident when I first heard my number but I’m starting to get a little nervous, it sounds like most of the movement happens in the next 2 weeks. Do you know how many spots it’s moved so far?

The WL has moved 3 spots as of a couple days ago when my buddy called about his rank.

I emailed Nikki this past Monday and the waitlist has moved a total of 4 spots, which is scary this late in the game. These next two weeks are indeed crucial, as scholarship recipients are chosen and people with multiple acceptances have to make a decision by April 30th. However, it seems that most people are keeping USD as their number 1....because the waitlist usually moves more than 4 spots by now. I'm not losing hope just yet though, let's see what happens by the week of May!

withdrew my acceptance at Sanford last night guys 🙁 this was truly one of the hardest decisions of this cycle. will be very happy if that decision can result in someone getting a spot off the waitlist though - BEST OF LUCK to all of you and maybe one day see ya in residency <3

Hi -- can I just say, congrats on your 9 acceptances!! That is so incredibly impressive. I can't imagine how hard it would be to choose the right school, best of luck to you!

@SC_ wow thank you so much!! best of luck to you in this process as well, its been a long year!!

Questions for accepted students: is USD requiring you guys to "commit to enroll" by April 30th? I stumbled upon a waitlist thread and read about the "commit to enroll" and "plan to enroll" tools on AAMC's site, but people are saying that "plan to enroll" is more loose (like you have to choose one school but can keep your waitlists) vs "commit to enroll" is final. Someone said that some schools only give the option of "commit to enroll." Is that true for USD?

Plan to enroll = April 30th
Commit to enroll = June 24th IIRC

Thanks! Does USD require you guys to do this? I know that AAMC tool isn't required by all schools.

Yes it is required to follow the accepted student guidelines of the school. Failure to comply with the simple tasks they give you will definitely get a call from the school.

Cool, it is good to know that USD enforces students to make a decision by the 30th. Thank you! I think scholarships are handed out tomorrow, so maybe some waitlist movement will begin after then, too.

WL has moved 6 or 7 ranks as my buddy just got accepted before Easter.

As of today, it has moved 6 spots. I only need the waitlist to move a little bit more to get accepted, hoping that will be in the case in these upcoming weeks.

Hey everybody! Applying in the upcoming cycle, and just curious if anyone happens to know the secondary prompt since there isn't one on the initial post. TIA!
