2022-2023 Waitlist Support Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My school has been dead silent for the past two weeks after a week of multiple people getting off the AL. Does this mean it's over for me?
Schools often give those lifted from the waitlist two weeks to consider the offer (as long as orientation is more than a month off).
Some will take the full two weeks, so some of those spots may open up around now.

If no A this week then I’m afraid my Squidward arc will be coming to a completion 🙁

feeling defeated as well, but let’s hold on to hope still!

i guess just the feeling of being so close yet so far is what really hurts me. I swear it just feels unobtainable, and it just eats me up.. i wish i could just experience that joy of getting in, all my hard work being worth it. i really hope i can get an offer and not have to reapply..

Is it unusual/frowned upon to ask adcoms our general position on the waitlist? Or should one steer clear of that

If they are a school that does this, they would have already told you, like saying "You are on our high priority WL", or "you are in the top third of our WL" and so on.
Reply to any emails they send and in the meantime, "more waiting."

n=1 but one of the schools I'm on has a ranked WL and didn't say it was ranked. I emailed and they told me my position number

Daily manifestation is back..

I have decided that I will be receiving an acceptance call or email from my waitlist school by the end of this week. Thank you <3!!

Lol I genuinely would not be surprised if they just started charging students for this information in the future.
I’d pay , it would be hugely helpful. And I don’t see who it would hurt, amcas could even just give a daily WL / open spots / etc that would be helpful for everyone’s mental health. Save admins a lot of emails / phone calls too .

The decisions of other students are private, just as you expect yours to be.

hi friends, so like many of people on here have already expressed, I’ve been feeling pretty bummed this week. I have 6 waitlists, and I was really hoping to see movement by now, but sadly no news yet. Everywhere I look, I see people saying that most of the waitlist movement happens in late April/early May but now that we’re well into mid/late May, I’m started to feel a little discouraged that this is going to go my way. Is the waitlist movement truly delayed this year, or am I deluding myself? I poured my heart and soul into my app, waited until I was truly ready to apply, and i feel like if my app this year wasn’t good enough, then it likely won’t ever be. 🙁

With 6 waitlists you still have a pretty good shot, even at a June/July miracle.

Joining the manifestation train:

I have decided that I will be receiving an acceptance email from my waitlist school by the end of this week. 🙏

Congrats on all the As today y'all!!!
I received my Waitlist A earlier today and words truly cannot describe the feeling. Hang in there y'all, it's not over until it's over!!

Hi everyone! I was sitting on 3 WLs and was accepted today at my top choice!! Words cannot even begin to describe how I feel and the emotional rollercoaster of this entire process. The reality of reapplying set in last week and I was so sure that this cycle wasn't going to pan out... but things took a turn and I'm still in disbelief. Applying to med school and especially sitting on a waitlist is extremely, extremely difficult so I know how each of you feels - you are not alone in this. As hard as it is to not self doubt, getting this far is well beyond what most people are able to do and you should not be discouraged. Keep your head up and look for the positives. Things will always work out how they're meant to. Wishing you all the best <3

Hopping on this manifestation train too: ✨✨I will be receiving an acceptance from my top choice this week!!! ✨✨

I also want to say for all those still on a WL, do not lose hope. This entire process is so agonizing but like many have said, it's not over until it's over. Not sure if movement has just been slow but I am confident that there will continue to be news throughout June/July as well, as CTE deadlines pass and applicants release WL positions. Got off one of my two WLs about 2 weeks ago, and feeling incredibly grateful for my first MD acceptance this cycle. But I'm still with you all on the uncertainty of all this! I remain on the WL for my top choice and I'm really hoping to hear news before the CTE deadline at the school I've been accepted to 😢

That being said, does anyone have any insight or anecdotes of schools making exceptions for students regarding their CTE deadline? The CTE deadline for the school I was accepted to is 7/1 with the school year starting 7/29. My top choice's CTE deadline is 6/1 with start date of 8/14. But during my interview, admissions said that it's possible for students to get As off the WL even on the Friday before orientation. The last year's sdn thread of this school also showed people getting in throughout June, past their CTE deadline. I've also heard of stories where some people have started school elsewhere already and still got off the WL. I want to hold out as long as I possibly can but I'm not sure if this is even logistically possible. Any advice would be appreciated lol

Are any of y'all on WL for TMDSAS schools? I have no As and all three of my WL schools are TMDSAS schools. We've passed the May 15th deadline where schools can no longer make offers to Texas resident applicants holding another seat. That being the case, I find it hard to believe there is going to be much more movement for this cycle so I am doubtful that I will get off the WL. Is there anyone who could shed some light on this? I know that people may not have had to CTE yet, but at what point will they have to do that? I just feel so lost in this whole process.

To be quite frank, I almost would rather be rejected at this point so that I could full-heartedly focus on reapplying and make plans for the next year instead of being stuck in limbo and then scrambling to get everything ready to start school.

Yup! I’m waitlisted for a TMDSAS school. I am OOS, so it’s a long shot. Not sure about what the likelihood is at this point.

I think we'll have another month of WL offers coming up in Texas. There are still some folks holding several MD acceptances judging by our busy "Help Me Decide" forum, and when they leave behind a TX school to go OOS, TX will fill those gaps.

With 6 interviews—>6 waitlists, your app is good! Your interview skills may need a little work, but hopefully one of your waitlist schools will come through.
