Tip for applicants from an info session - answer all secondary questions (including optional!), except if you didn't work during undergrad for that question.

Looking at the secondary from the previous cycle. Currently I am applying 4 years after graduating undergrad (class of 2020). I did a DIY postbac after graduating but it was not part of a formal postbac. Do you all think I will need to obtain a letter of good standing from this institution?

Edit: I have individual letters, I currently have 2 science letters, 1 physician letter, and 2 volunteer supervisor letters.

I got a couple of questions, they might be dumb, but I need some help.

If I just graduated college this May, would I answer "Yes" to the question asking "I have taken at least a year off from school since college graduation, including this year that I am applying."

Another question is I am a reapplicant, and I didn't get any MD A's but I did get 1 DO A. Should I answer "Yes" to the question asking "I was accepted to medical school previously but did not attend." Since schools can't see a DO acceptance anywhere on my application, does it hurt me in anyway mentioning it or does it benefit me?

you would say yes, if you applied your junior year of undergrad then it would be no -bc you would be beginning med school a few months after graduating.

Same issue I am going crazy. Admissions responded to my email and said to call WebAdMIT Support at 617-612-2881, but they are not open until Monday. If anyone else is having the same issue, please update me.

I uploaded a sports headshot before finding out we're supposed to be wearing formal clothes in our headshot and now I can't change it—I fear it's over for me before it's even started :scared:

You guys think I can ask the admissions office to let me change it?

I don’t think anyone is able to submit right now. Same with many other secondaries atm where people aren’t showing up as complete.

A few days or a week won’t really make a bit of difference, all we can do is wait. This might even be intentional to stop submission until July 1st, when most schools have stated on MSAR that they will begin reviewing applicants.
My issue is not that I can't submit, it's that I don't have anything on my portal besides a photo upload. I can't see any of the essays or questions prompts, just a blank screen with a photo submission button.

I think this is all of us right now minus pm-me-tardigrades (unless they copied that over from last year's because it looks the same) unfortunately. The email they sent out does say "next step" and the photo portal says "Please use this portal to upload your photo at the time you submit your Supplemental Application. A photo is required and is used for identification purposes only." so I'm wondering if that's literally only for photos and there's another secondary portal that gets sent out later

I'm able to see the essay questions

Did anyone else get the LCME accreditation email about their designation being modified to "“Full Accreditation on Probation” and know what that means?

Aw man, dang hmm. Were they on the home screen of the application portal (like under where it says photo upload)?
On my phone rn but this is what the home screen looks like for me

I'm able to see a section above the "upload photo" section that lets me "Start Response". The prompts are from this year!

Yeah, I only see the photo upload portion. Probably have to call WebAdmit on Monday. Thanks Einstein!!!

OOS Secondary Received 06/29, Submitted Primary 05/28. I was able to see all the questions, answer them, and pay/submit without much issue as of 5 PM today.

I also can’t see the prompts! Although I haven’t uploaded a photo yet, so that might be why

For the unique life experiences question, do yall think we have to address the specific challenges/successes part? Or can we just talk generally about our experiences?

thank you for your help I really appreciate it !! guess I'll have to call the IT number Monday unfortunately
I just got another email! Looks exactly like the first secondary email, and now I can submit the secondary. Hang in there!!!

Did you email them saying it didn't work first or was the second email unprompted?

I'm having the same issue. Any suggestions?

I emailed them earlier in the day, but they just told me to call help desk (closed on weekends). This email came in nearly an hour ago unprompted. Hope this helps.

Yeah I also uploaded my photo before realizing they wanted the size to be 2x2 inches. I went to adjust it but realized I can't replace the photo I uploaded. I click on the file and it's just my face completely blown up lol

Same XD got jumpscared by the zoom-in on my nose

Btw, I just tried my portal again and I can see the questions now (I couldn't before). Maybe they reset something

Does anyone know how strict they are about having an LOR from a professor in your major? I have two from professors in the same college as my major, but none technically from that specific department. Been out of school for so long that even getting those two was a struggle.

Hi, anyone applying to MSTP received secondary? are there additional questions to this above?
I received the secondary, these are the extra questions:

A. MSTP INFORMATION

In the list below and in the following question, please indicate the field(s) of your prior research experience. Check all that apply.
(There is a checklist after this)

Please describe briefly the field(s) in which you plan to pursue your future research. We are looking for the big picture, Aging, Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Immunology, etc., not the specific focus. (250 Characters)

Please list your previous scientific presentations and abstracts. List all authors, abstract titles, name of meeting, and date of meeting. List each meeting on a separate line. Please do not include the text of the abstract. (9999 Characters)

Please list publications on which you are a co-author. List each on a separate line. Include names of all authors, title, journal, year of publication, and volume and page number(s). Please do not list papers that are “in preparation.” (9999 Characters)

If you are not offered an interview or a position in the MSTP, do you want your application to be considered by the MD or PhD program or neither? Please check below.
(There is a drop down menu under this)

Please indicate which was your favorite course in college and why. (3000 Characters)

Is anyone leaving the "Please use this space to tell us anything about yourself that you would like us to know" prompt blank? Still a little confused about the consensus for optional additional info prompts.

Is anyone leaving the "Please use this space to tell us anything about yourself that you would like us to know" prompt blank? Still a little confused about the consensus for optional additional info prompts.

Whenever I see the “anything else?” prompt I think of it as something that probably should be answered, but I’m not gonna beat myself up if I don’t answer it.

My policy is to ask “is there ANY other high quality story that I can tell to this school?” My answer is usually “no” if I have any amount of secondary fatigue at that moment, or “yes” if I am being honest with myself. The more pre writing I do for mandatory essays for other schools, the more obvious it becomes that there are plenty of high quality stories to tell.

So with this in mind, if you have already written like 10+ prompts for the school and truly have nothing else that’s high quality to slot in (e.g., COVID, Why Us, etc.) then leave it blank and don’t feel bad about it. If you haven’t, maybe focus on pre writing mandatory essays for different schools to get some inspiration?

Is anyone leaving the "Please use this space to tell us anything about yourself that you would like us to know" prompt blank? Still a little confused about the consensus for optional additional info prompts.
You can literally paste any other well written essay that makes you look thoughtful, service oriented, caring for humanity.
