Last reported interview last year was on Feb 8 so I wouldn't get my hopes up unfort 🙁
 
Does anyone know if the letters of disposition are only acceptances/waitlists/rejections, or do they defer further decisions?
 
Do y'all think it's too late to send update letters?

Are you sure less students will withdraw because of the free-tuition? I think that depends a lot on what other schools they got into
 
Even with free tuition, I still think Einstein will have somewhat of a yield problem. Wealthy premeds and top applicants that get accepted elsewhere will have a lot of options that give similar or better aid. Heck, Einstein is probably the 6th best med school in its own state lol (Columbia, NYU, NYU LI, Cornell, Icahn and heck SBU might be better too) so in-state yield will probably be a issue.

Regardless, y'all just gotta wait it out

Historical rankings (med school quality and residency placement), perceived reputation within medicine (and outside medicine too tbh), research opportunities/funding (NIH, state, and beyond), amount of resources, teaching/learning hospital quality and presence, adherence to mission statement and values, accreditation history, and other factors.
 
The yield was on-par with HMS last year (75-80%), and the accepted students this year will be even lower because of a pathway program. The historical yield was already high (55%). It's unclear how the yield will shape over time; when NYU started recruiting the highest stat applicants, the yield went back down to 45-50% and has hovered there for years.

This is an insane comment, and I've seen similar ones in prior cycles from students awaiting decisions attempting to score an early A from the WL (they were unsuccessful).

What pathway program are you referring to that wasn’t already in place last year

LOLLL....I'm not gonna try to rebuttle every single point you made, but Einstein is a great program and very prestigious in NY. They also serve a very diverse population! Please do not spread misinformation on here.
 
They also interviewed a lot more applicants this year so no matter how you look at it their acceptance percentage is going to be very very low.
 
For people that interviewed mid/late Feb, do you know when should we expect to find out?

Bummer that you’re getting flamed for true statements. Same thing happened when I brought up legitimate criticisms of my IS school. People lurking in the school specific threads are going to be ride or die for that school, unfortunately.

I also mentioned that Einstein will have a lower Yield. But him saying Einstein is like the 6th best school in New York seemed a lil off...so I just explained why Einstein is a great school so people are not misinformed. Because I have actually lived in NY.

Bro, Einstein being 4th/5th/6th best school in the state is probably better than at least 100 other med schools and would top most top med schools of other states. New York literally has 15 MD schools and 4 (5 if you count NYU LI as separate from Grossman) of them are T20s lol. (Saying SBU is better Einstein is probably my bad but accreditation issues were at one point a concern)

Also, I have lived in the Bronx lol (live elsewhere now, but point still stands) and have family 10 minutes away from the campus.

I was trying to create some optimism (albeit not in an effective way) about WL movement and yield but obviously I hit some nerves in a day where R waves went flying

I do agree with you that NY is literally the best place in medicine and the 10th best school in NY is still better than most places...no love lost, House

No, that's not the reason. He was putting down the school around decision release time. It's an (unfortunately) extremely common trend for many competitive schools most years (I've seen it for NW, UCSD, Kaiser, etc.) The most gracious explanation is that these people are trying to "cope" during the waiting period with hope that the waitlist will be visited often. But the more likely reason is that they are trying to push others to forfeit spots for themselves.

Yield for Einstein was extremely high last cycle (one of the highest in the country). Coupled with the significant increase in applications this year, the acceptance rate will likely drop significantly, even more than it did last year. But it isn't right to try to manipulate decisions dishonestly on others behalf (even if it's ineffective).

On an unrelated note, I wish their update upload portal would let you see the update you uploaded, like most med schools' portals do.

A little nerve-wracking that you just get the one "Upload complete" message with no other confirmation.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think nicety of your interviewer correlates well with your chances of getting an A. They look at your whole app. Have hope!

I had the Worst experience at a top top school and got the A, never lose hope take it from me lol

Unfortunately yeah. People have had interviewers say "I'm confident I'll be seeing you next summer" only to get WLed or post-II R'd. Expect the worst and hope for the best.
