any news from University of Mississippi? Received an email last week that they will send out invitation this week.

The email I received said that interview invites will be sent out by next Friday at the latest.

when did you received the email? I received the email on June 19 saying they are sending out invitation this week.

I received that email on June 26, and in the message they literally said the interview invites will be sent out "no later than Friday July 5th"

did you receive the email on June 19? If yes, i would assume they shortened their short list this week.

What do people know about the USC fellowship? I don't see much about it in the existing reviews.

They seem to not interview many people, and didn’t fill last year (not sure if it’s because they interview few people). Beyond that I know nothing about it. It’s even more enigmatic than UCLA, which by the way filled months ago.

Would also love to hear any thoughts on USC. I have not yet responded to the interview invitation, especially since the program sent me a letter informing that they are on probationary accreditation because of resident safety and wellness issues...Does anyone know what this is about?

A few other programs I haven't yet responded to, but would love to hear more about, are U of Michigan and JFK. Any thoughts on those? Thanks!

I am also wondering about UM. I did see on their website that Dr Amponsah is no longer listed at their PD?

No specific feedback and I dont think theyre supposed to do that.

Received one love letter, from the one program that doesn't sponsor the visa I'm on. I actually really liked them, but not enough to change status and get deported after 1 year.

I also haven't heard anything from the places I interviewed at. And even if I--or anybody--did, what difference would it make? Do you need another story of an applicant who was given false hope by a program?

Anyone have any updated info on columbia?

The reviews on sdn are old, hard to get a feel on how the program is today as a whole, especially just from the interview day. It seems to have improved over the years but wasn’t sure if anyone has good insight into the program

Good luck everybody! May you get your first choice and live your dreams!

And also, I myself matched to #2 choice. Extremely happy.
I was asked by a friend of mine from a diff program to see if there were spots that went unfilled? Any idea how to find those?

Matched my #2 very excited.

Seemed like easier match this year than previous yrs according to match data.

How did you get match data already? I don't think they have been released yet? I only see 2018 data on the NRMP website and last year was the easiest match in history, but I haven't heard about this year yet.

I did not get my top choice, but I'm super excited I matched!!! We're all going to be interventional pain docs!!!

It's under your 'options' tab in NRMP website.

options -->reports

Wew, matched at my #1. Super humbled, actually - as a foreign grad I punched way above my weight, especially since only 4% of those matched are IMGs like me.

I think these stats include all fellowship matching, so all the Peds matches are combined with pain.

Looks like it's separated out on page 2. 84.7% matched this year. Highest ever. 79% matched last year. Good thing the Anes job market has been very solid the past 2 years! When the match first started in the early 2010s, only 67% matched. I'm just glad I have a spot coming from non-anesthesia.

I wonder if it's because there are overall less applicants per spot applying this yr? Hence the higher matched percentage?

Did'nt match, devastated. MD US grad, anesthesia, 233 Step 1, board certified with pubs. Ranked 11. Have been out in practice for 2 years maybe theres a stigma. Let me know if anyone has a lead on unaccredited fellowships please.

What about the unfilled accredited spots? Is there not a way to contact those programs for a spot?

I mean, theres 65 unmatched people and 2 open spots now. I have contacted them though. Anyone have any thoughts on unaccredited programs? I have talked to people who have done them and seemed to do ok. I would reapply, but I dont know what would change, especially as this was a record high match rate. Im also thinking of doing a regional fellowship and reapplying but I dont know if this would help either. Thank you all for your replies.

US MD. got f****d. No match.

I didnt match either but I would imagine that doing a regional fellowship at a program with a chronic pain program would definitely help get your foot in the door by demonstrating interest and commitment!

The problem is, the majority of spots have filled for july 2020 for regional, also it’s a big opportunity cost
