2020-2021 Weill Cornell

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah not to be entirely pessimistic but I’m nearly sure they’re done with As. 15 ish this year is around past years’ averages on SDN.

Anyone know how many people are placed/accepted off the WL?

I heard that about 40% of a class might come off the waitlist so I think WL is a good place to be!

I have not heard back yet myself so praying I get WL over R 🙏

Does anyone understand how the CWID works?
It’s basically just going to be your email handle before the @med.Cornell.edu and you use it by itself to log into some other WCM websites too!

But did we get provided with them? In the form in the acceptance letter it says "Your Personal CWID: (INSERT INFO/MAIL MERGE" - so are we getting a separate email with our actual CWID so we can activate it? Or do other people's letters have their actual CWIDs in them?

I got the A yesterday at 6 Pm EST and I wrote them a LOI and update in early February fwiw

Oh my bad, I currently work at Cornell so I have one already and didn’t read it too carefully, but yes mine does say that too!

I called them and they said decisions are ongoing and we should hear back in the next few weeks. Sounds like they have made the decisions but are rolling them out slowly. Idk if that means anymore A or just WL/R, but just wanted to share what I heard in case it lowers anyone's anxiety 🙂

OMG 😳 that makes me simultaneously relieved and anxious hahaha I just want to know. I had a very restless sleep last night

desperately hoping this means the new admissions team adopted a new policy that could still lead to more initial A's being given out over a few days than all at once! thank you for calling them!!

Can someone anon call to clarify what they mean by ongoing decisions? Aka all WL more A all R or what

Lol I missed this neuroticism .. last yrs thread was fun

grats to all the As!! happy to answer any questions u have

to those waiting, keep hope bc there’s lots of movement on the WL historically and in my class
Could you may be ask your admissions office if they have more As coming? Please please please.

Do they send you a confirmation email after submitting your acceptance form? I haven't gotten a response

Who do we send the accepted student reply form to?

A student told me this is true on interview day
It also says this on the website. If you look at the IT page or something it says current students all get iPads. On the interview day they talked about apps specifically designed for learning at Cornell so it makes sense. Super cool!

But are the iPads something we keep even after we graduate. Or is it just something we are “borrowing”?

Still waiting for decisions

Just my thought after reading purplebourdain's post

Unless they send out all the decisions within a day or two, I think Cornell simply sent out 106 acceptances to meet the "recommendation from the AAMC that they have to report the # of As that equals to their class size by 3/15." I'm assuming they need more time to select the rest of As (100~150). At least I hope at this point.

Otherwise why would they withhold giving out r and Wl

So we are guessing that they have given out 106 As or is that a known fact?

Was anyone else anxiously refreshing both SDN and their email between 3 and 3:15 or was it just me lmao hoping the coming days bring good news to us all!

I interviewed in February

Also, the AAMC recommendations are just that, recommendations. We already knew from NYU very early on the cycle that schools don't have to follow these recommendations (hence NYU giving out acceptances way before Oct 15).

Many schools will wait to give out R's and WL's. They might be deliberating giving out more A's, but I wouldn't recommend anyone hold their breath for an acceptance.

FYI our accepted fb group grew to around 230 students. Let’s be generous and say 30 of thos were current students at the time and joined to answer questions

That means they ended up accepting about 100 more than the intended class size when it was all said and done
