hey i gotta a C and C- in chem 1 and 2... in my last semester i took biochemistry and got an A+... but on the secondaries it asks for your chem 1 and 2 grades which are bad... also my grades in bio 1 and 2 are poor because i was a freshman and partying... my grades in my last 2 years are strait A+ sprinkled with a few As and A-s what up with me

i didnt know colleges give A+. Ive heard of A and A- of course, and other letters having a +, just never heard of A+. interesting.

To the OP, I don't understand the question. It's not like the adcoms won't have a copy of your full course work. Put down what they ask for.

My school gives A+'s at the professor's discretion.

I'd be worried about the C- actually. Most schools require a C or higher for the course to count as pre-req. You may have to take that chem course over with.

Most schools also assume the simple A, B, C, D, F grading scale. I thought the +/- merely indicates what kind of letter grade you got, because a student with all B+ grades is a lot different than a one with just B- grades.

According to the pre-med program at my state university who is on +/- system, a C- is technically not a C (it's below it - you failed to meet the req for a C), so you have to retake the class to apply. I would suggest the OP talk to her advisor about this or call AMCAS. Actually, calling AMCAS is really the only way to get a straight answer, because advisors may assume without really knowing, and AMCAS will simply let them know the case.

I am not entirely sure what you are asking...BUT here are some thoughts...

I agree with what others have said about the C-, it may be a problem. At least one secondary I have read says specifically that anything less than a C is not counted towards the pre-req requirement. So, if you have a C- in a pre-req course, you will likely have to repeat that semester.

In terms of your other grades, it sounds like you have a really strong upward trend, which can only help you. I don't know how much it helps, but it certainly won't hurt. And doing well in upper-level courses like Biochem is especially good because it shows you can handle med-school style coursework.

In terms of listing pre-req courses on secondaries, I am in a similar situation. When I had enough room, I listed a few upper division courses that I got good grades in. I know they have my whole record, but it made me feel better to see the good grades next to the bad...

my school gives out A+'s but only at the professor's discretion, some profs never give them out, and some give them to the top 2 or 3 students in a big lecture.

it still counts the same as an A, regardless...it just looks special

Strange, we don't have A+'s either.

As for the C-, as someone else mentioned, I'd imagine that could be a problem. My school as well counts a C- as unsatisfactory if it's in a pre-req for another class.
