2020-2021 Waitlist Support Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm usually just a lurker but I'm on 4 WL (probably 5 WL) and man if you told me at the beginning of the cycle that I would have 5 interviews but got waitlisted everywhere I wouldn't believe you.

Anyone else on a WL where you cant send them any updates at all and can only send an LOI if youre holding acceptances at other schools (which I'm not)? It's driving me crazy lol I want them to know what I've been up to & also I really want to go to schoole there!!!!

Honestly this period is....so bad for me, lol.

Mostly because I want to do reapp writing, but:

A. My brain has kind of turned into mush from fasting during Ramadan and working 40 hour weeks, so coming back home to write up essays, or study for an MCAT retake, in order to reapply a fourth time is....difficult, to say the least.
B. Kind of expanding off the last point, as someone who has applied three times, and this is the first time getting on waitlists, let alone getting interviews, I am kind of hopeful, I guess? And sort of just want to relax after such a chaotic year rather than prep for something that I hopefully won't need.

DON'T GET ME WRONG THOUGH. I did prep to some capacity, but the writing and studying for MCAT part....yeah, it's been difficult, haha.

Ayyyyyyyeeee, fellow Muzzie here! I KNOW all the feels! I studied for the MCAT last year during Ramadan and I was beyond exhausted. Now I'm thinking about starting new app for this cycle and it has me shook.

I feel so much dread and excitement at the same time lool preemptive disappointment/relief/excitement while imagining different scenarios sigh
I feel exactly this. One moment I'm super confident like yeah of course I'm gonna get pulled. And then the next second I'm like no, this is wishful thinking. While daydreaming about an acceptance is nice, I'm scared I'll hold onto this small sliver of hope for too long and make things worse for myself :/

So are we all under the impression that (hopefully) 3 WL=1 acceptance? more or less
If we’re operating under the old adage that you need 3 II to be an MD, I would think WL should still apply too since the acceptance rates used to create that motto included students accepted off the WL anyway.

Wow on a side note I love how transparent Case Western is. Guess I'll come back on Monday -- gonna be a long weekend. Good luck everyone!

you got a better chance than me bruh....im just hoping 1=1

I’m estimating that each one of my wait lists probably has at least 100 people on it so three schools 300 people... 3/300= 1/100 =1%

so basically, re-app time!!

Same about the fasting part in Ramadan!

For schools that don’t even touch the WL until May 1st, do y’all think it’ll still be a trickle process or is it more likely that acceptances will be sent out quite fast?
I'm also curious about this, the one school I'm on the WL for is unranked. So I'd bet that they will first pull those that match the stats/demographics of those with A's and have withdrawn - which takes time I'd imagine?

Hey guys! I am wondering how common it is to move on the WL after today? I am #1 on my 1 WL lol and I want to get in! I guess I don't understand how movement can happen after everyone withdraws their other apps. Anyone mind explaining? Thanks in advance, I am nervous 🤣
I would expect the bulk of WL movement to occur in the first two weeks or so of May
