I think OP meant if schools consider WLed applicants this year for the next year without having to reapply? Like gaining admission this cycle to start in Fall 2022.

unsure if youre talking about reapplying or being deferred but i know that last year keck (the only thread besides this one that i follow) deferred a few people! and this is my first cycle applying so i'm unsure about being considered after being WL'd the previous year but i'd assume if your app is stronger than when you got WL'd there'd be no reason to not consider you again!!
It's up to you, and I don't know what your application/scores look like, but the more schools you apply to, the more chances for acceptance you have. Why not apply to lots of MD and DO schools?
One of my WL schools had tons of movement today. It's still pretty early though for WL movement!

I think it's a bit premature for all of that - but in the HIGHLY unlikely case none of your 5 WL pull through I would recommend checking out Dr. Gray's 'Application Renovation' where he goes in-depth on unsuccessful applications (a lot of whom who have high stats just missed the mark in telling their narrative!). I watched all of Dr. Gray's videos post-applying and really wished I had listened beforehand - a wealth of knowledge!!

The Knick is my favorite medical show, but I'm not sure that's the best thing to distract yourself with LOL 🤣 Also, billions is a great show and I’m currently at season 3

It's actually not debatable. "Ranked" is a term of art, and only applies to schools that strictly rank. Again, most schools don't rank, because they forfeit flexibility by doing so. Tiers are not ranks. By the way, all public schools have separate ranks, or tiers, for IS and OOS, because the two groups tend to have very different yields, and the schools need to maintain whatever ratios they establish for the two groups.
THIS and don't get me wrong - everyone who got the A today more than deserves it and should be so incredibly proud of themselves - but my stomach did do some backflips when I saw there was an A wave today and I just wasn't on it 🥺

I tried to set up a phone meeting with a school today for app feedback and they told me they were only doing feedback for applicants with no waitlists or acceptances. Not sure if it’s the same as the school your talking about, but thought I’d share
definitely up imo...more and more ppl apply each cycle...if there is a "Fauci effect" that might occur starting next cycle
I don't understand. Why would they care so long as you don't have an active application with them? Also, how would they know what you have after they've rejected you?
No As makes sense, because that's just wasting their time. But, no WLs? Why? Especially if that's going to run right into the next cycle when they are not going to provide feedback anymore because you'll once again be an active candidate!!

If it makes you feel any better, I’ve had six gap years! But in that time, I gained more face to face clinical experience than probably most of my matriculating class, was able to publish papers, and most importantly, gain a lot of independence and maturity. I got my acceptance but at the end of the day there isn’t much difference between starting med school in your early, mid, or late twenties (except that maybe more gap years means you’ll be more equipped to handle it once you get in!) It’s a huge bummer for sure (I had one unsuccessful cycle prior to this one) but once you get in, all of the extra time and effort you put in feels worth it and you are a better applicant for it 🙂
