2023-2024 Einstein

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How much do post-interview thank you letters/emails have an impact at Einstein? I saw in a thread a couple of years ago that they do? Thank you!

When I interviewed and talked to the students it seemed like something minor

Were they like 4th years? In which case it wouldn’t affect them too much bc they’d get there degree - but like if I was an M1 or M2, I’d be scared and mad lmao

I forget exactly but it was more along the lines that Einstein is a well established medical school and will get off probation and it was stuff like study spaces for students and campus technology and things like that (paraphrasing)

From earlier in this thread:
Several friends at Einstein, spoke to a couple days ago about it. Can provide the details I know.

The probationary status is not yet in place. The news is brand new and they wanted to send it to the meds students and applicants early to be transparent.

The citations from LCME were apparently mainly from graduating student reviews. They were dissatisfied with the number of study spaces on campus and student health services that were available. There was also a few administrative issues like a yearly "I understand the school's technical standards" agreement form that needed to be re-signed every year but was only signed at matriculation.

The areas were originally labeled "need of improvement" on the LCME site visit, but were changed to citations on the LCME full review. They're in the process of constructing new study spaces and moving staff to student health services, but the decision is based on when the committee meets and not what the school does after the committee gives feedback.

I'm not familiar with all the details of the situation or LCME's processes, but it seems like the areas of insufficiency were pretty minor but added up. They'll be reviewed in another year and if those areas are corrected, they'll be off probation.
Einstein was found to be deficient in 22 of the ~90 criteria considered by the LCME. Some were fairly minor (for example, missing signatures on affiliation agreements), some were more significant (for example, concerns about the financial stability of Einstein and its corporate parent), and others somewhere in between (for example, >50% of students dissatisfied with preparation for the clinical portion of their education, >50% of students dissatisfied with guidance surrounding residency applications)

If I haven't heard from Einstein at all since I applied, should I assume that's a silent rejection?

Am I the only one who thought they only took post interview updates?
Sent an update on 11/22 and this was the email I got back. This was pre-II

How soon after interview can we expect a decision?

interview was a little too chill imo. i honestly dont know how this school makes decisions since everyone feels good after the interview. the wait till february is gonna be long

Does anyone have any insight as to how often the committee members meet or how we are evaluated after our interviews? For those who interviewed this week-would our decisions be made after the holidays? Thanks!

This school sends decisions started Feb 1

yes but they only accept them if you're invited for an interview. i emailed them to ask and that's what they told me

Hi everyone!

The submission portal says:

"If you have also remitted the application fee, submitted your photo, completed your MCATS and seen to it that all your evaluations have been received, your application will be reviewed within eight weeks."

My application was complete on 8/28, so I was hoping to hear back around the end of October. Do you think there is just a ~2 month delay and should I contact the admissions team to check on this?

Thanks 🙂

Bro, I have been complete since July… they’re just ghosting us at this point. Better to just keep hoping for an II tho!

Decisions come out Feb 1st, but with the way the months is going by so fast, it'll be around the corner.

Good luck to all of us interviewed here thus far! Looking forward to great news next month!
