I had a similar experience. I got grilled for 45 minutes straight and didn’t feel like the interview went well. Do you think it’s worth request another interview?

If your gut is telling you to do it then just go for it. No harm. Hear Einstein is really good about second interviews.
 
My interview was also a series of questions, closed file, and was one of the more challenging ones I've had. But I don't think that feeling the interview didn't go well would be enough to justify requesting a second interview. I feel like you'd have to make a pretty strong case for being granted another interview, like if your interviewer showed up extremely late or made inappropriate comments to you. That said, I really have no idea about this topic -- if you feel so strongly, perhaps you should ask. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

It was closed file for you? That's odd, I thought it had always been open-file in previous years. Can anyone else confirm?

Can I ask where you heard that? The only other reference to second interviews I've seen was earlier in this thread.
 
Can someone talk about their interview? Is it open or closed? Is it more of an open conversation or do they ask you ethical situations? I’ve had some that had to ask me like 3 specific question and others which felt like a normal conversation. This is my top choice so I would love any advice 🙂
 
I thought that it would’ve been conversational based on the feedback page but I felt like I got grilled.

Interview is Open-File. Started out just going over my activities and then the traditional "Why Medicine" and "Why Einstein" stuff. No ethical questions asked, just a normal conversation after we got the basic stuff out of the way. Mine went for an hour on the dot.

Just for reference, I had a very similar feeling. I definitely did not feel great about my interview because I didn't have the chance to talk about the aspects of my application that make me unique. I was considering taking a second interview, but I decided not to and I ended up getting accepted. I actually felt much better after my interviews at schools that ended up waitlisting me. So, at least in my experience, the feeling that you have after an interview may not accurately portray how well you did. I have heard though that Einstein is very good with second interviews and that they have a "no questions asked" policy. However, if I remember correctly, you need to put in the request for the second interview on the same day as your first interview.

For the accepted students, do they repeat the "Chats with the deans" series in the future?? I could not make it to today's one that covered the curriculum changes.

I mean, I would think they would have to, considering the class isn't full yet, but I thought I'd ask.

+1 I ruminated so much about how my interview went, especially since I had one with a psychiatrist. And he asked some very thought out questions, and I was afraid I didn't answer particularly well.
But I got in anyway. We can be the harshest critics of ourselves.

I wound up requesting a second interview, I just wasn't happy with my performance. Still haven't heard back, hopefully this all goes smoothly.

That's awesome, congrats btw!! To clarify, when you say 'directly to the office' do you mean via the admissions email or snail mail?? I do think I remember seeing someone a few pages back saying they successfully emailed an update too, but they had asked(?) if it was okay to do so beforehand. Hmm.... I'm considering now since I feel like I don't have much to lose at this point, but still anxious about it LOL.

May I also ask when you sent your LOI/LOR?
 
Would an accepted applicant that attended tonight's Zoom discussing curricular changes be willing to provide a quick synopsis of the main points? It would be much appreciated!😊

Hey! Is there any information about the new curriculum online? I haven't found anything on the Einstein website, and there were no info sessions during my interview day.

I interviewed in late January so I'm in the same boat. According to the thread last year, they started to send us WL placement in March (either HPWL or regular) but ultimately no acceptances will most likely be made until after Apr 30 (at least that's what happened last year)

Email! And I don't remember the exact date but I sent my LOI maybe about 2 weeks ago and my LOR maybe 3 weeks ago. Uploaded my LOR through AMCAS.

And yes my thought process was nothing to lose.
 
Seems kind of risky tbh since they explicitly ask you not to send pre-II updates. I guess it'll depend on who you get as a screener
 
Im kind of feeling like what do I have to lose? My mGPA is great, but my uGPA is very poor. I think my MCAT is just below average matriculant. Ive had radio silence so far - feeling pretty desperate.

If every applicant starts sending updates, I'll bet the Einstein adcom would get annoyed pretty fast.
Maybe you can email and ask for permission beforehand? Especially if you have a significant update.

Idk im very confident my LOI and LOR are why i got an II. you can put the update within the LOI

Heyo!
The changes were announced less than a week ago, so nothing is published online quite yet. I have asked the Einstein admin to put up the new info as soon as they can.

They are being implemented almost completely for the class of 2024 (since we already did the traditional first semester). By the time the class of 2025 gets on campus, they will be on track with the new curriculum.

It will look something like this: (However, take this with a grain of salt until the new curriculum is actually posted by Einstein).

Besides the suggested rules, what are the advantages to this versus the old curriculum?

Do any current students know if they are planning on having the biochem/basic science two week course before the official start of classes this year?

The biggest change is from 2 year to a 1.5 year preclerkship with a study period for Step1/2 after rotations. Other schools that have done this have had great results re: student preparedness and board scores.

However, for me, the smaller things make the biggest impact. Here are some of the highlights:
-Early pairing with specialty mentors (great for those interested in competitive fields)
-Expanded elective time to do research, service, individualized learning
-Half the amount of afternoon classes (i.e. more days ending at noon)
-New courses have been added, many outdated ones removed, and others shifted (these will likely not be perceptible to you, but do make everything flow together much better). E.g. Our bulky anatomy course has been cut down and integrated into other subjects
 
Can anyone comment on the post-interview update policy? I think I recall reading that Einstein accepts updates post-interview, and they only accept them up to a week afterward? Is that right? I haven't received any communication following my interview regarding sending updates.

Edit: think I was mistaken re: a one-week deadline. I did find this on their website:

We ask that you not send any updates after your application is completed, unless requested by the Admissions Committee. Anything that you would like to send prior to the completion of your application should be sent as quickly as possible. It's possible I'm confusing with another school (Duke maybe?) regarding the one-week post-II deadline.

But I haven't seen any instructions for post-II update submission at all.

They talked about how the Einstein curriculum is being completely revamped - reason why it's not on the website is because it literally got approved like half a week ago! Things that stood out to me were that the anatomy course has been cut down from ~200 hours to 97 hours (seems to be a welcome change) and starting clerkships earlier. Overall, was super impressed by the changes being made - seems like they took in a lot from student feedback. I think another MS1 here posted some more details too.
