I am so defeated rn that I can't get myself to reapply. This will be my 4th time reapplying but I think it's time to call it quits. 1st time finally getting my mcat score to 500 after a few retakes, and first time ever getting on the waitlist to not just 1 but 2 MD schools. Still, I feel so lost. I feel like this whole process has ruined and robbed me of 4 years that I could've used for other careers... Can't see myself doing anything else but if I don't hear good news from atleast 1 of these schools soon, I really don't know what I'll do
i know right, im happy hearing everyone getting accepted from my school, but i also feel so defeated as well. its so unsettling trying to restudy and reapply for the mcat
what have we not done? have we not worked hard? have we not shown we are capable of being great medical students?

Ugh, this process is so challenging. Have you applied to DO or gotten a mentor? Hang in there.

im so sorry 🙁 i think we're deferred at the same school. it's SO HARD being selected to interview from 16,000 applicants, and then.... just not getting to move on to being accepted. it's like missing one question on the test and getting a B+. i genuinely dont know where I went wrong 😢
same. I had 3 IIs and end up with a post-ii r, a WL, and a deferral, and i wish i knew exactly where i made my mistakes🙁

On two WL for in state DO programs. Really thought I would be getting off at least one of them but it’s June and I need to move to Florida soon. I’m so saddd :/
call admissions if you haven't yet called (or even if you've already called before!), find out if their WLs are ranked and just re-express your interest, you never know...

I am moving to Florida as well! as of today!. My head is spinning, the adrenaline is wearing off. First med school acceptance. Have 35 days to move down there. I just accepted a financial aid offer at another institution today. 🤣 what happens if the othertwo schools thatI am waitlisted at accept me? (they are closer/in-state/cheaper?
If you are accepted to an MD school, and are just PTE, you may remain on waitlists. If you are CTE, you must withdraw from MD waitlists.
I don't know the rules for DO schools.

I emailed and called. One of them is ranked but not disclosed. I’m debating just flat out telling I need to move soon and to please tell me if there’s any hope
I know I asked this before, but I just wanted to make sure and I’m nervous about making a mistake. I got accepted to a DO school and classes start in July, if I accept my financial aid package and later get into my waitlisted MD school and switch. Will I need to pay off two loans?
No, because when you withdraw from one school and enroll in another, the schools' financial aid offices have to notify the Dept. of Education accordingly.

How are people navigating moving forward logistically with the school you PTE while being on waitlists that you would accept over the current school? I want to start looking at apartments and sign a lease as I would have to move for the current school but I don’t want to be stuck in a lease and break the contract if I get off a WL at another school …

Personally waiting for a unit to be available but will sign the lease when I can. If I get off the waitlist God willing then I’ll just break it. school starts in for me in less than 6 weeks and ideally I want to move in a month.

Signed a lease and was up front about the (slim) possibility of breaking it given waitlist movement. The landlord had housed med students before and was cool about it. I payed first and last month of rent and a security deposit, so if I break the lease I lose that money.
It’s been good for me mentally to start taking concrete steps for my PTE school. Moving forward is helping with the disappointment about other schools not working out.
It is entirely school-dependent.

My top choice WL just sent out a memo indicating they are now officially full.😭 My dream of staying in California is done and I am trying my best to not be sad and just be grateful for my current OOS A. It was a fun dream while it lasted. Wishing you all the best in the upcoming weeks and that you all get the A of your dreams. This thread has been so great.
I accepted the fact this will be me this upcoming week. Regardless, congratulations on your OOS A! Maybe that OOS school is meant to be

I know it sucks but if it's something your truly want to do then don't give up! I know several doctors who took 4-5 times to get in, it only takes one. Something that has kept me going is a quote by Rosevelt that states "comparison is the thief of all joy"... so try and keep your head up (I know easier said then done, I feel the same way currently)

2 days ago I received a Waitlist Acceptance From my top choice that I interviewed at! As soon as I received the acceptance The other school was notified so I chose to withdraw. Unfortunately, I had already signed a lease and paid a deposit for a rental house in Florida. The Leasing Company is being difficult and I have explained the situation and how I am Trying to Void the Lease. Do you have any advice to offer?

Don't give up. I applied 5 times over a span of 10 years and finally got in. I also barely hit a 500 mcat score, GPA wasn't that great either.Got 2 acceptances= 1 MD and 1 DO
