Hello. I have a 3.0 overall and a 2.8 science gpa. I have lots of college credits so I can't raise my gpa. I got a 24 on my dat with pretty even scores in all sections. Should I do a masters?

If you have the money on hand to weather potentially two application cycles (fees+interview expenses) you should apply for the masters and apply for dental school at the same time. So you would apply in june/july for dental school and begin working through your masters program in the fall. Hopefully you would gain an acceptance by December and ask them if they would like you to continue into the spring semester or not.

Master's programs are nice and can help your GPA a lot since it is an all new GPA seperate from your undergraduate one. The big thing is do YOU think you can handle it and actually perform well in it? I am in one right now and applying with the same AA on the DAT as you! It is something that is discussed in the interview but they might delay any sort of progress on your application until final grades for the first semester come in (may wait to interview or accept).

Performing well in graduate coursework (which is supposed to be harder than undergraduate) will reflect well but doing poorly will essentially put you deeper into the hole. Also if you can, apply early for one so you have good choices of classes! You can use that time to tailor your schedule instead of just taking whatever is open. You can use that and say "I picked each of these classes for x,y, and z reasons."
