Hey Y'all, I'm trying to figure out a school list and some opinions/suggestions if I am missing anything major from my application.
  • State/Country of Residence: GA
  • Ties to other States/Regions: Louisiana, Michigan
  • URM? (Y/N): N
  • Year in School: Grad in 2020
  • Undergraduate Major(s)/Minor(s): Biotechnology
  • Cumulative GPA: 3.57
  • Science GPA: 3.67
  • MCAT Score(s): 516 (128,130,128,130)
  • Research Experience: 2.5 years in immunology/infectious disease lab working on universal flu vaccine.
  • Clinical Experience (paid or volunteer): 3 Years (350h) of Rural Community Hospital Volunteering, Hospice Volunteering with Rural Medical Center (325h).
  • Physician Shadowing: 90 Hours with Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases
  • Non-Clinical Volunteering: AmeriCorps College Advising Corps in Atlanta School District, 3 Years Camps for Sick Children and PTSD/TBI Veterans; 4 Years of College Application Counseling for First-Gen, Underrepresented Veterans.

I have to apologize, I did not notice that your GPA is were below the 10th percentile for a number of the really top schools on my list.

of the schools on the list, use MSAR and rule out those where your GPAs are less than their 10th percentiles.

Gotcha, and also I believe I have a more service heavy background rather than a research background, are certain top schools on that list more appreciative of service just as much as research? Thanks again for the help!
