TCOM is very specific about who they send interviews to, so dw if you do not have an interview so far from TCOM. I was looking at the statistics and TCOM only interviews around 650 people compared to SHSU who interviews 1000+ people on the same number of total applications.

Interview from TCOM today yipee! They had very few dates open but they told me they open new dates every week so check back!

Is it common for interviews to be scheduled via signupgenius?? I have not seen this before bwahaha

I submitted my secondary on July 6 and it is still saying it is incomplete/missing. I have sent two follow up emails now and they have stated they are delayed approximately 2 weeks. Any suggestions? Just want to make sure I get into the review process early enough...

I attended one of the preview days for TCOM and one thing admissions emphasized is that they don't invite too many people (I heard less than 700 interviewed last year for 400-450 acceptances). So congrats for those getting the II, and hoping for mine as well!

Did they actually say 400-450? I remember them saying 650-700 interviews and then their class size, but I don't remember them saying the number of people they ranked. Although 400-450 makes a lot of sense for a class size of 230
Also, does anyone happen to know if TCOM uses a composite scoring system to determine rankings or if they only use the interview?
All of their admission data is posted on the website I think. You can see acceptances for the two recent published years.

Is the preview day the information session?

TCOM interviewed 687 people for the 2024 cycle, admitted 486 (offers extended), and 241 matriculated. So at least based on last year's data, more than 2/3 of interview invitees got offers, although this could certainly change for the current cycle.

I'm pulling the numbers from the admissions presentation during the TCOM Preview Day. I suppose Preview Day could also be considered an information session although I'm not sure if those are the same things.

Hope that helps!

wow so seems like nearly a 70-80% acceptance rate if you are given an interview

Also one thing I'm wondering about is since TCOM is one of the few Texas schools offering Early Decision, whether the majority of the early II's are to the ED applicants (since they have to decide on them by 10/1) or they still give lot of slots to regular TMDSAS applicants. Thoughts?

Based on the data I viewed, the % of TCOM interview invites that got admit offers during the past 5 years are as follows:

2024 = 71%
2023 = 76%
2022 = 59%
2021 = 59%
2020 = 60%

So 70% is probably upper end, and it could easily swing down to 60%ish for this cycle based on historical range, so I wouldn't read too much into last year's numbers.

P.S. I'm a non-trad with business/investments background so like to dig into the data 🙂

That is very nice of you to compile the data. I did not know they were doing preview days for TCOM in 2024. How did you find preview day for this year? When I go on their website, all I see are informational sessions.

TCOM is super selective about who they interview, so I think these numbers are as expected. Similar size schools like UTMB for example, interview into the 1000s.

I do not think so. I also think some of TCOM's interviews are post match day for a waitlist spot. So I think the acceptance rate post-interview may be higher if you receive one prior to match day.

Hi all. First year at TCOM and in the fourth week. If anyone has any questions about the school or anything else, feel free to reply/message me! I’ll gladly answer any I can!

How long after you submit your secondary and payment does it show up in your portal as complete? My to do list still says I need to submit them.

Might be a bit early to ask since I don't even have an interview invite, but what % of classes during pre clinicals are recorded and could be attended virtually (or recording listened to later) vs. mandatory in-person?

Obviously OMM wouldn't fall into that camp but curious about the other classes. If I attend TCOM I'd be commuting from Dallas suburbs so was curious. Thank you!

How many minutes drive?

Everything is recorded for us! The way it’s set up is we have “DSAs” which are usually PowerPoints with videos (you don’t have to watch the video). Then usually a day or two after the DSAs are assigned, they have “MLMs” which you can go in person to and basically answer practice questions from the professor. Those sessions are recorded and the PowerPoints with the questions are uploaded. Occasionally, there will be a quiz in one of the MLM sessions, which are required to be in attendance for, but we’ve only had 3 quizzes in 4 weeks so far.
We start OMM our first week and that’s mandatory. We are also starting a class called clinical communications, which teaches us how to communicate in patient encounters. This is mandatory, and so is another class called where they teach us our physical exam skills. They usually happen once or twice a week.
After we finish cell molecular biology next week, we will beginning anatomy lab, which will also be required attendance.
Sorry that was a lot of info, but overall, you can go to classes on campus every day if you choose. However, there will be weeks where you aren’t required to go for one or two days like this week.

Anyone have any resources to prep for the interview here? The SDN interview feedback for this school isn't super helpful :/ It's my first interview so I have the nerves lol

Has anyone interviewed yet or have details pertaining to interview day... open or closed file?; MMI?; Traditional?; etc. Thanks!

A week and a half ago lol
Honestly 0, idea why they sent it so fast. Extracurriculars were 1300 hours as a pct, D.O shadowing, research at a medical school, volunteering at an immigrant center. I also called them yesterday asking them about something in my application portal and got the interview today

DO shadowing is a big plus for TCOM. But it is holistic. They really liked the entirety of your application. Congrats on the interview!

Do you think calling them yesterday prompted them to look at my app? It is just so coincidental

Perhaps it did, but at the same it could be coincidental. Nonetheless, you got the interview, so you do not have to go back to the old stages of worrying about getting an interview or why they called you for the interview 😉

What's the average turnaround time between submitting secondaries and receiving an II?

Also, I feel bad because I utilized holistic and comprehensive care interchangeably in my secondary... they're similar but overall different ... pain.

Any tips to prepare for the interview? First interview of the cycle and I am a bit scared. I heard it isn’t bad tho

Hi guys, I just submitted my secondary and I'm worried about the fee going through because it seems very separate. Did y'all have a separate third-party website to pay the fees, and was that later matched up with your secondary to be marked complete?

IS II received just this afternoon (9/3 Tuesday). LM score of 75 and I was complete 7/24.

This is my first II so super excited!
