Giving this a try...

any help is appreciated.

Traditional application from top 20 undergrad
GPA: 3.52c, 3.75s
upward trend junior year (3.8 GPA)
MCAT: close to 85-100% in bio, physics and psych/soc, 53-68% in verbal, composite: 80-90%
Missouri resident

EC's:
2 years dance team (captain next year)
Over 800 hours of research (1 publication, 1 poster, several lab meetings)
Over 150 hours of medical volunteering
Over 120 hours of non-medical volunteering (English teacher)
Almost 100 hours of shadowing
2 years of working for a newspaper, 1 summer of leading a journalism project

Really good personal statement, already applied, 4 recommendation letters (2 science, 1 english teacher, 1 doctor I shadowed)

PLEASE PLEASE let me know if you guys think I have a shot at top 40 medical schools. I was going to apply to Mizzou and Washu (home state). But I would love to go Emory, Darmouth's Geisel, Georgetown or Brown.

The GPA-MCAT grid shows you have a 50% chance for a MD acceptance with your stats (higher if you are URM). You need to be realistic about where you can receive an acceptance so exclude Emory, Dartmouth, Brown and Washington. Schools where you would have a chance for an interview include:
Your state schools
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Albany
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
Commonwealth (PA)
Georgetown
GW
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Loyola
Rush
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
Creighton
Tulane
Any new private MD schools that open in 2016 (Sophie Davis and Sacramento Northstate have preliminary accreditation on the LCME webiste ).
