Around 20% of my stat group get rejected from all schools, and I am willing to apply to about 55-60 schools maximum to avoid being in that 20%. I am in an uncomfortable situation where I have a good MCAT score that might result in some yield protection, but I am pretty plain and cookie cutter with a GPA at or below the 10th percentile at most T20s.

...

524/ low 3.8x cGPA and sGPA
Huh? Where are you getting your information? That's not what the grid says.

What are your Casper and PREview scores?

As a Washington resident, you should have a very strong shot with UW, especially with your research accomplishments. Aside from that i have no sense of your mission fit, which is what will make you strike out. 60 schools is madness.

17% is closer to 1 in 6 than it is to 1 in 5. Regardless, you are catastrophizing. We have no clue about your application details, including strength of references and experiences based on what you provided.

I still need to take CASPER and PREview. Are they important for UW? I limit information about what kind of research and activities I did and my personal background for anonymity, but my application is focused around neurodegenerative disease research and care.

I don't think they are important for UW, but they are for some schools on your list.

Why aren't you going for a PhD? Lots of great research in that area around Seattle.

Can't say more about fit if you can't describe more about your journey or motivation to pursue medicine. The one applicant in 6 who failed to get an offer likely didn't demonstrate this. If you are only going to hit your research, you aren't showing enough about why you want to be a physician, or you should look at MD/PhD or similar programs.

I suggest these schools from your list with your MCAT of 524 and 3.8+ GPA:
