I'm actually slogging through finishing my dissertation right now and getting ready to defend and then start the new gig, so it might be a while before I can really give it a good look, at least two weeks cause I need to focus hardcore....if you need a response quicker than that I might not be the best option but if you have the time I can still do it if you PM me.

I'm stuck because I want to reuse my essays from last year (they were pretty fine-tuned and are still current on how I feel) but the character count has been extended, and I'm having a hard time expanding on my year-old ideas.

Have you tried just completely rewriting them with the same topics? And not trying to add words to the old essays?
(Also I assume in file reviews they said your essays were fine)

I wouldn't get it the same. I had excellent feedback the first time to get them to where they are. But yes, in file review they were well-liked.

Well if you answer the questions and aren't insanely below the limit, I would stick with what you have. Can't see them punishing you for being under the limit as long as you answer the prompts.

Not yet. We normally don't make one until applications open later this year that way the thread is relavent and doesn't get lost in the abyss

Ziggyandjazzy, Oregon State ‘22, I can help you with whatever. Fine tuning tiny grammar issues is not my forte as I grew up with a bilingual education. I can definitely help you with your “story” and getting across what you want to. I tend towards brutal honesty lol. (I can fix formatting on this post later, on my phone atm bc I am unfortunately having MacBook issues, again, sigh)

Elkhart | Former member of the c/o 2020 | I'd say that my greatest strengths lie in nitpicking grammar and other general mechanics such as flow and word choice/variability. Truthfully, I'm probably best utilized as a final proofreader moreso than as a starting point.

mmmdreamerz | c/o 2021 | I can definitely help with grammar but my favorite thing is to help make the writing “flow.” Happy to help with anything really. I’ll be honest, but I’ll be nice about it haha.

I'm also willing to help you put together your story/make your writing flow, but I'm not great at putting things together from the very, very beginning, so please come to me with something already written. MD PhD| MD PhD c/o 2021 | Name says it all. Long time lurker. Would love to give back to the SDN community as it helped me a lot during my application process (especially the school specific threads.) Can check for grammar and flow.

MSUcvmHOPE | Michigan State cvm c/o 2023 | focus mostly on making sure you answer the prompt, cleanliness of wording, and grammar | reporting for duty!
