2025-2026 Louisville Secondary Essay Prompts (150 words each)

1. Why have you chosen to apply to the University of Louisville School of Medicine?

2. Describe any additional experiences, interests, hobbies, or skills not included in other areas of your application or that you have completed since submitting your AMCAS application.

3. If you are a reapplicant, what has changed from your previous application or your approach to this year's admissions cycle?

4. What has been your most significant contribution to your community, through service or volunteerism? What was its impact on the community and on you?

5. Is there any context for your undergraduate years that would help the committee to understand your academic performance? For example, students who come from rural areas, who worked long hours in paid employment during college, or who are first generation college graduates may not have the same access to opportunities and support as students from other environments.

6. The University of Louisville School of Medicine's mission is to improve the health and vitality of our community, our commonwealth, and our world by educating the next generation of physicians and scientists. This mission includes caring for underserved areas of Kentucky. Describe how your experiences and attributes equip you to care for underserved communities.

7. Which areas of medical practice are you interested in pursuing during residency? How do you see yourself practicing medicine after residency training, including location?

Good luck to all applying!

if I dont have any additional experiences since the primary application, should I be answering question 2?

Is it okay to not put anything down for 5 if we don't have anything to explain? I could maybe stretch it and talk about one bad quarter due to taking on too many things at once

did anyone else get the email about being placed in the possible interview pool after review? does everyone receive this or does it actually mean something?

I just got this email, I assume they're just letting us know that they've manually reviewed our application and meet all their prerequisite requirements
