Wow! That's amazing! (in response to the post above)..
I just hope that I'll hear soon!
3.37 GPA, 39R (P:12V:13B:14). One rejection, two interviews, nothing from 5 schools. I'll keep you guys posted.
Nope... just two in Texas (Res.) and the rest way out of my league. I may be reapplying next year. We will see.Only 8 schools? Hopefully they weren't all in CA.
interviews++ 🙂
Case interview - just found out. Go people with screwy stats!
I told you they were one of the schools that favored the MCAT 🙂

You, sir/madam, are indeed a genius. If we ever cross paths, drinks are on me.
Why did you only apply to 2 in Texas? As a resident, they are your best chance. No offense but that was dumb.
Sounds good, if you get an interview from Keck, which is another school on the high MCAT emphasis list, I'll definitely take you up on that offer 🙂
CW is an awesome school, I think you'll like it! When are you interviewing?
I wasn't planning on finishing my secondary @ Keck - but now I just may. I saw 2000 OOS applicants and 43 matriculants and was put off a bit. I also remember it being loooong, but I think I may finish it solely on your wisdom - so far you're 1/1.
I have to call & schedule it - I absolutely love CW - such a wonderful school. I'm really excited about the interview.
USC is a great school, it's just really expensive and they don't offer merit based scholarships. Its one of my top choices, and would be the most convenient school for me to attend b/c I already work there heh.
gotta love the drizz!!
why did you withdraw from so many schools?
I withdrew from those schools b/c I would rather go to UW over any of the ones on that list... It was one of my top five schools even before I visited for a number of reasons (Madison is my hometown, I own a house there, it would be relatively inexpensive to attend, and is a great school with incredible opportunities) and I liked it even more after visiting. I figure since I've spent the money, I'll see what happens with the rest of the process but I would be thrilled to attend UW.
makes sense. you are very lucky to be in that position so early in the process. congrats to you!!!
3.2 Overall, 3.3 Science, 34N, Top 10 undergrad, BME major. 6 rejections, bunch of holds, no interviews.
3.36 UGPA, 3.07 BCPM, 27P(2003)/ 33P(2005) 3.84 GGPA... 3 interviews, 2 acceptance, will find out about the third on a few weeks. Two rejections, one hold, silence from 9 schools.
MAN!
3.17 gpa and a 35 mcat. I got interviews and acceptances from DO schools but not MD. MD schools... where is the love?🙁
Give a fella a chance is all I ask.
3.6/33 here, still not hearing much from any school except for 1 interview and 1 rejection (complete at 8 others)

Submitted secondaries at a bunch of schools now. My last LOR is really late. He just hasn't turned it in yet. Really kinda peeved about that, but what can ya do?
Hopefully his tardiness doesn't completely kill my already ridiculously late application...
34, 3.2 GPA, 3.5 BCPM, 4 interviews, 2 acceptances, 1 waitlist, 2 rejections
3.26 Overall, 3.15 Science, 34R...4 interviews (one of which I withdrew and the other in December), 2 acceptances, 3 rejections, 1 hold, and a heck of a lot of silence...but I'm not complaining. 🙂
Good luck to the rest of you all! I never expected the cycle to go so well for me considering my GPA. I think it just goes to show that some schools really do look at the other components of your application.
34, 3.2 GPA, 3.5 BCPM, 4 interviews, 2 acceptances, 1 waitlist, 2 rejections

3.29, 3.2 BCPM, 36 MCAT
4 interviews, 2 acceptances so far (waiting to hear from other 2).
Never thought I'd get anything with my GPA and no post-bacc - good luck!
Are you kidding me? One of my cousins transferred to Berkeley from Harvard because his family moved from Boston to Cali and his GPA dropped from a 3.9 to a 3.3 as a biochemistry major. In his opinion it was harder to keep A's at Berkeley.
And I have a friend who kept a 4.0 as a bio major (that was post physics, through calc III, etc) and he got his first B at a local JC in a General Chem II class; he said the difficulty of courses wasn't much different, just the level of competition between peers. He had to move from Berkley for some family related junk, and he went premed and needed to get some prereqs out of the way before he applied, so that's why he was at the JC.
I know professors who went from UC Davis and Cal Tech to Cal State schools and they said that some of their most impressive students came from state schools.
Largely, people who go to top-tier schools are paying for the prestige, not the education. Professors at many of these schools are too consumed with their research to really give their students a great education.
Why do people always talk about this lame subject?
Can't deny the additional opportunities at some of the top private institutions; point taken there.Uh... people at top schools are not paying for the prestige. You evidently did not goto a top school... We pay for the incredible opportunities that we get, we pay so we get to enjoy top-level competition and find out if we are worth a damn.

However, nationally standardized testing takes care of the competition factor. Although I can imagine being in a more competitive environment would be quite the motivation to hit the books.
I only brought it up because I used to subscribe to the idea that I'd be getting screwed out of my education by not going to a top school. But, after taking some nationally standardized tests (and determining whether or not I'm "worth a damn"), talking to a few professors who had previously taught at and researched at top-tier institutions, speaking with friends of mine who have attended top-tier institutions, and then realizing I've had great research opportunities and the opportunity to actually know and communicate with my professors (which has led to professors offering to write great LOR's which not only reflect my performance, but my personality and my interpersonal skills), I'm not feeling so disadvantaged or uneducated and don't regret my decision to stay local.
👍

Wow! Congrats to both of you! I'm sure you guys are going to do awesome. Great job on this app cycle. I hope to report back with similar news...I'm not getting my hopes up though. Staying realistic.![]()
Hey take it to another thread...
I graduated with a 3.0 overall. Since then, I completed additional cousework, increasing my GPA to around 3.3. 36 on the MCAT.
24 applications:
Three pre-secondary rejections, two interviews completed, six interviews scheduled, one acceptance.
U rochester rejection yesterday. WTF? Any body have updates?
TM
I got the Rochestor rejection too!! No love... no love... (are you NY resident, TM? )
I know that I shouldn't panic yet, but I just feel like time is running out (and I think SDN fuels this notion as well)
hopefully it works out for all of us!
